Smokie and the Bandit's KW
Ben replied to 59 Impala's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The hood on the Revell W900 Aerodyne has a lip around the fender, the Amt hood does not. The grill on the Revell kit is much nicer and can be used with the AMT hood. -

I just ordered two of those bad boys from Howard!!!!!!!!!!! A certain "Dave" did an outstanding job in mastering that!!!!!!!!! Wink, wink, nudge, nudge! Did you ever see that Monty Python skit, Dave? LOL -
You need to find out what types of paint base they are using with that system. We have several. Enamel, lacquer, acrylic, etc. It all depends of what he's going to paint. Along with the pearl additives there are three sizes of metal flake. When my painter mixes paint for me he uses enamel with reducer. It's base coat/clear coat.

We have a large RV repair facility. Most of our customer base have the high end Prevost, Monaco, BlueBird type busses. We get body work in all the time and our painter has to be able to match every color. Works out great for me! Any time I need a certain color to match the real vehicle, he can whip it right up!

We have that exact same setup at our shop.

model kits in unexpected places
Ben replied to milkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just remembered another odd place we have here in San Antonio. I think it's still there, I'm not sure but the business sells and repairs car radiators. I think the owner is a collector? There are all kinds of old models and toys but he asks way too much for them. Really odd seeing that many toy and model related items in a place like that though! -

I have that kit, trust me, don't waste your money!!!! Very inaccurate, everything is out of proportion and it's very simplified as it's designed to be motorized! -

Ok, I just went and checked. They do accept Paypal so when you pay them from the US, Paypal will convert your dollars to Euros. When you go to "send" the money, Paypal will ask you what type of currency you want to send. They will send the Euro amount and withdraw the correct amount in US money from your bank account or credit card. -

Hey Shawn, they do accept U.S. currency. I'm in Texas. I think I paid with my debit card. It was either that or Paypal. I think they have a feature on their site where you can chose the pricing to show in Euros or in US dollars. -

I don't remember the shipping being that bad. I ordered a bunch so I would have some for several projects. Shipping was pretty quick as well from what I remember. -
LOL, I just felt left out! I have had some guys on here send me some parts but I have not done any trades yet.

The best "lights" I have found are the photo etch lights that ModellTrucks and Parts, sells. They are a photo etch light with amber, red or clear resin on them and they simulate a glass covered light very well!!!! They sell them in different shapes and sizes. http://www.modelmakershop.com/modelmakershop/index.php?cat=c73_Photo-Etched-Lights.html&XTCsid=9csskcpp3phs4a5h65udrg6ds1 -
Yes Mark, please scratch build one and have it cast so I can build my extended cab Extreme!

I didn't see my name? I'm a good people too!

Oh man, am I familiar with this topic!!!!! Years ago, before all the resin companies were around, a buddy and I were begging for some 200S (or Daisey) mags! He wanted to build a model of his 63 Vette that had them on it (1:1) and the only one we could find was on the rear of the Monogram "Badman" Chevy kit. I think it only had that wheel on one side in the rear and a regular Cragar type five spoke on the other? I always thought that was weird.

YOUR LOCAL HOBBY SHOP ECONOMY
Ben replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nope, I have 300.00 overdraft protection on my debit card. If I don't have the funds in the account, the charge will still go through. (as long as it's not over 300.00). If it does and there's not enough funds to cover the purchase, I get hit with a 25.00 overdraft fee! -

Actually, if you don't keep a close eye on your funds, you can have charges clear late and surprise you! I am a member of the Red Line Club (HotWheels) and they are famous for taking your credit or debit card info and then, with almost everything they offer being on backorder, you never know when it will clear your account as they don't charge until the item ships. They won't give you a "heads up" that they are about to charge your card either!
