Good grief, it looks like a professionally made kit! Beautiful work!

To build or not, that is the question.
Ben replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What does matter is that no matter what is being done with the kit, it had to be bought first at some point which leads to more kits being offered. -

I always try to buy models, at least two at a time. One to build and one to stash away. I stash them away for many reasons. First, I really enjoy having a mint, sealed kit that has long been out of production. Just knowing that a lot of people want it and I have one that's never been opened is part of the fun for me. I also stash them away for my son. He's twelve now and when I pass, they're all his. He can either build them or possibly get rich selling them. The kits I have stashed away do still have the possibility of being built or used for parts. It just depends on how bad I need them or if I can no longer get that kit. -
Looks about right! Everything in it's place. Looks like my house! LOL

Stashing away vintage kits

Also, if I ever get my grubby lil paws on the Aurora Racing Scenes VooDoo Vega complete funny car and the Pinto (Forget the name on that one at the moment) complete funny cars, I'm gonna hug the boxes, sit in a corner and just rock back and forth!!!!!!!!!! I have two of every other kit in that series but those two are my "holy grails"!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

You beat me to it!!!!!! I have the Renwal Visible Chassis as well and will probably never build simply for the fact that it's so big when built! I inventoried every single piece in the kit and found a couple that were broken. There's a guy that sells Renwal Visible kits on Ebay and he has several that he parts out. I was able to make mine complete using a couple parts I bought from him. I did buy the Testors 1/4 Visible Hemi with thoughts of of installing it into the chassis. I had a mint original Renwal V8 (before I ever had the chassis) but I sold it thinking I'd never build it. I wish I had it now to put with the chassis. I can always get another though as they appear much more often than the chassis does. Other than that, I always try to buy kits two at a time as I really enjoy having a mint unbuilt kit just as much as being able to build it! -
Here's a link to my Fotki site where you can see a small portion of the wheels I've mastered. Look for the "Model Truck Wheels" album. http://www.public.fotki.com/lotso Also, the wheels can now be bought to use on 1/24 or 1/25 trucks.

Wow! That's sharp!!!!!!!!!!! (From another Camaro man!) -
Hi, I'm the Ben your refering too. I no longer cast the parts myself but Jamie Rahmoeller casts all the parts I have mastered over the years. The two holes he offers now are much, much better than those in that magazine. There has been many more styles made since then as well such as five holes, ten holes, all wheels in two sizes. I handle all the ordering and shipping for Jamie so if your interested in anything, please email me and I'll send you a list of available parts.

What ever happened to "The Blueprinter Magazine"
Ben replied to Austin T's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When it first came out it was from the ERTL company and concentrated on their current kits at that time which were semi trucks, farm equipment and International Scout vehicles. It was cool back then but after a while it disappeared. It came back again later and featured cars and trucks from AMT and ERTL. -

Ben replied to Tye Brown's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had an ex girlfriend that could spot a new kit right off out of the thousands I already have!!!!! I could put it right in the middle of a big shelf full of models and she would notice it! -

Scale tarps and bungee cords
Ben replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
There are many methods for making tarps. There's more than likely some good videos on YouTube that will show you exactly how to do it. The military guys are experts at that kind of thing! For the Bungee straps,, you can buy a bycycle inner tuber, cut a patch out of it, cut tiny strips from the patch and then make little "S" hooks from wire for the ends of the straps. -

Put your wife and a few kits into the trunk of your car for a few hours. Now open up the trunk and tell me which ones you would enjoy spending the next few hours with! Yeah, I stole it!
