  1. Here's some pics of the engine being built by Milo (the owner of Real Model) The guy is one heck of a model builder!!!!!!!!!! He chose to go with military colors. Mine will be painted with Detroit Diesel Alpine Green and weathered. The Allison transmission on mine will be bare aluminum. It's not finished in these pics. He also "rusted" the exhaust after these pics were taken.
  2. KFS had those exact same suspension pieces. Not sure if they still do or not though?
  3. Very good score!!!! I built the Fujimi version and loved it!!!!!
  4. Hey George, it's not just on the transmission! There are tiny resin hoses and lines in quite a few places that are cast away from the main piece as if they are a separate piece!!!!!!!!!!!! Just insane undercuts!!!!!!! I can't for the life of me figure out how something so detailed and delicate could be cast as a single part!
  5. I used the penny in an attempt to show size reference. Being 1/35, this thing is small for a truck engine but it's actually about the size of a 1/25 V6 car engine.
  6. Sooooooooooo, HARRY is the reason I can't ever finish a model!!!!!!!!!!!!?????
  7. I know this may not be everyone's cup of tea but I am posting this, not for the subject matter but rather to show a work of art in resin casting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a SINGLE piece, Detroit Diesel 8V92T semi truck engine from a transkit that is designed to go with the recently released 1/35 M1070/M1000 HET (our military's most modern tank transporter). The master for this was made from scratch in just a couple weeks and cast directly after. It's made by Real Model in the Czech Republic. I hope these pics can show you the incredible detail that has been put into this. As a very accomplished resin caster myself, I am blown away at all the undercuts and all the fragile hoses and lines cast into this piece. Every lift eye has a tiny open hole. Just a gorgeous example of resin casting!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. That's cool! Looks like it's right out of the seventies!
  9. I just wrote to Heinz and explained to him that there is much renewed interest in this kit and it would be wise for him to do another run. I also asked if he has any other types of kits planned. I'll let everyone know what he says.
  10. Balsa wood strip to make the crates and then go to a Michaels craft store. They should have all kinds of little things that would look like scale fruit.
  11. Oh great, now what am I supposed to do with this bridge I'm trying to sell???????
  12. Very nice!!!!! I made resin copies of that reefer unit from the ERTL Great Dane but gave them all away. Wish I could help. That's my favorite little reefer unit as it was used on the Smokey and the Bandit rig and the BJ and the Bear rig. Plus it has engine detail!
  13. Why is it, for the past couple months, whenever I reply to a post, My print is either bold, underlined, in italics or something other than just normal print? All I do is hit "quote" in the post I want to reply to and the forum has been choosing how my print is written? I know I can change it back but that gets to be a pain having to do that every time I want to write something? Is anyone else having this problem?
  14. I would check on the Armourama forum. It's free to join and there's probably someone there that would have the info you need?
  15. Here's a link to the Mack version as it's being restored. Watch the video. http://www.overdriveonline.com/safe-cracking-time-the-evel-knievel-haul-rig-restore-in-progress/
  16. Those wheels come from either the MPC Dodge van kit or the 77 Dodge Monaco kit.
  17. But your doing it MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's what really matters!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I didn't know if I should say anything or not. Some people take it as their work being put down. I'm just trying to offer help. I'm certainly not a perfect builder but if I know of something that will help make a model look better. I'll try to politely suggest it.
  19. Mike, that really looks great!!!!!!!!!!! Please don't think I'm just trying to be negative when I say this but there's one small thing that really detracts from the overall appearance. That mold line of the outlet pipe and down pipe. If you were to go back and scrape those off and then repaint, it would really make it more realistic!!! If your happy with it as is, that's great, I just think it's so close to looking pefect, it would be a shame to overlook such an easy to fix area. I would like to know how you painted that turbo!!!!!! It looks like rusted iron!!!!!!!
  20. WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks pretty darn sweet to me!!!!!!! I'll be getting several for sure!
  21. I'm trying to get my son more interested in models. He's twelve as well. I am hoping he will want the same hobby as me because when I'm gone, he's gonna have a LOT of models to inherit!!!!!!!!
  22. I'd love to build that truck as well, some day! If you do decide to build it, I mastered the correct little 17" spoke wheels needed to build the trailer and they are available in resin. The wheels on the tractor can be bought in real aluminum as well.
  23. That's cool! You should post it with a penny next to it to show how small it actually is!
  24. Even with their coupon, your still paying then same if not more than you would buying online. You just need to do some research and watch for the best price. I just bought the HobbyBoss M1070/M1000 tank transporter kit for a total of 141.00. That included shipping! I have seen it being sold at hobby shops for 205.00 which is suggested retail. Right now I'm waiting for Tower Hobbies to get the AMT Gremlin kits back in so I can pick up a couple of them for under 20.00 with no shipping as I am a member of their Super Saver club.
