Harry, thanks for posting the extra detail shots. While the brass era cars don't interest me, I have always liked the "Speedster" bodies. I know the Ford Model T's are now very unorthodox to drive with their planetary transmissions. One of my "if I win the lottery" 1/1 cars is a T Speedster with a mildly hopped up "B" motor, transmission and "juice brakes". But I would have to keep the Model T wires! Now to find my AMT T kits. Thanks Harry, another model project I don't need! !

Welcome Raymond! There is a wealth of anything available on this board. Here you find everything from MrObsessive and Treehugger Dave, to CB and evilone (watch out for them two !), many non-finishers like me (first glue kit was in '63) and every one else in between. Can't wait to see some of your builds! Glad you found this great forum that Gregg has provided us! -
I just re-read your post. Just keep a sharp eye on the oil level!

Hi Rob. The front mounted sump on many Fords has confounded many 1/1 swaps over the the years. I have many "little books" where the pan was cut slightly down from the flange and re-welded backwards. The oil pick-up tube was then lengthened to the rear of the pan. Your side sump is somewhat unusual , but in the 56 years that the Y block has been around, who's to say it hasn't ever been tried!

Rosie (this photo wasn't staged, I can't leave a model box open around her); Tom (he gets mad at his sister because he CAN'T fit into a model box); -
Great save! After a few moves mine turned back to kit form. Thanks, you added yet another project to my list.

The way I build 3 decades might be better. On second thought I'll be 79 in 30 years, better make that 2 decades.

Love the stake bed, Dan. That looks like the AMT/Lindberg 34 Ford bed. Great Idea!

Too cool! Period perfect colors. Are you going with the 235 I-6, or the chartreuse 265-2bbl?

Cool work 59 and Custom! This is such a cool kit. I built one of the stockers back in 76. Some years ago I found an un-built 77. I do remember it to be finicky, but with patience, it builds up nice. How about a Datsun build off. Finish date a year from now LOL!

1962 Model Car cover model.
84vanagon replied to 84vanagon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Mike. The magazine was like the new contest annuals. There were no articles on each car, but Dave did score on the cover and having the first TWO pictures under "The Ten Best Model Cars". "Chosen by the Editors of Rod & Custom and Car Craft Magazines"! WOW! -
Thanks for posting those cool pics Dave! I was going to dig through my old R&C's, but that's one I don't think I have. I'm going to dig though as I have several, sans covers. Now I know which issue to look for! I just went back and re-read your post. Two things stood out: The monthly R&C was twenty five cents. The Model Car special was a whopping $1.00, pretty big money for a magazine in '62! The other was your word "FUN". I have no doubt that every model pictured in Model Cars Illustrated (how's that from a blast from the past), Rod & Custom Models, Car Modeler and Model Car Science didn't have every bit of heart that the ones in M.C.M and S.A. (can I say that here?!LOL) do. But today there is a sterility, a lack of whimsy and what-if that was ok to do back then. Dave said the key word "FUN"!

TOO COOL!!!!! Thanks for the picture! I'll keep an eye on T.V. for it. The flying cars have always intrigued me. Did you know that there was a scale model made of the Aerocar? I have seen a few of them for sale on evil-bay, but they always bring major $$$! Any enterprising resin casters listening?!

Here is a cover shot for Terry. And for Dave, as you can see it's not pristine, but it's a very good "reader". I have had many years of enjoyment looking at it. I get a kick looking at these old car model magazines! The models are neat to look at, and it's a real treat to see a name that you know, especially in these golden oldies. What y'all did with the limited supplies, and the imagination that was put into many of the models still amaze me. Do you still have the model? If not have you ever thought of recreating it? I know even junker Tempest build ups don't come cheap, but how cool would it be to have "THE PINK LEPRECHAUN" back on your shelf! -

Hi Dave. Just curious. I wish we still had Reynolds & Reynolds at work! Unfortunately the dealership I work at went to a different system about three years ago. It was like going from a Lincoln to a tote-the-note lot Contour. The language in the parts department has gotten real "colorful"! -

Ding, Ding, Ding... we have a winner! I wasn't 100% sure it was yours Dave, but your last name is kind of unusual. You didn't spoil the fun. I wondered how long it would take for you to find it. -

No, not Foxer or Art Anderson. -
Cool. I'm a Discovery addict, but haven't seen it. What show is it on? Thanks!

I'm going to be forward and consider my answer mostly correct. How about this antique:

Thats cool! Is the one pictured your dad's? Have you flown in it?! I was going off of my memory, and didn't realize that the Aerocars were produced into the 50's.

Great pictures. Thanks for showing them. Is that you in the Reynolds & Reynolds shirt?
