  1. Ouch! Our safety guy at work tells us that with a fall from 10 feet it's 50-50 whether you live or die. You might have got off lucky. Best of luck with your recovery.
  2. Maybe it is a Canadian thing. At my local shop here in Ontario the Revell and Monogram kits have been steady in the $22 to $26 range but anything new from AMT (Jenkins '66 Nova) or MPC (Dodge Dart, Malco Gasser) are now pushing $35.
  3. How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are? Satchel Paige
  4. To each their own. Too many kits in the stash, too many ideas and concepts for future builds scratched out on paper to get to for this to work for me.
  5. I like it. For me, this is what the hobby is all about.
  6. The only kit I can remember getting for Christmas was a large scale Maverick funny car.
  7. Retired two and a half years ago after 35 years as a pipeline drafter. Retirement is like a second childhood.
  8. .......and a couple more.
  9. Bought these over the last two weeks.
  10. I pulled a kit out of my stash this week that still had the original $6.00 sticker on it. Brought back a lot of memories.
  11. There is no silence in my world. As I've gotten older I have developed a chronic ringing in the ears. I need music, a sporting event or something playing in the background to try and mask the steady hum.
  12. I've got Sirius-XM in my work shop along with a Bose speaker dock for my Ipod.
  13. I think a lot depends on exactly where the hobby slots into your life. For some it's a passion, for others merely something to pass some time. I don't detail, much like I don't always finish the daily crossword puzzle or read every article in a magazine. That's just me.
  14. Uninformed comments aren't helpful. If you knew someone was hearing impaired would you suggest they pay more attention to what you're saying? I don't think anyone wants it to be pats on the back or nothing but the comments should be relevant to the builder and not to some ideal we have in our head. If I'm not familiar with the builder, or have an understanding just where he's coming from and can compare this build to previous work from him then maybe this is a build I shouldn't be commenting on.
  15. I think maybe he's saying some consideration should be given to how the build was completed. That only looking at the final result doesn't reflect that perhaps it was created despite limitations whether they be physical or financial etc. The final product doesn't tell the whole story or put it into context. Don't have to be here long to come to the realization that this is the last place to look for consideration.
  16. Got these recently in a trade. Something different from what I generally build.
  17. Charles Carpenter '55 Chevy Pro Sportsman kit....almost six years ago. Got me back in the hobby. My intention was to only purchase it along with the '57 Chev, the Christine Plymouth and Jukebox Ford kits......330 transactions and 600 kits later I'm still at it.
  18. I'd like to see some quad cab pickups. For as many that are on the road these days they don't seem to be represented in the hobby.
  19. An eBay seller had two factory sealed ASA Thunderbirds with a Buy It Now price of $4.95 each. I bought both and they included an additional open but sealed inside ASA Thunderbird at no additional cost. Add on $12.00 for International shipping.
  20. 1 - Idea !!! 2 - Take required kits from stash and do a little mocking up to see if it's a viable build. 3 - Make sure I have everything I need. 4 - Build like crazy.
  21. My tastes run more along the muscle car or drag racing cars with a little Nascar thrown in for variety. The subject matter of some of these is kind of foreign to me but they look bad-ass so they should be fun.
  22. 2001 Monte Carlo on the nice days and a 2010 AWD Equinox on the nasty days.
