  1. Jon, that is fantastic! Thanks for sharing your comprehensive build photos. My hat's off to you. That is a beauty of a build!
  2. She's ready for primer. I filled, shimmed, trimmed, cut, etc. as needed to get it to where it should all fit together for assembly. (I like to do a lot of my filling with bits of styrene, to cut down on the amount of filler needed. Sort of like "leading" in scale.) The hood was easier than I thought, and came out pretty nice. I cut right on the upper crease, removing it, and just above the fender bulges on the sides. Then removed about 3mm and just reattached it all. The hardest part were the areas below the hood in the cowl sides. They'll be fine after some putty though... I hope to prime it tonight and then start throwing putty. More, higher res, pix here: http://fivets.fotki.com/my_projects/1940-ford-deluxe-co/.
  3. I LOVE that Caddy! The Series 62 trim will definitely look good. Nice fins!
  4. Nice! Great looking mix of "metal" colors there.
  5. Bob, you did such a nice job on that for the short amount of build time. That's beautiful! What a sleek looking Jag! (I can't keep up with you guys. I've resorted to competing with house builders for my build times - 3 or 4 months.)
  6. Low 'n slow, bumpin' the Boulevard. Another beauty, Ajay! ps - I checked your website. Nice work on that, and the builds are very inspiring!

    1957 Ford

James - "Is that Ford for sale?" Old Codger - "Nah...I'm gonna fix her up someday." Great diorama! I really like that disentegrated tarp on the roof. All the weathering is just right too. Kudos, James!
  8. Doesn't look like much, but I'm still slowly making headway on this one. Biggest change is that I narrowed & shortened a Revell '48 Ford Carson top to fit. I like the low, aggressive look better. Once I finish the hood, glue the top together and shim the rear reveal it will be ready for some primer.
  9. Great news, Andy! I'm waiting for this too.
  10. Oooh, that's gonna be beautiful with one of your trademark slick paint jobs. I like it!
  11. Ray, Check this out. This is an old custom out of Valley Custom in the early '50s. This was the inspiration for my build. I plan on shaving the molded-in trim, cutting just below the upper crease and just above the bottom arc. Then when you re-assemble it with 4" taken out, the crease just runs into the arc. Beautiful. Wish me luck! More restoration photos here: http://www.stevesautorestorations.com/proj...=23&ptype=2
  12. Beautiful job! Great paint slingin', and your fab work on that bed is amazing. Take a bow! (I'll be using Tamiya gloss black on my current project. I hope it comes out that good.)
  13. I like it, especially the air intake & the suicide shifter. Great use of that extra hand grip in the kit!
  14. I shortened the rear fenders a couple'a scale inches and all four fenders have been trimmed up to line up with the channeled cab bottom. No, not a full radius, like you said - just make it match the front. Colors up for consideration are Tamiya Pearl Blue or Pearl Green, Copper, HoK Lime Gold or just a tinted primer...purple maybe. Thanks for the comments guys!
  15. Thanks for the picture of your setup, Jeff. I have a similar light tent with three 100-watt bulbs - one each side and one up top. My photos are a little washed out, so maybe I'll try it without the top light and some smaller bulbs in the sides...and a gray sweep.
  16. On newsstands now. July 2007 issue. Cover is a beauty of a chopped red five window with Fiesta covers. Has a small blurb and a 4" x 2" photo of each of the 57 historical '32 Fords that made it to the Grand National Roadster Show for the 75th Anniversary display. I just read in Rodder's Journal #36 that they're planning a book featuring each car too, but this should hold us over 'til then. Plus, it's the first mag I've seen that has a photo of each and every car there. Model on...
  17. Here's one from last summer. I hit it with primer just before starting my 1/12 Chopper and then boxed it up. I took it back out this past week and stood it up on some tires. Almost every dimension has been altered, and it uses the Replicas & Miniatures chopped cab and smoothed hood. I think I'll remove the bottom grille bar and some material from the front valence, then re-radius the rear wheel opening and get it ready for color coats. IIRC, the bench seat from the AMT '57 Chrysler custom fits in there pretty nicely... Stoke!
  18. Wow, that's super-clean, Jeff! Nice job on a beauty of a Vette. Your photography is top notch too.
  19. Very nice! Your weathering & "metal" finishing is outstanding.
  20. Sweet! It looks fast standing still. The photoetch bits really bring it to life. Nice engine choice too. 8)
  21. Been working on this one this past week. Revell kit with a resin Carson Top Bill Stillwagon gave me. Five inch chop on the windshield, 4" section out of the body and channeled 5". Inspiration was Ralph Jilek's '40 from Valley Custom. Color will be black with a black & white tuck & roll interior. '49 Caddy Sombreros in wide whites. Curbside. A height comparison with a Standard Coupe that I'll be building for my uncle.
  22. Steve, that is just fantastic! Just a great looking hot rod. Very nicely done. Have fun at GSL!
  23. Just right! 8)
  24. Check it out at Yahoo. http://finance.yahoo.com/expert/article/careerist/30301 A couple of points in there that could maybe help some model builders like myself. Especially that part about perfection = procrastination. Don't leave that kit in the box - build it! Model on...
