  1. Great builds, both of them! I had fun building mine too. A fun, nostalgic kit that has the look right out of the box. Those are far and few between, IMO.
  2. Beautiful! I can't find one flaw. That's just fun to look at. Will it be at NNL East?
  3. I buy kits to build them. Ideally, I'll get to, because I have at least one idea on how to build every kit I own. I also buy kits just for parts, not caring that 80% of the kit will go "unused." It's still cheaper than resin most of the time. So, let's see. At 4-5 builds a year and 250 kits...dang, it's gonna be close (God willing). ps - there's something to be said for that initial joy of opening a kit and looking it over, ideas racing through your head. That's almost worth the price of admission alone. "Air building" rules.
  4. I've used both brands, colors and clearcoats from each. I'd say the biggest difference is the spraying/atomization of the paint out of the nozzles. Testors is very heavy-handed, requiring you move quickly past the body to avoid runs (in my experience). Tamiya sprays much better, IMO. However, I think Tamiya is thinner and can pull away from corners more readily than the thicker Testors. Best-case scenario, use either one for color and clear with Tamiya for a smoother finish to polish. I've used the Tamiya primers and they are nice and fine, less "grainy" than the 1:1 automotive stuff. But I like that too, so...
  5. Beautiful paint! Good tip on the magnesium too. Thanks.
  6. SWEET! Dig that swoopy door line and laid back pillars! Definitely a no-go on the first grille. Like Paul mentioned, maybe build up the outside of the '34 grille, like a '35 Ford pickup-style, then mold in some vertical quads?? I love the color and rear rollpan too!
  7. I'll be there (if the Good Lord's willing & the creek don't rise)!
  8. Yes, that wagon looks neat! And Lil John's trad rod ain't bad either.
  9. I'm liking it! Very nice job on the blending of the nose to the wagon body. I vote for 5-spokes - they're bigger and fill the wheel openings better.
  10. I'm all set guys, I got ahold of him. Thanks!
  11. I care - what's the tally up to? Thanks for the review, Bob. I'm going to get one just to improve the interior on my Fujimi 575M, and maybe display the drivetrain on a stand next to it (kinda like an auto show deal). The top design sounds neat too.
  12. Purty! Great paint! I like it.
  13. Beautiful build! Very nice job.
  14. Welcome, Doug. This place is the best! What are you currently working on? See you at NNL East.
  15. Keith Marks makes a lot of musclecar stuff. I'm expecting my first order from him this week. But Fred Cady's stuff is still all over that auction site at reasonable prices. There are two or three people that sell most of it. If you want a particular sheet, contact them and ask if you can buy a sheet offline. I've done that successfully a couple of times.
  16. He's the House of Kolor dealer at NNL East, right? If you have an e-mail address for him, please let me know. I'd like to talk kolors with him. Thanks!
  17. I love it! Wicked stance. Purple with yellow flames - Bobby Alloway style - sounds great.
  18. Oh wow, Dave, that is super cool! I can't wait until the year 1985 when everyone's cars will look like this...and fly too!
  19. Chris, It's Norm from Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland doing these parts. Lyle says Norm's PC is down, so give him a call at (410) 768-3648 (Mon - Sat, 9-6 ET).
  20. Thanks for the comments, guys. I consider this paint job a win, since it was pretty bad off, pre-polishing. Yeah, the hot rod guy's doing a street machine. Prior to this, my "newest" build was vintage 1957. I like late-'60s Pontiacs, second gen Trans Ams too. You know, mix it up a little.
  21. I started this back in '05. What a beautiful kit Revell made with this one! Mostly box stock except for wheels & tires - 15 & 16" American 200S "Daisy" mags from the Revell metal-body Fast & Furious '70 Charger kit. Since the mockup I've opted to use 1/24 treaded tires out back instead of these light-on-detail slicks. Testors lacquer Nassau Blue with Testors lacquer clear. Didn't level out very well, but 3200 & 3600 polishing cloths knocked down the orange peel so 4000 - 12000 could do their magic. After polishing & Meguiar's #7: ps - a great match for late-'60s Pontiac engine blue is DupliColor "Ice Blue" in the touch up can.
  22. Oh, this is gonna be great! One day I'll try one of these weathered beater trucks. I love watching you other guys build them! Keep posting progress, please.
  23. I agree, Jason, an MCM Forum name tag for NNL East is a good idea. It really helps to meet people and put faces to names. Will Gregg & Jairus be at NNL East?
  24. So nice! That second picture makes me want to hop in and drive south.
