  3. Looking at your treasure, I would have to say you have inherited an original !!! Up until Revell re-released the Pontiac Club De Mer and the Lincoln Futtura around 1994 in their Selected series Program, I would say an unbuilt original could go gor 300.00 Now yours is a built original. I'm not putting a price on it as I don't know how well it's built or how good a condition it is either. If you had the box, It would have made a BIG difference as the original box was a somewhat flat box much like the first re-issue with ONE EXCEPTION, the original had the A M T logo beside the Revell logo on the box. It would also say copyright 1956 on the side. Thankfully , the folks at Revell made every effort possible to give the kit back to us including the "Mint-Green" plastic. The real car was painted in a Blue-green metallic according to a friend who spent years tracing the cars whereabouts and was in on the deal where the car was rescued from a storage facility in Burbank California by George Barris. The car had been painted an orange red for the Movie It Started with a Kiss staring Debbie Reynolds . The car is prominent in the movie even though I've not seen the movie in years . Barris only had maybe a month to do the Bat-mobile and thats why it still looked so much like the Futura .Still You might want to know that there were four Fiberglass copies made using Ford engines and frames. My friend here in Richmond talked of building a copy for himself as he was in on the Fiberglass copies back in the 60's. The last time we spoke, he was talking about doing a Monkee Mobile copy. Still, he did build a running copy of the 54 Corvette Nomad wagon! Ed Shaver
  4. Bill, the station I built here is only about ten feet deep . The front measures almost eight and a half feet across. Meanwhile the tank was reported to have been placed between the front of the store and the pump island. That distance measures about sixteen feet. The reason that I think that the station went out of business in 53 was simple. First, there was only room for one tank , second , it was only capable of holding 800 gallons . Remember W W II brought us 100 octane ( AVIATION ) fuel from Shell, they were the first. Then too, look closely at the lot, where could one service automobiles? Ed Shaver
  5. DANG YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU DIDNT PUT A FLAT-HEAD IN IT , Idunno what to do wit ya Ed Shaver
  6. Bill, Peter, SO DO I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  7. I had a dog like that once, my girlfriend of the time and I found a couple of puppies with their mother. The mother looked like a full Labrador. Someone in the area said the father was a German Shepperd Any way they were all camped out in a condemned house near the old Vandevorts Diary in downtown Fort Worth. Any way, we gave away the other puppy and the mother , well she wandered off, never to be seen again. the pupppy I kept ,well I named her Texaco. I did it because she wanted to go every where I went, including wrecker calls. She had a big white star on her chest and thats what hit me, call her Texaco, the dog that wears the star and that folks is a true story. Ed Shaver
  8. Bernard, I think you're being way way way too hard on yourself. You did tis model to help you relax , yes? First, I don't see any thing wrong with it. In fact I've seen real Ford three window coupes that in my estimation , look a hellava lot worse! I think you took a page from Rod and Custom and cruised with it now stop being you're own worst enemy man, looks nice! Ed Shaver
  9. I'ts certainly an attractive build, not sure if I would want to have to change ten plugs on that monster though. I like the color.Ed Shaver
  10. Dan , thanks for the pictures! Uh, who built the really neat 57 Ranchero could you get him to share som more with us? Ed Shaver
  11. Georgge , Harry, John, The pumps are all 1-24th scale. First a little history on the red pump or the 5 gallon Beacon manufactured pump. Beacon manufacturing or known as the Beacon Visible Pump company was founded in Louisville Kentucky. In Jack Sim's book ,Illustrated Guide to Gas Pumps, (copy righted 2002 ) he states that the company probably didn't produce it's first model until 1922. Now prior to 1922, Beacon Visible was selling pumps for a competitor, Western Pumps of Saint Louis Mo. The book further states that Beacon Visible went out of business in 1927. There was also a Beacon Equipment co. in Hamilton Ohio these were two different companies. The globe on top is a White Eagle Oil company globe. White Eagle became a subsidiary of Vacum oil which marketed Mobil Products in the day. To further explain the "Globe" , it is a carved Bondo piece that is a representative of a "Blunt-Nose " White eagle. There were two versions of the "Molded " White Eagle Globes. First there were the "Blunt Nose". They came out in 1924 and were made until 1932 . The second version was the "SLIT-THROAT' version , they came out in 1924 and were made until 1932. Then there were some "refined " one piece White Eagles, they are referred to as the Pointed nose Eagles. They're very rare as they were only manufactured between 1930 and 1932. Expect the prices to run anywhere between $800.00- 2500.00 for a White Eagle globe today. The other pump is far more common. It is a model of a Tokiem Model-#620 " Taper-Shell" ten gallon dispenser with no extras . Yes gasoline pumps had optional parts avalible. Tokiem built this peticular pump between 1927- 1940. Meanwhile the VERY RARE FIRE CHIEF ONE PIECE GLOBE WAS ONLY USED IN 1932. These exceptional globes were used to advertise the new Ethyl-Grade Fire Chief Premium gasoline for 1932. Now years later Texaco would re brand their Premium fuel Sky Chief after W W 2. The last time I heard of one of these globes for sale, it went for around 5000.00 dollars and that folks was 1983. Ya'all might Google Jeff Spainer in Oaklahoma city, he was at the auction then. Now if there are any other questons concerning gasoline pumps, Ill be happy to answer each and every one of them. SEE YA ON THE ROAD FOLKS!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver

  14. I remember seeing one from I believe Mill City, Ron Cash, any way it was when that kit came out back in 1992. Haven't seen any thing since that time The dashboard you could do, however the ornamentation on the grille woukd tie you up for awhile . I wish I was more help Ed Shaver
  15. I'm going to jump in here with my take. I go to mostly 1-1 car shows as I enjoy DRIVING my 53 Ford Panel Delivery. I'll remind you that the truck has been back and forth between Dallas Texas and Richmond Virginia an hour south of D C five times. Besides the fact that transmissions on those trucks are junk the rest of the truck and the trip are fine. Meanwhile I always am asking the prices at these "Swap-Meets" on models . I gotta tell you. A Boss Nova from A M T going for 100.00 sorry, put it in yer plastic museum . I got one of the re-issues not realizing that the tool had been desicrated to make a LAUGHABLE car! I told some one here a while back , sell it right, gain a customer, sell it high, you will never get the customer back. Ed Shaver
  16. You know Joe , this sounds scary.............. When I lived in Dallas there was a Ceeep, uh Cheif Auto parts store in walking distance of my house . Just a couple of blocks over was a Pep-Boys. I witnessed the same behaviors you did. From then on, I went to a N A P A which was several miles away. If I wanted Air Fresheners, well.... go figure Ed Shaver
  17. Hey folks, I have a question. Will the motor in the Louisville fit the seperate Transmission in the Ford F-600? See, both kits are in deep storage across town. I figure.. some one out there might know. Ed Shaver
  18. Clay, are you saying you drove the 63 Avanti? I've always wanted a Starliner Coupe. Ed Shaver
  19. Bill, you're 10 miles from Hershey, I envy ya I remember when I lived in Dallas being able to pick up a water pump or two for a Flat Head Ford, but no more, thanks for the pictures, someday I too will visit Hershey. Ed Shaver
  20. O K OK Look in North Carolina, Texas , and even Arizonia where I've worked before, Ive always refered to it as roll and pleat. In fact I've even said it when I used to help an upholster out from time to time. Lets not get bogged down with too many details. It's still a beautiful piece of work, ( THE RANCHERO) . Ed Shaver
  21. James, the heck with the decals I want to come over and you and I ride in that car for just an hour, I promise not to drool over it toooooooooomuch!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  22. I have to agree with the gentleman who responded with the comment about the late Ed Roth . However I would like to go on record as saying that the model resembles something from the studios of Mr . Chip Foose. It really hit me when I saw the photograph of the model with the top up . Interesting.................. Ed Shaver
  23. First, whats supposed to be wrong with it? look , If your're looking for something vintage try a roll & pleat red & white stripe interior! NOW GET BACK TO WORK! Ed Shaver

Harold, the color looks factory, nice touch.I once had to rewire the top solinoids on one of those Lincons, never again. Dang thing almost got me to start using alcohol again. At that time, I'm proud to say I'd been "Dry" for 16 years. Ed Shaver
