  1. The 1st wrecker is a 1972 GMC 1 Ton witha homemade crane as we had to excract cars from the Virginia Commonwealth University parking decks. You only had 7' of clearence to work with. The blue wrecker is a 1954 Ford where I learned how to actually use a wrecker when I was 15 yrs old.

  4. Harry , I completely agree with you in your comments regarding self employment. I too am currently self employed . There was a time , well ten years ago when I worked for Pet Dairy as a route salesman. We Had the Teamsters. Im personally for a union as I lived in Texas for many years.. Seems that every timre I tried to get a fair price for my work, I was always being threatened by having the work farmed oput to an " Illegal Mexican" operation if I didnt go along with what I was told I would make on a given job! VOTE LIBERTARIAN! Ed Shaver
  5. I want to say Lycoming, but the funny waterpump throws it off, maybe a Hipso Suezia ? EdShaver

  11. Kevin , I am real suprised that you havent mentioned a rarity from the fifties ,and thats a Monogram Cadillac from 1956. It was about 1-20th scale I also noticed you don't have a Revell Eldorado Broham, one of my all time favorite cars. It was done in 125th scale. The body was a " MUlti-Piece" and the trim was molded seperate. You also forgot Revell's 1-32 1956 El Dorado convertable, I used to own one of these , It really had TWO four barrel Rochesters on it from the factory. Ran nice too. Ed Shaver
  12. Hey Lyle and John, they re having a show in Norfolk October . Why don't yaall come for that? It's Automotive Modlers society not THE rivett boys mebbie I see yaall there. Oh yeah, bring the Impala too!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  13. I'm way suprised as to how well the two cars went together! I certainly would have never thought that they would turn out that way! Ed Shaver
  14. Blu, I was in Winston Salem North Carolina thjis past week-end I spoke to the owner of Time Macine resin on several subjects. Isaw som Cadillac wheel covers there that while they are " Full " covers It seems to me that you could convert them to you're needs. What you're show ing isn't too much different than the Cadillac covers Time Machine resins address is 773 Fitzpatrick Road Nashville Tennesee 37214 or go to timemachineresin@comcast.net or timemachineresin.bravehost,com/ EdShaver
  15. Thank you for you're dedicated and brave service to you both . Ed Shaver
  16. Nice wiring Kevin. Maybe you can rewire my Chrysler van to go around the factory alarm system. The dealer is telling me it will cost almost 1,900.00 to do this. Ed shaver
  17. It reminds me of the Nova from the same era when Generic Motors did a Nova with a formal roof. I got a call from a body shop when I lived in Dallas trying to find a good rust free body . Never did find one. They really didn't sell too many of those Formal roof models either. Meanwhile , You're post got me to looking, very interesting................. Ed Shaver
  18. Oh no the Buffet will be closed , The Bluehaired old ladies , an an an an the BINGO HALL is closed oh what to do what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Ed Shaver
  19. Dammn , I love it when a plan comes together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 EdShaver
  20. Larry, your'e always in touch with the manufacturers or well you were when we met in Dallas in 92. Uh how about Detail Masters foil. I beleive I can order that from Replicias and Miniatures is that better? Ed shaver
  21. I bet you that wrecker , the real one if there is one rides rough as you know what!!!!!!!!!!!! Still, the turning radius would be great as the cab could turn onit self. I wqould like to see a real one and talk to someone whose had experence with the real thing. All the "Big " wreckers I ever drove were conventional cabs because in that big of a truck , they ride is very rough. With something behind weeeeeelllll................. Still, its a beautiful job you did on the model, I have family that worked for Shell Oil at one time. I used to be a wrecker driver - owner too. EdShaver
  22. I use the Testors Rust , it comes as a color in theirsmall bottles. I usually thin it and apply it .to the engine. I also use the Cheap acrylic paints from Michiels Art stores. The water paints are flatter and to me replicates the rust better to me any way. Old used thinner is also a favorite to me too. you can incorperate that into the engine for a semi gloss shine to depict oil leakage. Ed shaver
  23. Clay , you're probably going to hate me for sugesting this but I will anyway. What would happen if you tranlsplanted the " Big Window " from a 56 cab to the 53? Yep, look at the indententations in the cab, you could still do a Big window perhaps and it would be unique. Look theres a fellow who lives just up the street from me who has a 1-1 55 Ford . His Ford features a hood opening just like yours. He runs a 460 Ford engine in it . Well, its just a thought. Ed Shaver
  24. Bill since a lot of the cars in Beckley looked like that in the day what with the piece meal chrome from the cinders the D O T would put down so you could get around the mountian, why not leave it as it is ? I think you're onto somthing extremely realistic from the era. EdShaver

Eric I saw that kit at the Winsto Salen N C show this weekend. I was a little afaid to buy it after th fiasco with their supposed 1-24th scale Gremlin Grabber kit. Prices were a little high there simply because the hotel was a very upscale place to stay any how. Vendors had no choice but to reflect that because of what it was costing them to sell. I would be curious as to what you thoufght of the kit would you drop me a line or would some one else drop me a line as to their feelings on the whole kit? I like what you did on your rod , it looks very "Period Perfect" also old enough to remember such cars roaming the streets and drive -ins here too. Ed Shaver
