  1. I dunno, I'll go with A M T's Z- -28 kit of the 70 Camaro............. Ed Shaver
  2. Jim, that former truckstop on Jeff Davis is jus that , a Texaco Truck stop that Hanover County granted Historical status to back in the middle 1980's . I'ts interesting too as it is THE ONLY FORMER GASOLINE station to have been granted such status in the area !!!!!!!! I used to stop there in the 1950's with my father and get a lunch from time to time . It operated as Texaco until I think , 1970 when Union 76 opened a nearby Union over on I-95 in 1972. The building then sat vacant until 1988 when a Trucking company came in and leased the property. They were told then that NO modifications could be made to the main building as it had been designated Histoic by the state of Virginia . For what it's worth, continue SOUTH on Jefferson Davis HWY, ( U. S. 1 ) and go down by the Model tobacco building . At that point look right and a FORMER Standard Oil or Esso Truckstop with a motel on top built in the late 1930's still stands as a monument to Long haul drivers ............. Ed Shaver
  3. I'll go for the 62 Chevrolet Impala . Ed Shaver
  4. I could spend the rest of my life just learning the FANTASTIC photography angles this man posseses. That alone is what makes Mr Smith's work so realistic . I have had the site for quite some time and I will never ever achieve the level of expertise of this man .
  5. Cranky, I lucked out doing some exibit work this past month. I was able to do a DELUXE Batmobile , a Gremlin and a Hudson, one of each. Thats almost a year of building for me as I'm already prepaing my next diorama , a car wash ..........Ed Shaver
  6. If it were me , I would have Kiboshed the kit on the body alone . I actually have owned these trucks and I still have a 53. This kit begs for someone who can do just the fenders as they alone ruin an otherwise classic ride . Now on Chopping a top on a 56, you would need to cut the rear as a section and then the front likewise . On an actual truck, the center needs some material in the middle . If not , the posts won't exactly line up well. I havent chopped a Revell model so I don't know what the results would be .However, I have done a 1-1 56............ Ed Shaver
  7. Todays update , yes today . The building is nearing FINIAL Completeion. I'm cutting the base , nearly a piece 2 X 4 feet to show it on . Heres some close- ups : The lovely an talented Ms. Penny an her twin sister waitng for their cars oil to be changed : This is a shot of the area where the lift will go in . A car will be placed on the rack and the drop light , ( shown ) will hang underneath : I'll be back next week with mo Parking lot foder ! Ed Shaver

  9. Several of you are privy to the last service station I'm doing . It is a replica of a "Twin Chimney " Crown Central service station. I started on the project a good five years ago . Illness set in last year and as such , I had the building finished , not what went outside . With my health finially improving somewhat, I hope to have this finished by the end of Febuary ......... Ed Shaver
  10. Jeff, often times when I need to do such windows , I'll take a piece of .015 Acetate and use Elmers White glue adhered to .020 X .020 strip . After the whole window is made up, attach that to the window frame . You can also use the "Packageing" from cookie and deli containers too. yes , most of them are .015 acetate sheet . Ed Shaver

  18. Monty, currently I'm having way too many problems with both area Post offices I use . They have managed to lose entirely too many packages comming to me . My carrier goes through here on two wheels most of the time . If I didn't know better , I would say I live along side an Intersatte highway . I have complained and the supervisor basicly stuck up for the carrier . Said I was screaming at her ...... Hummmm, no one with in earshot agreed with her though . Ed Shaver

  21. If ya want the Lunch wagons , anyone in Houston can visit the Taxi Cab staging areas in either Intercontinental , ( Bush ) or Hobby . They're all over the place there .............. Ed Shaver
  22. Polly- S aquioues paints once opened seem to have a bad track record . Same goes for a lot of the bottle Testors , also made by RPM . The sinthol in the Bottle testors will often time seperate . This was a problem with their Rail Road paints in the 80's .Personally , I wish I could still get Humbrol tins ................ Ed Shaver
  23. Would one of the Moderators post Art's comments so that anyone here can easily reference what he took time to share ? Ed Shaver
