  1. Rob, uh hate to tell ya the badd newzzzzzzzzzzz but , dats the way AMT molded the kit in 1962!!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  2. Being as I have dealt with Don, back in Dallas years ago, I wish we, ( I P M S Richmond ) had the clout to bring High end vendors like Model haus to the Old Dominion Open . I'm glad Lonewolf Custom Painting , Donn Yost could make it I think it lended a air of sophistication to the show Thanks again Donn !!!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  3. What a minute , Power glides, really ? Shoot, why not put a Hyda-matic 400 in them ? Power glide indeed........................ Ed Shaver
  4. If necessary, I'll get a picture of this up. Anyway, I think it was in 1961, the S M P Chevrolet Annual kit provided a small scale Bill board . I think it was also in the 1962 Chevrolet Styline Hardtop kit too. Here is a scan of A M T's 1961 Buick Special station wagon accessories : The same parts were also in the A M T 62 Buick Special wagon and the 1963 Chevrolet Nova station wagon kits too Ed Shaver
  5. Christian, that is how AMT did the Triumph motor bike and the Go- kart . You had to buy ALL of the AMT kits as a result . This was done in order to sell the entire line In both 1961 and in 1962. I nearly had all of the 62 Annual kits , I think fewer 61's as I had only begun building back in 1960. Ed Shaver
  6. Nice write up and overall nice job! keep up the good work young man ................ Ed Shaver
  7. John, I think you're referring to the two chrome whiskey cans , couple of guns , and whiskey bottles along with a violin case too. These were part of the driver and a another figure that could stand . All this came with in the 1928 Lincon touring car . Ed Shaver
  8. Sure looks like the Mach 5 in Speed racer to me ................. Ed Shaver
  9. Jim, if you would call me on the phone , I would give ya the dimensions .............. Ed Shaver
  10. Ed, this is generally what I do. I go to a couple of shows a year that I know will have the kits I'm particularly looking for . We have two Hobby towns here and one legitimate hobby store . I do not consider Hobby Town to be a hobby store over their "Indiffernt attitudes". We have a Hobby Lobby , that's a good 35 miles one way from me and a couple of Michael 's somewhat close . Still, here is the deal , I scratch build most of the models I do as i concentrate on Dioramas and gasoline pumps . Since you can't go out an buy what I do, I'm always improvising . Doll House stores , yard sales , hey broken junk jewelry works for my needs . Ed Shaver
  11. Rob, iffin it was me , I would frame the building as I would a real garage as in 18incher studs . Run the wires through the lower middle , about 20 inches off the ground . Old Garages had Fire braces at the middle , IN THA Center running horizontal . Well, DECENT ones I have seen did . You might also consider having "Overhead track " mounted Tongue and groove doors as well. hey, Plywood doors are a recent innovation . Now onward to a semblance of a roof structure , the rafters are run on 21 inch centers . Yes , run the rafters so as to have some 12 volt lamps to help illuminate the structure . Simple shades can be fabricated out of Styrene pipe and add flat stock and tapered to look like a forged piece . You can use some Bondo to help with the shaping . On the floor , crumple some toilet tissue and spray it with a grey so as to look like old newspapers , have some rags just laying about too. Make sure that there are cartons tied with string . Have some photo reduced license plates nailed to the wall be sure to weather the floor , at least somewhat and make it look dusty ! This could include straining some dirt through a fine screen. Make some miscellaneous garden tools too, every garage has at least a few . Hey, go to the doll house shops on line if yer not proficient making them ! Ed Shaver
  12. What a tight looking ride ! Seriously , this should get people to looking ............. Ed Shaver
  13. Hey, keep those votes coming !!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  14. Shoot, iffinit wazzzzzzzzzzzz me , I would build it , stock........................ Ed Shaver
  15. Cole , the answer is a definet YES! I did , but to tell you the truth, I never ever took pictures of it . I did it as a period Volunteer rescue squad Ambulance such as we had here in Richmond Virginia . You'll spend some time doing some minor scratch building . You can raid the 0-2 tanks from a AMT 53 Ford F-100 kit an so on too. By all means sir , lights , action !!!!!!!!!!Ed Shaver
  16. Building plastic models is actually a part of my rehabilitative therapy. See , I have severe arthritis in the wrists and the fingers . The doctors I see say at least trying to exercise with small tools are good as it exercises the joints . O K , I get tired easily as it's hard to sit any real periods any more . I spend as much time as i can with my son . He is my most important asset . We actually build a couple of model projects together on occasion too. Together , we have built several cars . The only guilt I ever have is spending too much money on certain supplies and kits . Ed Shaver
  17. I,m told they would be anywhere in the 1968-71 vicinity ? Ed Shaver
  18. Lawrence , uh as I recall, the actual Thunderbird was a good six inches longer . Yes , technically the two cars share platforms and drive line components . So too , the Mk 7 Lincon did too........... Ed Shaver
  19. Take a moment to vote and vote in the Professional Cadillac cars you would want in a complete resin kit . I'm told that these cars could be from 1968 to71 bodies ............ Ed Shaver
  20. I don't watch the models per say. In I S C A show circuits , one HAS to make at least TWO VISIBLE CHANGES to bring a ride back into competition . I see a lot of the same ole stuff in the restored classes as well. Some guys are like snow birds , they bring back the same ole car year after year after year , I think they just recycle the displays too. Meanwhile , I'm usually too busy buying stuff for someone else to really pay attention ............ Ed Shaver
  21. Interesting, you never see drag boats anymore . Nice . Ed Shaver
  22. Fine job young man , keep up the great work. Ed Shaver
  23. You be a brave soul chopping that one ! Ed Shaver
  24. Fine looking stuff Dave, fine lookin! Ed Shaver
