On an actual Nova of this era if you ran a "60 series tire" , one had to run Air shocks as the wheel houses were too small. Secondly, if you did run outside of the body, in most states , they made you have Rubber Flares added as the mud was kicked to the rear clouding a following vehicles visibility. This was so in both Virginia and Texas ................ Ed Shaver

dirty donnys (vantasy)
Eshaver replied to stulee11's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The one comment I have on this , yer brave as to opening the Driver and passenger doors . see, the 1-1 vans used a combination of both a "Barn door hinge " at the top and a "hidden hinge at the bottom . I'm curious as to how sturdy you're solo hinge will be in time . On the pictures , had it been me , I would have shut the flash unit down and added some lights at either corner . The flash unit itself bounced back severely and as such hides a lot of you're workmanship. Fine job otherwise , oh when is the next truck - In by the way ? Ed Shaver -
why are those 60's models so rare?

Prior to the Hurricane , Agnes in 1973, I could say I had all the annuals of A M T and Jo-Han , a decent collection of miscellaneous Hawk, Aurora , most of the I M C . M P C , and a smattering of some Revell and Monogram offerings .I was in a old storage building on the second floor very, well a block away from the James River . For the most part , we were only given maybe a hour to evacuate the area. I put what I could in the third floor as no one was renting it at the time . For ten days , we weren't allowed into the vicinity. I lost everything , including a Ford Van I had only recently purchased almost new . I saw it floating upside down in the Kanawa canal adjacent to the James River . When I finally was allowed back, everything and i mean everything had floated out to the river as one of the walls of the building had collapsed . Ed Shaver -

here is something I bet most folks have never seen here , a 1957-63 Mercedes Benz 300 S L Convertable from Hubley I would say about 1959 or 60. Missing a windshield headed , wheels , some front trim, im about to raid a partial A M T Mercedes for needed pieces : Ed Shaver

I have a few questions concerning a 1957-63 Mercedes Benz 300 SL Convertible made by Hubley I'd say 1960 or so. Has anyone ever known of such a kit or was it maybe a Friction ? It was made in 1-24th scale and may have had a Friction motor attached in front . I'm trying to resurrect a windshield header for it and see if i can raid a AMT 300 Mercedes for needed parts . I'll put some pictures in the work in progress this evening . Ed Shaver

GM factory paint colors?
Eshaver replied to Rob Hawkins's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Rob, yer in luck as Model Car World probably has what you need . I met the owner in Conover once as he was at the Carolina Kustom Classic near Winston Salem . great guy to deal with I might add. Check out his resin stuff . He's the one who makes all the sedan bodies and even a Pontiac Tempest station wagon kit . If you just need a reference , try Auto Color .com too. Ed Shaver -
