  1. Very nicely done Vignettes .Any of them would be competitive ! Ed Shaver
  2. Mike , A M T and Johan kits from A M T , 1958 to 1965 all came with Mirrors and antennas. Johan , from 1959 to 1968 as I recall. From that point , A M T over all really slid in a dangerous fall............ Ed Shaver
  3. Tony, that building style around here at least was somewhat popular . Brick was the way to go as both in Washington D C and here , there were some gigantic brick kilns . One in D C is still visible from the street on North Capital vane going into Downtown . Weathering Yellow pine ship lap is not rocket science as ken knows . Just do it in an uneven way . Now go build , onward and upward ! Ed Shaver
  4. Manny, you'll neva believe this , but I found such a Commander Starlight coupe once that looked nearly like this East of Richmond Virginia in the late 1960's . Shouldda saved it then ............ Ed Shaver
  5. Lee, uh yer not alone sir ................. Ed Shaver
  6. Generally, as long as a re- issue has all of it's parts from the original, I'm fine with it . Let the original kits remain with in someones kit vault ........... Ed Shaver

  10. 1958 was A M T's first year as a kit maker unto itself . prior to this , AMT had tie-ins with some Revell kits . The revell kits were Multi - piece bodies with a smattering of some custom pieces in mostly 1-32 scale . a couple , El Dorado brougham was 1-25th . So was the Pontiac Club de Mer . Still, A M T introduced the world to a 3-in 1 styling kit . Engines in a few could be successfully used in other kits on the 1960 versions that had engines . All this for 1.39 !!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  11. When Fiat-Chrysler does away with their Puerized Komputer system and their four door body , maybe I'll get interested in the company again ......... Ed Shaver

  15. You know , it's interesting . One "Younger " model builder here was a cryin da Blues bout how awful this kit was . Cryin bout the molded detail chassis , no engine detail , an so on an so on. Even when the Old builders like myself tried to politely explain to the youngster how this was the way this kit was manufactured in 1961, he wanted no part of our reality answers. One person even went so far as to try and explain in step by step that a frame from a 63 Ford could be utilized . he didn't want to hear that either . hey, you're model looks great and i want more pictures of you're progress. Sorry about the youngster that couldn't see the potential in you're beautiful build !!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  16. Chris , I thought only Dennis Doty knew how to do a decent History of a particular model kit . he of course was the founder of the now deceased Model Car Journal magazine and contributing writer for Collectable Automobile magazine . You sir have stepped to the plate and have done an outstanding job of compiling a lot of desirable information on old kits . Thank You ! Ed Shaver
  17. Jus remember kids , Ya'all don't have State income tax and state inspections no more and several other things cause the "locals " don't want to upset the tourists ! Ed Shaver
  18. Happy Birthday Sir !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  19. Ever thing in picture #1 Ever thing in picture #2 Ever thing on picture #3 Yep, all spray can again............... Ed Shaver
  20. Since I concentrate mainly on Gasoline pumps and service stations , research is key. I was the researcher for the book , Check the Oil by Scott Anderson in 1983 . Most of the photographs in that book still are mine . I'm also asked by members of both gasoline related chat forums , Primarily Petrolinia and Cheese pit stop to provide key pieces of information concerning rebuilding old gasoline pumps . I spent nearly three years just collecting the needed data to do the last diorama I have here , Twin Chimneys . While some call me an "Expert" , I do not , nor do I play one on television ! Ed Shaver
  21. Weeeeeeeeeell , I see the Illinois Model company is sposed to come back with a similar 72 . Yers looks jus fine to me . I can only hope this up an coming kit maker can deliver the goods to those who may want one as well. Ed Shaver

Yeah, I had a 76 G M C back in dallas years ago I wazzzzzz a pickin up bandoned stuff wiff. had me a Lectric winch, , Diamond tread bed, an a home built crane wiff a blinkin light right on da roof !!!!!!!!!!! Arlington Texas P D thought I was nutz, yeah , still am too ! Ed Shaver
  24. Hey Mike , thats a 24 stud 59-AB Block, what are ya gonna do for us who like the 8- BA and the 8 EL blocks , huh ????? Huh Huh ???? Ed Shaver
  25. Hummmmmmmmmm, originally back before the "Annual kits of 1958, all we had were "promos'. A M T historians have admitted openly to that fact . They designed a few competition and customizing parts threw them into a cardboard box and sold them for a dollar forty nine - GASP ! What you have now is essentially the same thing , only more expensive . To answer you're question , yep , I would use a current promo to do a model regardless ! Ed Shaver
