  1. OH MY GAWD! I remember living in Laramie, Wyoming in '98 and '03, they would close off I-80 and most of the roads coming in/out of Laramie. But since we lived in the valley, I never saw the 'big snow'.
  2. I like it.....I know what I will be doing this week. I'm with Eric, I would LOVE to know what you did for the lower air dam.
  3. Snow......good ol' snow. I have lived in northern IL my whole life, most of us just learned how to deal with it. But like a few people said on here, some drivers check out of hotel reality and drive like morons. All my cars have been rear drive and I also drove a limousine in the stuff, never really a problem. Common sense, sadly, its not so common anymore. When I was at college in 2007, down state here in IL. There was a major snow/ice storm. It was so bad, we did have a snow day. For over 20 years, Western IL did not have a snow day. So what did 11,000 18-25 year olds do? Keg parties in the snow. The school buses were not going anywhere but you did see the farm boys and people like me with BIG RWD cars out. Again, we are used to the stuff. As for Mr. Mikes comment on salt. I HATE it when so much is used. That when it dries up, it turns into a foggy haze of sorts, and everything is covered in it. This is what a real storm is. God I would NEVER want to deal with this ever in my life. Sorry if it brings up any bad memories with anyone.
  4. WOW, very nice! As for the tail lamps, that was sorta of the same idea I had in my head. I have a feeling thats the way I'm gona go. Your front bumper is EXACTLY what I need. I have tried to rebuild the front "Ford" bar that goes across the headlamps and the front air spoiler, and it so far has turned into a turd. I have a few days off next week, thanks to cut backs in hours. So I'm gona have a lot of one on one time with this project. Thank you for the info Jason.
  5. Awesome!
  6. Thank you. I was looking at the engine bay, I looked at it, even no owning one of these, I thought it just looked wrong. I wonder if Hobby Lobby carries the '93 Cobra kit? There are no longer any real well stocked hobby shops with in driving distance here in the NW burbs of Chicago anymore.
  7. What I was thinking of doing. Just taking sheet plastic, using that for the back plate of the tail lamp. This would make the recessed edges in black. Then with clear sheet plastic, making the three lamp "pods" that make up the rest of the tail lamp. I already took my two GT style tail lamps and filed them down flat. I don't if I want to scribe lines that or try my idea like the one above. Yea, as for the window.....thats my biggest hump. It got lost when my folks moved three times since 1993. I also lost an original '70 Ford LTD and '70 Thunderbird kit. Thank God the '71 Thunderbird was reissued and I can get trans parts to make a '70 Galaxie to a LTD from The Modelhaus. My aunt and uncle live in Collieville (don't think that was spelled right), between Dallas and Fort Worth and my dad was from Brownsville. Anytime I go to the wrecking yards, its like Christmas. There are so many more older cars than here in Chicago.
  8. WOW, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I'm still trying to figure out how to make the tail lamps. And I also lost the rear "glass" to the AMM kit. But these ref photos will be a great starting point. You don't really see that many clean '87 - '92 foxes anymore up here in Chicago. Most are rotting out or were beat to a pulp. Even my '04 Mustang started to rust inside the welds under the door by 2007. Thank you!
  9. Thank you. This was my first major surgery on a project like this. The plastic strips I used, it came out a bit too thick. The local hobby shop had a limited supply of what I needed. Thats alright though, a little sanding will thin it out were I need it.
  10. Charlie, this stuff is just awesome. I did a few other kits I screwed up the paint on. It takes a few thicker coats and longer amount of time with the Testers Lacquer system. None the less, it still works like a charm.
  11. I agree Greg. The one I remember from HS had them. It sure was a pretty car, too bad the kid wrecked the little car a few years later.
  12. mmmm, I thought the trim that was on AAM kit was wrong. It looked like this: http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images...70025_large.jpg I am doing my coupe from memory. There where a handful of them while I was in high school (1994-1998) and this one will be one that I really liked, white with a red interior. I thought the side trim looked like this: http://www.mustangspecs.com/carpics/915.0LX.jpg As for pictures. Anything you can send to me would be AWESOME. I am looking for a nice front clip picture. The AAM coupe I have, I must have snapped off the "Ford" grill piece and the chin spoiler. Its driven me nuts trying to fix that. Also for the engine, that is still up in the air. From what I have seen, the engine bay layout is wrong to. I guess its for a mid 80s fox. I don't know if I want to go ahead and switch a correct engine bay from the '92 GT drop top.
  13. The latest reissue 1970 Buick Wildcat. I have never seen one up and personal but it sure looks like a great looking car. I ordered for my birthday (Nov 27) a few kits from Modelhaus. 1972 Ford LTD two door 1972 Ford Custom 500 and 1993 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon I will be taking delivery (crossing my fingers) of a '96 Roady in March or April. Its my first LT-1, I'm REALLY excited over this one. I bought two Modelhaus kits when I graduated college in May 2008. A '70 LTD Ford Country Squire and the '73 Chevrolet Kingswood Estate wagon. These two kits are brilliant. All I had to really do was wash them, little prep work, and paint.
  14. So after about 15 years, I went for it. I bought this All American Models '92 Mustang notchback when I was 12 or 13..... Little did I know how much prep work was needed on a resin kit. Well at the hands of a child, the poor thing didnt stand a chance. I painted it Testers red, no primer. Didn't like it, so I painted it silver, and yes with primer. STILL did not like it. Painted it this God awful green. From that point on, it never was finished. I saw the postings on the Mustang fox body notchback, remembered I have one. Did a little digging and there it was, still sitting the plastic I wrapped it in. I also found I shelled out for the 10 hole rims from Replicas and Minitures of Maryland (I think that was it). So after reading everything I could find on here about resin, resin stripping, painting, bondo, and everything thats needed to build a proper resin model, I dived in. Little did I know, it was a can of worms I opened up. But it will teach me a lot and sharpen my skills. I was very worried about stripping paint off of resin. Saw that everyone seemed to have great luck with Easy Off. So I tried it myself. I am now a fan of this stuff. It stripped three layers of paint like it was butter. As for the trim. It looks to be for a mid 80s model. So I lightly used my dremel to remove some of it, then hand sanded the rest off. For its replacement just used strip plastic. Doing this was new to me too, I'm pretty happy how it turned out.
  15. Eric, that is pretty darn close. Here are two pictures of my old truck with the hubcaps...... If you guys decide to cast a few in resin, please let me know. Been wanting to do a model of my '91 for a LONG time.
  16. This is really cool, great job! Where did you get the Stag? I have NEVER seen one before as a model.
  17. Yea, I have been looking for the same wheel covers. I had a '91 F-250 and had been wanting to do a model like mine for a long time......just can find the right wheel covers.
  18. When I came back for Thanksgiving and Christmas break from college, I worked for a limousine company. They had a fleet of 75 cars & buses. Other than the buses, all where Lincoln Town Cars and Mercury Grand Marquis It was a mix, from four door factory cars, to custom 120 limousines. These are based off the same platform as the Crown Vic. When I graduated in May of 2008, I could not find a job in my field (still can not), so I went back to limousine driving. All my cars I grew up with were RWD and I grew up around Chicago. The only time I got stuck, four and half ours south west of where I live in the burbs. It was in my Mustang, no snow tires......nuff said. Someone had said, its all in how you drive. We had storm after storm last winter here in Chicago. It was my first season with the 120, I thought for sure I would get stuck. Never did, she had 340k on the clock, kept me warm, also looked like 1983 barfed up its mirrors, neon strobe lights, and cheep plastic decor. Most nights when the storms would hit, all what was left at 3-4am, snow plows, police, and livery drivers....... As far as I see it, its not RWD thats a problem, its the operator that makes it into one.
  19. I agree on snow tires. Wish I could have afforded them when I was in college. Worst cars I had in snow: My '04 Mustang, she thinks its play time when its wet, dry, snowy, windy....... Best cars I had in snow: '76 Ford LTD four door, '78 Thunderbird, all my Volvo 240 wagons ('79, '81, and '83), '79 & '96 Lincoln Town Car, the one that seemed so LOVE snow and saved me from being late for class, my '77 LTD Country Squire.
  20. Nice build. I built one a few years ago, that little car put up a fight. Could never fit a few pieces right.....
  21. Simply awesome work Emily. My first model melted from the paint....... Looks like your a natural at this!
  22. This is just really cool. I had no idea someone made a Grand Wagoneer, another to add to list of "wants". I can't wait to see how the wood panels go. I want to add some factory wood sides to my '77 AMC Pacer wagon.......
  23. I was about 6 or 7 and my dad bought me a 1979 Cadillac Coupe Deville from JoHan. I remember painting it bright red. It was a rattle can my dad used for repainting his Toro lawn mower, little did I know it was lacquer. Sure made that half vinyl look more realistic.
  24. Yea, I saw your Monte Carlo and said to myself "I think its time to post some pictures". Also, we used the same period correct Calif lic. plates, along with the same numbers.
  25. Thanks guys! I have a soft spot for the "under dog" of cars that most just ignore. I built a few Vegas, Pintos, and Chevettes, when I was 10-14 years old. My folks thought I lost it. All three of these cars were built with out a paint box, just rattle caned in my dorm. I would walk down my hallway to the open stairwell and paint away. I was caught by the campus police when I was painting the Nova. But when I showed them what I was doing, they just laughed. I guess they thought I was "huffing".
