welcome abaord Thomas if memory serves me well we used to have a "newbee" section but im not sure where it went so right here is fine we'd all love to see some models you build this is a great place to be, lots of good folks with all the hints and tips you'll ever need
-
iether way is fine have a look at some hotwheels, they are always great for paint job ideas
-
you mean you actually FINISH one model before you start another? i should try this aproach...but not any time soon i actually went to town on my entry the way my mercury marauder has been going i really wanted to burn rubber on this baby before it hit the wall so far i got the engine mostly painted and assembled (ditching the W30 intake and going with 3 2 barrels instead) and i swapped out the rims for some magnum 500s i actually found 2 sets that i could combine to make a nicely matched set of deep and shallows perfect for keeping the low budget police look going i also prepped the body (which was exceptionally clean) and shot the white paint once that cures ill tape it off and paint the front fenders, roof and rear qaurters black i wonder if i should put a light bar on top?
-
if you have a lead, i would really be interested mine are comepletly gone i guess ill write it up as a trial version the good news in im building in 1/25 scale if this were to happen in 1:1 scale i'd be out thousand of dollars...now the damage is less then 10 bucks hope you find a good one to build
-
not bad if you have a set of black yenko stripes and you can scan them for me i might be able to hook you up with some red ones
-
good luck building a sleeper with a southern stocker body
-
no help here brother, only lowrider i ever did was the one in my avatar but what is it you want to cut ? the roof, the suspension ? in the mean time, look over this http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search§ion=search&do=search&fromsearch=1 its a quick search of our "workbench" with lowrider in the title should be able to find some good info/tricks/inspiration there

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
diymirage replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
thanks im building it like you would in real life the story behind it is burried somewhere in here, but to save you from searching through 161 pages of it here are the cliff notes johnnie had an old chevelle him and his boy were rebuilding into a drag car poor johhnie, he bought us enough time to drop the 350 from the farmtruck into the chevelle (the 454 was being rebuild) but he paid for it dearly we met a small caravan just outside of town and all headed north together while with the caravan we partook on scouting trip during one of those trips we came across a burned out chevelle it looks like it hit a mine or something that blew the bottom end of the motor out we were able to scavenge the blower and mount it onto galloper rather than hunting down a muffler cutter and modifying the beautyfull yellow hood we just bolted the hood from the burned out chevelle unto galloper and that is how that 80s hood ended up on this escape pod -
and that is exactly why my entry will look like a cop car...i might even put on some "highway patrol" decals on it for good measure as for the slant six'ums...that would ROCK could you turn one around so that its situated as a V12?
-
looks great my only suggestion is to get some different paint for those tail lights i use tamiya stop red paint (i believe) it looks like clear red plastic once it dries other than that, great model
-
This is what i was planning on building ,if it's ok ? This is all I've got of the kit , got in a box of parts. 73 Duster 50 Bucks !!!!!
-
looks very nice paint is a real shiner and i like your photo booth, simple but effective (i have a garage diorama i use for my backdrops and i have a sheet of aluminum wrapped in that same patern. by dropping that sheet down it turns my garage into a showroom)
-
well, i decided to shoot the rest of the paint just to see how it would come out and i REALLY botched it up this time i used a combination of tapes on this, tamiya for the main lines, painters for the big coverings and a third tape i dont know what it is, some plastic tape i bought at a model shop ages ago well, the plastic tape turned out to be detrimental to the underlying paint job when i removed it it pulled the paint right off...right down to bare plastic i also screwed up the white when i taped it off for the black, on the side panel you can tell where i pressed the tape down before the paint was hard and it left indentations here is what it looks like (actually happy with the design...just hate i screwed it up) the body will go into the purple pond but at the same time i placed a post in the wanted section not sure if ill be able to save this
-
sounds like a real nice colour combo planning on adding some red stripes or other small accents to the body ?
-
so...if i remember this right we are entering into a ilegal street race across state lines ? i think i will enter into this not sure what i will build but it will be black and white (nothing like running through speed traps in a cruizer right?) one question though, why start a "under glass" post before we even start building ? i would suggest moving the "under glass" post into 2013
-
well totally botched up the paint on it i went with some thinned out nailpolish maybe it would have gone well over a white primer but shot over the grey it looks...well...grey still havent decided if im keeping it or shooting over it i guess it looks allright but its not what i had in mind iether way, i will be adding black panels and racing stripes with white accents
-
glad to see your breating some new life into that kit (havent seen the GTX yet) what motor is in there? i really like the intake on it

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
diymirage replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
wow..i actually got something to show my main focus has been on the interior tub and i am happy with the way it is now seats are from the parts box steering wheels is from a VW street bug gauges are from the 64 marauder (pretty happy with the way they came out) CB is from the parts box and guns are from roscoes cruiser come to think of it, this is also the first time im able to show it with the engine in place i had to rebuild the cross member on the frame and lengthen the draveshaft to make the 350 RBA to sit right where i wanted it but i think i managed to get it just right once i get the headers in i can wire her and mount her permanently i have also mounted the gas cylinders in the trunk and ran a few lines to them im still planning on making some gauges on there -
allright guys, had a fe busy days for starters, i got the interior done im not 100 % pleased with it but this is where it will stay i tried getting the stock seats in there but i couldnt get the finish to match what i had allready done to the back seat and i really liked the finish on these custom seats i i just went with them its hard to capture in a picture but i like the way my gauges came out i used the same wire i use to connect pieces of exhaust to paint on the needle very pleased with the way that came out i also got the engine installed and what a massacre that wat somehow i could not fit the belts and the supercharger in the engine bay while still seating the engine properly it all ended up breaking off so its back to the drawing board on that on i know i dont have an alternative intake and i dont want to just slap the pie tin air filter on so hopefully i can massage the supercharger set up back in there in the mean time i also finished the fire wall i will be putting some wire in the brake booster for effect later this is the last mock up before hitting the paint booth oh, and this is the paint that will go on there ive also decided on a paintsceme...it will be the same as on the hotwheels 64 custom galaxy from thier highway series
