  1. yeah, but you are NOT suposed to grab hold of a piece of tape with wet paint on it and then place your fingers square on the surface of the car that was taped off the paint tranfered from the tape onto my finger and then from my finger onto the hood
  2. thanks i still need to get me a set of rims from somewhere i posted it in the wanted section so hopefully one will pop up soon
  3. thanks, ive seen a A body mopar in this paintsceme somehwere, ill try to find a pic of it
  4. heres a shot of the body but it is rough...the paint came out all ripped and what not im actually rather pleased with it except for one spot on the hood, where i got to eager to pull the masking tape off before the paint had fully dried and as a result i got a nice red fingerprint on the alclad hood hopefully i can buff it out here is a shot of the tires im having a hard time capturing it in a picture but i can put the rim in from either side putting the wrincle where it belongs...or not if i dont want too
  5. i've heard that complaint before David and looking back i wish i had paid more attention to see if my wheel sections were marked i did however pay attention to the wrinkles and came to the conclusion its no big deal the way my tires are cast i can put both of them facing the right way, both of them the wrong way or even mix and math ill be sure to include pics in my next update like i mentioned before, mine is the 73 release maybe they changed the tires in newer releases ?
  6. thanks the body is alclad (at least the front half of it) and its a bit spotty but i can live with that the frame is rustoleum cherry red and it really pops it took a while to properly dry but im very pleased with it hopefully i can stay on the ball with this one and get her done soon i know this kit was once released as a "easy build" kit so it shouln't be too complicated not sure what to do about the missing parts though, looks like ill be doing sme scratchbuilding after all (on a side note, the two rear back braces in the frame were missing so those were scratched allready)
  7. since you asked for it Jim enjoy here is the body and the interior firewall or whatever its called and here is the interior inserted into the body sitting next to the frame im really pleased with the way the red came out ,it is exactly what i envisioned
  8. well, it turned out i need more then just the wheels the radius rods are missing , aswell as the top part of the blower on the bright side, i did get to slap on some paint today
  9. hey guys after moving into a new house and just being way to busy to do anything model related i finally started a new project today (why finish an old one when you can start a new one right ) the subject is a mongram cop-out duster...from 1973 this model is so old it has "made in america" molded on the inside of the body anywho, this will be a quick build, nothing fancy, just to get something on the shelf before the end off the year pics will follow later but unless you like seeing bare frame rails there really isn't anything to show anyway i got the kit in on trade ages ago and it is missing a few small parts, the main things (i think) are the wheels anyone have a nice set?
  10. mhhh, a nice restaurant in belgium ? im thinking frietkot ?
  11. looks like my 75 dart which, coincedentally, also has a plymouth grille http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=38061
  12. heres a ratrod ive started once
  13. in case anyone is wondering...im still working on this and i actually put the seats in my monte today
  14. wow, quite a bit of progress since my last entry after responding to a MAY-DAY call we got cut off from the group there was a whole zombie front in between us but we managed to circle through the mountains and rejoin the convoy today (translation: we just moved into a new house and i finally got the model room set up and ready to go again)
  15. so what your saying is this would NEVER have happened if he had left the cleaning to his wife ? they just changed the laws here im Michigan that you dont need to have a helmet on anymore either but if the wifey caught me riding without one i bet she'd make me wish i was wearing one
  16. looks like your off to a good start dont forget to paint the little panel between the headlights to match the body (its often overlooked)
  17. best part about this hobby is the set backs and how you fix them here is one of my biggest set backs i had a vision for this car it was going to be owned by a 16 year old kid, still in highschool it was one of those cars where if you only had enough money for a new carb or to recover the front seat youd go with the carb since the seats didnt make you any faster the car would have rust spots, a mismatched hood, faded yellow paint and steelies with maybe a build 440 in it well, you can imagine how heart broken i was when i first laid down the paint, it was by far the best paintjob i had ever done, there was NO WAY i would give this the junker treatment so now i had to completly change my approach to this car and it ended up being a por-touring style build along the same lines i just installed the perfect glass yesterday it looks the best glass has ever looked on one of my models every pillar is glued on, it fits perfectly and it is immaculate and this is the body it went in
  18. no problem there racer, a post about it pops up every so often its somewhat of a public secret
  19. sign up for their email adds and you get one every other week (give or take) same thing goes for hobby lobby by the way
  20. that reminds me of a story i heard from a guy i know said his cousin (who lived out near the woods) had sustained 3rd grade burns pouring gasoline into his 4 wheeler i lust laughed at him and told him "no way, he was prolly coocking up meth and blew up the garage" you wont believe how mad the guy got that i dared accusing his cousin of something like that i few days later he had to appologize to me because the docters aswell as the cops thought my version of the story was a lot closer to the truth the his 4 wheeler idea
  21. dont worry guys, it isnt , we had just moved in and put everything where there was room the paintbooth will mostl likely move to the opposite side of the room, near the fuse box as a mather of fact, there isnt even an outlet on that side of the room thought to be honoust, im wondering if i should build a closet for that heater now?
  22. put it there ? noooo, erm, its just staged thats right, staged lol im still trying to figure out where everything goes but right next to an open flame may not be the best place for a spray booth...allthough...it might help with curing times Andy, those are outside walls but they are all in the basement so i would have to duct up somehow aswell i wonder if it would be possible to find the origenal dryer duct and use that ? (we live in a duplex with her parents next door so when it was time to move the washer and dryer i accidentally put them in the wrong side and hooked them up there) then i just need to block off the other side so the fumes dont enter the laudry room as for filters, there is one furnace filter that sits in the bottom of the spray booth but a second one wouldnt hurt (not sure if it would help though)
  23. that would have been a good idea Jim but money was tight on this budget (notice the drywall is only on one side of the wall?) so no paint for me luckily there was some paint on the floor allread so that is covered (pun intended) i do still want to get a workbench in there someday maybe i can arrange it so that the weight bench acts as a seat for the drums, the paintbooth and even the workbench ?
  24. just kidding guys, i wouldnt leave all hanging here is the story back in the days the castle was build the goverment taxed EVERYTHING but something were taxed higher then others a peice of oak lumber for instance was taxed TWICE as heavy as a piece of pine so, what did the Dutch noblemen do ? (peasants couldnt afford oak to begin with) the painted thier oak and then flat out said it was pine BUT in order to offset the cost of the paint they would mix in oxen blood which was way cheaper then paint and that is where it gets not only its hue but also its name i thought that was pretty cool [/end story]
  25. speaking of blood in the paint i was building this dog house a while ago and i had decided the perfect colour for it was a shade of red called "oxen blood red" dunno where the name came from but in my head i KNEW the right colour for the doghouse was oxenblood red so i went over to the local hardware store and asked the girl for oxenblood red she looked at me like i was crazy, shed never heard of it before but she was willing to look it up none of her suppliers had a paint by that colour so i ended up going with a boring "red barn" paint fast forward a few months and me and the wifey are back in the Netherlands during one of our trips we decide to take a tour of a local castle the showed us EVERYTHING, the hunts room, the living quarters, the kitchen the kitchen when we got to the kitchen i noticed something just about every piece of wood in there was painted what had to be OXEN BLOOD RED so i asked the guide about it and appearantly there is a story behind it
