  1. thats a cool project i might have an idea for an engine to consider you know those engines you often see in these cars with the 3 carb set up and the little "elbow" intake on top? (you know, the ones that bend forward) well...imagine 3 of these on each side sticking out of the hood with a prosche flat 6 sandwiched in between
  2. get yourself a standard tape measure and a metric ruler 1 inch is 25.4 millimeters 25.4 divided by 25 is 1.016, lets just call it 1 so on a 1:25 scale 1 inch is 1 MM so if the track in real life is 144 inches the scale version should be 144 MM (5.67 inches)
  3. now send it off to the resin caster
  4. my boss had a good explation for this whole confusion he actually is brazilian and he knows this lady who is mayan well, her mothers mother spoke mayan and she had explained to her how the mayan word for "world" is very similair to the mayan world for "twinkie" well, over the years the prohpecy has been copied so many times that "twinkie" got accidentilly turned into "world" they never prophecied the end of the world they prophecied the end of the twinkie and...they were right
  5. ENGINES...MOCKED-UP!!! Here is the Transmission in place...
  6. oh wow that looks cool i also like the added touch of snow (got a build thread ?) and i am very impressed to see Red Green in there a little bit of duct tape and she'll be purring like a kitten again
  7. thats cool to hear man...how old does that make you...22, 23? welding is a great skill to know but im not sure if it would make a good carreer i mean, how many 40 plus welders do you know ? its a tough job still if you can find something you enjoy doing for the rest of your life thats worth something too
  8. thanks for the advise guys (ill advertise it as a 427) as for the scripts, i will have to try that next time because the scripts on this baby are gone (i put a wanted ad in the wanted section for help on this...hoping someone is able to "copy" the scripts for me) on the bright side, i am one step closer to slapping paint on
  9. ill have to try that next time Daniel this was the first time i tried to foil before painting and it did not go well no chances for a redo iether since the scripts are now completly gone (i wonder if someone could make me a set of scripts with the superglue and all ?) Mark, im gonna have to look into that im not displeased with the way this is coming out so far though
  10. yeah, no kidding i really shot myself in the foot with those scripts almost thinking of getting a new body and starting over but ill probably just leave them off altogether too bad hopefully someone can help me out with this though the model does have the kit supplied engine is it (as evidenced by the gaping hole in the block for the axle ) i wonder which displacement was more comon (im sure the recipient will ask about it) but if i get to call it its a 427 (though i thought they had different valve covers...maybe im thinking of 429s)
  11. thanks for all the kind words guys i managed to get a little detailing done on the underside its coming along nicely i did run into a snatch though i tried to do the "BMF over script before painting them" thing and i totally screwed it up long story short...i sanded off the scripts sooooo what are my options here ? are there script decals out there for those 64 marauders or maybe even a photo etch set?
  12. thanks, i thought it might have been a paxton but i wasnt sure any info on the actual motor ? (i can tell its not a 440 or a hemi )
  13. it looks cool but i dont know if i would like it on a model, the flakes may be well out of scale
  14. interesting way to keep the tires from getting flatspots in them
  15. you know Benoit, if you really want to know you can always send a PM to the guy who made it like that and just ask him i have met exactly one jackrabbit in all the time ive been on this forum and you'll find most everyone here would be happy to help you (just dont tell em your canadian )
  16. thanks Bart, i've seen some of his work (actually, im pretty sure i have some of his work) and it is top notch ill definatly check in with him on that supercharger i love seeing big old blower scoops sticking out through hoods but there is always somehting to be said about retaining the factory lines and still packing a punch aswell as for the model im still working hard on the body ive foiled the emblems before paint (for the first time) and im working hard at sanding/polishing it back up to look right before i start thinking of paint im thinking of going with nailpolish i wanted to go with just a blue paintjob to somewhat keep it looking factory (only reason im building this one is because its a 64 and i want it to keep looking that way) but the body is beggin me to go with a blue body with a white hood top and trunk and white skirts the lines of the car flow so nice its almost like i have too any thoughts on that ?
  17. thanks Racer im not a big ford fan but that induction system should be cast by someone its great for a sleeper car and i love having a blown motor that still allows the use of a stock, uncut hood i think my only other option is the latham that Alan Raab from Ma's resin offers (greatl little number too) Tim, thanks for the info i see now how the interior are different but ive gotten to far to stop and adress the issues (not saying i would have fixed it if i realized it earlier anyway) those shots will really help me when i go to try and add some detail to the tub come to think of it, there isnt a hole in the tunnel for a shifter, i just assumed this model was a column shift...i wonder if that was accurate
  18. hey guys a quick update i got some work done on the interior it came out looking a lot more yellow then i had envisioned but it think it looks pretty good the darker shade on the seats is pastel scrapped with a knife and rubbed in while the paint was still tacky im gonna have to go out and buy a stick of white pastel and hit it again to tone it down some i think i still need to foil the rear speaker (is that what that little grille is in the back seat?) and i think im going to foil that grille in the tunnel...unless someone has any idea what material that should be (or what in the world its for) i got most of the engine done aswell (yay) still needs some more wires, the fan and some more detailing on a side note, anyone know what engine and supercharger this is ?
  19. pastels will do that too or a really REALLY louzy alclad job
  20. that car started out as a stockcar...it came quite a way really? i thought they painted thier engine bays black aswell ohh well
  21. ive always been a big fan of having the engine bay painted, specially on cars that came like that from the factory you ever see a car that has been repainted? we have these really cheap body shops here that advertize thier $299 special to repaint a car but they dont do a proper job at it you open the door and the doorjambs are a different shade then the rest because they didnt take the time to do it right thats how i feel when i see a car with a black engine bay now, if i were to build a stock chevy the engine bay most likely would be black because thats the way they came off the line but if i were to build a show car chevy it would be matched to the body specially if you manage to get the paint to look as good as yours does its a shame not to do the engine bay but like you said, it is your model and you can build it however you want hey, you even get to make up the story behind it...maybe the guy who owns it grew up on chevies but wanted a real muscle car and so he bought a dodge and painted the engine bay black so as not to upset his dad who is only used to black engine bays
  22. thats cool Richard i dont think i have ever heard anything good about the gamma...i know they never had what i needed always ended up having to go to the formido instead
  23. looking good has nothing to do with rules (thoug life is a lot harder on those who do not grasp the concept of them) iether way, it is your model and you can make it look as realistic or as toying or as factory or as era correct or as abused as you would like i just tought i'd inform you of the way these ma mopar thought these cars should look
  24. maybe you can spot them in here ? http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=46231&page=1
