thats it i quit i cant even build something like that in a year
-
the colour should be simple enough to match, its the scaling that will be tough because im basically making 2 different decals on top of that, i dont have any 69 novas in my stash (only a 66) so that makes it tough to get the sizing perfect iether way, ill get her done
-
speaking of loopholes, you guys think i should buy this and enter it ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polar-Lights-Back-To-The-Future-Time-Machine-snap-together-model-car-kit-/121044517738?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item1c2ed0c36a

you thought the carpet monster was bad?

there actually allready is a picture of him up in my room but this one would definatly be a nice addition ive build a few snap kits with him allready and i cant wait untill he's old enough to really join me at the bench (though im afraid as soon as he starts building models it wont be long till he starts wrecking 1:1 cars...if he's anything like Randy implies) -
here is a shot of the porch when it was first assembled there is a very nice molded in detail here and here is a shot of the porch after some detailing i put down a coat of white paint to bring out the mortar (is it still called mortar after it dries?) and then slapped on a quick coating of pastel i think there is still too light a colour there so more pastel will be added later

see, thats the problem with nerds...its a viscious circle me...im cool (ill skip some of the results of how cool i am because this is a family forum) and as a result i got a son to send out to do the snow plowing -
just like the real canon ball run..just because they start early doesnt mean they finish first

what really blew my mind is that i looked up the manufacture and thier "factory direct" prices turns out i only paid 4 cents more at my local hobby shop over buying it online (asuming shipping is free) the way i envision this is a mix between a bavarian vilage and a ractrack kinda like i imagine nurnberg to be there is a straight in the track where i want to build some grand stands then on the far corner there is a section where the entire part of the track is suspended im thinking of putting a beach or marina on that corner other then that i want to scatter some homes, villas and maybe a few barns across the rest of the layout with a carpet of grass and maybe some trees to cover up the rest of the 8X4 (ill try to snap a pic of the whole track later)

Ya, but he's your little monster! -
(not really a diorama but the closest thing to it) for Christmass this year i bought my boy an HO scale slot car track this track measures 38 feet and i mounted it on a 4X8 sheet of plywood after running to for a week or so i decided what this track needs is some scenery my first (and at this point only) addition is the maxwell avenue home by rix products this is my first expeirience with this manufacturer and im very impressed with them they managed to use each mold twice (meaning you have each tree twice) this leaves you with a few extra parts and cuts thier production costs in half, seems like a win win situation to me i have build little houses like this ages ago when i was 12 or so and i was not very impressed with myself now that im a decade or so older and a little bit more skilled im hoping this will come out looking much better this will be a slow moving project (mainly because of the cost of the kits and how many of them i need) but there will be updates at times (i hope) any advise and tips will be apreciated here is the kit (no progress yet)

just so you know...the way i envision a future utopia gas has dropped to $0.75 per gallon and ma mopar decided to mass produce a modern version of the DOHC HEMI

VOLARE or ASPEN Parts, spoilers, flares....
diymirage replied to fastram's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
i have several pieces Alan Raab made and they are all top notch his delivery time is a bit long but totally understandable considering he has an actual job and just does the resin buisness on the side and on top of it, its well worth the wait -
quick little update ive changed out the resin spyder for what i believe to be resin daisies (they are skinnier up front which allows me to still fit inside the fenders without major modifications im very excited about the way the spindels are on this kit i will be able to flip them around and drop the front end by 3-4 scale inchers...all in less time then it will take me to trave a qaurter mile (which isnt very long at all)

hey guys i bought myself a new set of paint brushes for Christmass and i would like to get as much enjoyment as possible out of them which brings up the following question: what is the best way to treat brushes? how do you clean them, how do you store, how do you use them? (mods, i wasnt sure if this was the right location or not but if it is not please feel free to move it)

that looks great Sjefke (right, all belgium guys are called Sjefke ) i love what you have done to the chassis it looks very realistic what techniques did you use on it ? (oh and as a rule of thumb, america is 6 hours behind you, some states more, some states less)
-
wow, that looks just like my first car, a 89 citroen BX pretty cool set up looking forward to seeing a mill in there
-
but still sporting the stacks right in the mean time ive been looking at my fairlane kit and ive decided 2 things 1: this model will be rolling on spyder rims (wish i could tell you who cast these great resin pieces but alas, i dont pay attention) 2: she will be redubbed as a 1966 ford FASTLANE....now where did i leave those nitrous bottles?
-
looks great i like these type of builds (i have one planned for an Xwing fighter but i have yet to find one at the right price)

why do some people insist on details?
diymirage replied to meaneyme's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i play drums i have a very basic drum set, bass drum, floor drum, 2 toms and a snare every once in a while i see a music video where the drummer had a drumset with a drum count well over 20 pieces, you know the type, the ones you need to be airlifted into because of how many drums there are ive thought off getting a kit like that before because of the "coolness: level but i have refrained from it every time because i have yet to master my skills to get the best out off the few drums i allready i believe the same principle applies to aftermarket parts on models -
kinda like this puppy ?

thanks Wayne took me about 3 minutes of ebay browsing before i pulled the trigger on a blown 427 engine not sure if i will drop that on completly or try to match the blower to the 390 cant wait to see the two mopars you got in the works...big fan of those
-
allright, this will be my entry :AMT1966 ford fairlane GT/A (havent decided on a tranny yet) with the 390 i am only in the parts gathering stage so it may be a while before i actually start building the engine will be the kit supplied 390 with hop up parts on a side note, anyone have any hop up parts for this engine? i chose this kit since it was the only one in my stash with a clean enough looking frame that will allow me my first try at tubbing (come to think of it, i have tubbed one kit before, but that was a truck)
