as much as i may or may not agree with you i think we should have some parameters that are set and stay set so i would just try to find a subject within those parameters regardles of our own preferences actually, i find this part of the alure of a build off, take the drifter buildoff im hosting for instance my entry is a acura RSX. if it wasnt for this build off i would have never build that car and just to put it out there...i think you, davezin, should build a ford ranchero thats right up your alley is it not ?

im glad you asked behold dont worry guys this is not my entry for this entry i am planning to use a 1954 volkswagen beetle i will replace the engine with a 1.8 turbo from a golf and install it in the front that way i can scratchbuild the bed right into the back of the car dont worry dukefan69, im just messing with you i wont be entering this build off, too much on the desk right now

most of the times a bi-turbo setup will consist of a inline engine (as mentioned by the red ranger) with two turbos HOWEVER the two turbos on a bi-turbo engine are NOT identical you see, smaller turbos creat less boost then larger turbos but smaller turbos create boost sooner then larger turbos and vice versa so here is a hypothetical setup on a bi turbo lets say were using a volkwagen K03 and K04 turbo the K03 starts making power at about 2700 RPM and will push 17 PSI through about 4000 RMP and taper down after them the K04 starts making power at about 3800 RPM and will push 23 PSI through redline so the smaller turbo is effective at lower RMP but looses efficiency after 4000 RPM the larger turbo makes great power on higher RPM range but has terrible boost lag since it doenst kick un untill 3800 RPM by installing both of them on a single engine you can get the of the line performance of the K03 with the top end power of the K04 cliff notes : a twin turbo uses identical turbos, one for each bank a bi-turbo uses two different turbos on one bank of cylinders

LOBBS, i cant wiat for the day i can share my hobbies with my child i was out at the beach yesterday with my niece and nephew (9 and 11) and i was thinking how much fun it would be to have one of my own running there with me it is quite the excitement as for the hobbyroom since i am going to build it per spec. any suggestions ? -
the idea is simple when you compress anything you create heat on top of that the turbo is driven by hot exhaust gasses so you have cold air going through a hot turbo and being compressed the result is hot air (regardless of the amount of turbos it passes through) now, here is the main issue, you are building a twin turbo, not a bi-turbo right ? that means you have two identical turbos, one per bank so here is the intake path air filter -> turbo turbo -> intercooler intercooler -> intake manifold or throtle body so in short, your awnser is YES, put a intercooler between the turbos output and the engines intake

that is looking pretty sick not sure if its a military vehicle though, i mean, would the military really fork out the money for those kind of seats (I.E. creature comfort) all the custom work is great

thanks for all the advise guys i allready slapped on a thin coat of spackling on the side of the strip i sanded and painted it too look like concrete for the actual strip i have some very fine dark grey/almost black sand that i am going to gleu on that should give me the right colour and texture for the asphalt excelent idea on the tires too, i was planning on airbrushing some burn rubber marks at the line but that might look better as for the ford engine.... its a revell parts pack blown 427 ford mill donated by MikeMc
-
thanks i actually thought about recreating an existing strip but then i decided to take the easy way out im thinking of calling it thunder alley i got some more work done to it yesterday, i layed the concrete and put a cout of primer on both walls i also cut down a peice of screen door to serve as a wire link fence (that looks pretty good actually) i think im ready to pave the asphalt today

great idea i should run that by the wife but on the other hand, i have a hard time stacking (im Dutch you know ) -
you know, if you slap that engine in the bed there will be plenty of room for fans, atenemarators and what have you it will also give you a better weight distribution for pulling some wheelies love the ways those cragars look once inked you know...theres a ford waiting for this truck at the next trafic light

OOBs can be great to get you out of that funk they are just what the docter ordered to get you going again and on top of that, OOBs are where you can really shine, show what you can do with the kit and the kit alone i think the next time i "organize" a build off i just might make it a OO buildoff with just a limited selection of kits to choose from (say the B body cars) and see how people perform under such a tight "poetic" budget

it is a rush man we have been trying for a while (though i think i might have been trying a little harder then she has ) i dont think it has fully settled in on the other hand, we were over at the doctor yesterday and with this little audiothingamabobber i could hear his heartbeat it was awesome -
hey guys i have had plans to build a dragstrip for a while now but i finally got started this will be my second diorama so dont expect anything miraculous the base will be a 21,5 inch wide peice of 3/8th partical board it will depict the staging area and starting line the back of the dio will be a 5 foot tall retaining wall with a fence on top of it the front will be open but i am planning on making that look like concrete ( so only the actual lanes will be paved with asphalt) the concrete will get plaster on it to hide the wood grain, the asphalt will be black sand gleud on (the black sand might be too black but i can always spray paint it right? ) i will also build the 5 foot tall devider in between the two staging lanes i am planning on putting a water hose on there the tree will be courtesy of smart-resins (seemed fitting to trade a set of drag tires for it) and as always feel free to suply advise or ideas (the pics are not too great but it shows the idea ( i still need to isntall the fence but again, you get the idea) (wouldnt that surprise you the car with the engine in it takes of much faster )

this will be a completely new tooling the house doesnt have a finished basement so i get to pick eveything from floorcovering to drywall (get to install it all myself too im afraid) when we moved in we did the entire upstairs, paint flooring and what not so all the babys room needs is for me to evacuate it -

thanks guys the big day is set for march 17 , one month after the wifeys birthday as for the mobile hobby set up, when i first picked the hoby back up i got a small rolling desk with a few shelves and a drawer in it but when we bought the house this januari i slowly but surely moved into the spare bedroom lining it with bookcases on which i keep my kits, tools partsboxes and what nots but i guess that is called the nursery now and no place for paints and glues (i got a feeling im going to be missing that smell in there) on the bright side, i get to pick one of the basement rooms and finish it to my likings -
well guys its official the wife and i went to the doctor today and we got the hear our first childs heartbeat she is 10 weeks along so it looks like that spare bedroom on the mainlevel which i have claimed as my hobbyroom will be turned into a nursery after all
