  1. one thing you could consider is an over under swap im asuming right now the rear axle is mounted underneath the leafs right ? just bring it up and attach it to the top of the leafs make sure you install some good U clamps and you should be fine (not really an option if you are building a show truck but if it is a budget build...)
  2. does it come with pamela anderson ? or am i thinking of the wrong kind of plastic ?
  3. allong the same lines was my firs "dremel" my family had been with the same dentist for decades i was about 13 and he musta been in his 70s when he decided to retire he gave me his dental drill and some of the bits he used i used a 12 volt DC power converter to make it all run also great for scaring the ###### out fo sleeping sisters
  4. your not missing anything gov'ner i live out in mi and it is iether winter or road construction season between you and me, the passat (my 1:1) it the first car that actually survived a entire michigan winter i've had my 45 minute comute turn into a 4 hour adventure because of blizzards there is something about driving a car at 5 miles an hour during complete white out conditions while your ONLY way of aproximating your position is still on the highway is by keeping both pasengerside tires on the rumble strips that frankly, you can do without just fine
  5. i was just a wee boy when i was first introduced to WRC i was 17 years old and held a job at a place called "motoren revisie techniek" they were the main sponsors of a guy buy the name of rocco theunissen he won the dutch open in a group N impreza then he won the group A then he bought a corrolla WRC for the 99 season he took this car (build by future world in the UK) to become west european champion he also took two belgium division 1 titles before being diagnosed with meningites at any rate i met him a few times and got to see his cars on a regular bases i remember him telling me "brake with your left foot" he was a great guy
  6. [encite riot] cant go wrong with a mopar engine in there [/encite riot]
  7. wouldnt be the first time i heard of a car burning to the ground because a grease monkey forgot his oilrag somewhere under the hood
  8. i have a twin turbo inline 6 from a supra
  9. i would send it over but like i said, it was build as a birthday present so i gave it to my father in law yesterday he liked it very much and was telling every one how he is going to save this one and give it to his grandchild one day if he ever has one that likes cars enough to have these scale models. and then it slipped out of his hands and he dropped it so its right back on my bench again nothing too horrible, both front wish bones and wheels came off, one exhaust pipe, a side view mirror, the radiator hose and the rear license plate shouldnt be too bad to fix i think you made the right choice if i had more time i would have done the same nevertheless, thanks for the kind words guys
  10. hey guys, here is what i have been working on the last few days its a AMT/ERTL 1979 firebird trans am it was by far the worst kit i ever had the displeasure of building and i am still considering to throw it out at any rate, i bought this kit for my father in laws birthday because i think he like the screamin chicken decal on it got the kit of ebay where it was advertised as being a complete kit so when i got it was missing the decals and tail lights also, someone had glued the wheelspindles to the inner wheels (real PITA to fix that) on top of that the kit just does not go together well i must have cut of almost 1/2 an inch of the bottom of the dash to get the tub to fit hlafway decent there are massive gaps in between the inner and outer fenders and well, its just a lousy kit so here goes special thanks go out to bob bauman who supplied a set of tail lights couldnt have done it without them
  11. looks good. i always liked these kits but i could never get over the curbside issue just out of curiousity are the belgiums the original pilots or is there a personal afection there ?
  12. i got to work with a regular dremel today at my job and it made me realise how much i love mine the one we have at my job is a 110 volt model that you hold in your hand and the main thing i disliked about it (apart from the weight) was how hot it gets to the touch so in short i would really suggest the flexshaft model
  13. good idea i like it how the doors open on the lambo but just for your information if you go to the "on the workbench" section, there is a bar on the lower right corner it will give you certain options on what posts to show if you pick "topics i started" it will only show the topics (you guessed it) you started thats how i always used to find my build threads (now everytime i start a new build thread i put the link in my siggy)
  14. close to michigans salad bowl

  18. i play drums on my churches worship team and i am sleeping with the lead singer (dont worry, we've been married for over 5 years now)
  19. most likely , i know i got them in a trade together with some other stuff including a set of lambo wheels but im not sure who i traded them with the project has been on hold because i had to build the firebird, i should have that done this friday and then its back to our regular scheduled building i did manage to slap some putty on there and sand a line or two i also worked out a trade for the engine it will be a supercharged late model big block i havent decided on a scoop or not , i might just keep it low profile
  20. absolutely true i actually have die cast car wheels on my vicky check out the build thread to see how i attached them (the link is in my siggy) in my defense though, i aquired all the die cast wheels i have by trading other forums members
  21. take your time with this one i bought it for mt 11 year old nephew for Christmass last year and it just might be the most complex "basic builder" ever the front suspension in particular can be very tricky to get set up right just as a heads up
  22. i dont nkow if i would chage the stance on it steve, i think it looks pretty sweet where it is
  23. well, there are 3 main ways to obtain aftermarket rims the first on is the 3in1 kits there are several kits that come with optional aftermarket rims a great example is the revell 69 charger , it has 2 options of stock rims and a awesomeset of magstars (or something) the second way is my leasy favorite buy them there are several local hobby shops that will either carry them or special order them for you another great option is the old ebay there are plenty of good ebayers that will be able to hook you up and third (by far my favorite) is right here on our very own trade and wanted forum it works great you just post a want ad and let people know what you are offering up for trade its a win win situation (edit) here is one that would fit perfect here : http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21338
  24. thats what im waiting on there is a od pride on knowing you helped put one of these masterpeices together
