  1. thats a great model you build Jim, except..... wel.... i dont think i would have..... nope, cant do it, cant think of anything wrong with this build you took a run of the mill econobox and made it into a car....kudos
  2. you mean this picture ? you know, that chrome round airfilter (i think it came with the 69 charger hemi engine) fits pretty flush, but if it doesnt you should consider putting in aftermarket airfliters, the small triangular ones that came with the 71 pro street superbee for instance
  3. Jairus, that first paintscheme does sound nice...maybe there is one to be found on the evilbay for cheap ? either way, im looking forward to seeing how this turns out Brandon, its still your model, i just told you how i think it would best represent the hotwheels but unless you plan on mailing it to me onces its done its going on your shelf so build it like you deem best Jim, my boy has a 2009 or so custom 442 in a purle/green colour, but without the stripes, its a ncie little car i dont supose you have a strip version of the corvair you'd like to replicate do you (wink wink) Sean, thanks for the link
  4. hey allan, thats off to a good start, i love those no nonsence street brawler cars and any mopar muscle car looks good on steelies what im afraid wont look good is a 440 aircleaner on a 426 hemi engine if you want me to i can check my stash for a decal with the right call out (i know i dont have the right aircleaner but i might have the decal) also, im very impressed with the flocking, that is one thing i just can not get right no matter what i do
  5. one of my favorite builders here is crazyjim and this is his camaro he used fishing line for the fuel lines and i loves em
  6. actually guys, there is a much simpler way to go, you just open the section you want (under glass, workbench, you name it) and scroll all the way down there is a narrow bar that runs almost all the way (horizontally) across the screen, just about the scroll window for the section and the "start a new topic" line in the middle of the bar there is a button that says "click here to view filter options" click on that and then go to the first scroll bar...it has the following options topics:all topics:open topics:hot topics:polls topics:locked topics:moved topics:i started topics: i replied click on the "topics i started filter and then hit go to give you an idea, i did this with mine and this is the earliest post i found post from 8-12-08 only 4 days after i singed on here, probably my firs post here
  7. hey, welcome aboard, that a great looking pony you got there if i could ask, where did the rims come from ? i have a build coming up they would look perfect on
  8. yeah, i just noticed the chrome on mine (its green but the interior is the same) it would look best if you could allclad it but thats a lot to allclad and i dont even know if you have an airbrush if i were you i would make it a silver interio with aluminum, BMF and white accents (but all chrome would be the most accurate)
  9. hey thats cool Jairus, im also building a deora (though slightly altered) and also curbside i'll ad you to the list (on a side note, im almost certain i will be building a 67 GTX for this myself)
  10. just a heads up concerning the decals on that kit/car first of all, if you have the 09 hotwheel of this car the stripe is incorrect the actual car had the stripe run along the back panels, over the door and just hit the back end of the front fenders, then it would make a sharp 90 and run across the hood to return to the back end of the car on the other side the hotwheel car has a single stripe on each side the runs bumper to bumper and never crosses over the hood so that would be something to pay attention too a second point of attention is the black decal on the hood this decal surrounds the black hoodvent but the clear part (where the vent goes) is not cut out. in order to make this decal lay down nice you need to trim that center out so it falls around the vent and not over it (just like the real thing)
  11. thanks for all the interest guys im ready to start adding names to the list and putting in some extra info in the main post
  12. i got maybe 50 or so that are "technically" my sons one of my favorite ones is a 67 coronet with a nice paintscheme, dovetails and nice rims lets see if anyone else in interested
  13. FOUND HIM...hes behind the one with the bleu stripes
  14. hey guys and girl heres a thought i've had rolling in my head for a while...how bout a hotwheels build? the idea is simple enough, you go out and buy a hotwheels car, or pick one from your stash (no point denying it, i know we all have them) then you go out and buy a model kit from the same car in 1/24 or 1/25 and replicate the hotwheels here is what i like about the idea...every skill level is included in this, some hotwheels are are simple to replicate as getting the paint right while others use box wheels and are scratchbuild from there up the ground rules * the hotwheel car any hotwheels ERTL or any other brand 1/64 scale model car will due it can be a replica of a real car or one of thier one off designs (look at the image for a quick idea of whats all out there) the hotwheel car has to be in your possesion (so that you can see what your building and we can see the hotwheel and the finished model on display together) * the model car lets keep this build restricted to 1/24 and 1/25 scale, that should cover 90 % of our members so most everyone can join in the model car may be build any way you want as long as it looks like the hotwheel if there are details in the hotwheel we expect to see them in the model you build, a set of rims, a HEMI or a chrome steering wheel, if it in the hotwheel put it in the model if your hotwheel car does not have an opening hood you can build the model as a curbide but you are encouraged to ad detail as you feel the car demands (for instance, the 71 dodge charger has 440 calouts on the hood (which doesnt open) and so if you want to put a 440 in there that would be great (a hemi would be out of place though) so add detail as the hotwheels steers you * the build runtime for this build will be just over 4 months, starting today and ending on october 24th. any member who wants to enter can post here and i will ad their name to the list at the bottom of this post. lest keep this limited to new build so before you start your build post a picture of the hotwheels and the fresh kit you are using lets keep all progress in this thread so this thread stays alive and we dont flood the forum with double posts as soon as the first model is finished i will start a "under glass" post for all the finished models, proudly displayed next to thier smaller predecesor once your model is finished post it in that same under glass thread (for reasons mentioned before) and if you feel so inclined you are allowed to send the model to me (what a coincedende this CBP ends on my birthday) * the builders 1 Master Modeller : 1971 dodge charger 2 Jairus : 68 dodge deora redline 3 discospud : custom volkswagen beetle 4 diymirage : 67 plymouth GTX anyone interested ?
  15. it looks to me like you have what is called ghosting the styrene is molded under very high pressure when you remove the molded in gills you create an escape point for the presure stuck in the model once you apply the primer the chemical reaction will make the styrene somewhat liquid again and it will press out where you removed the gills so what you want to do is seal that area up one way to do (as mentioned before) is sprue melted in glue another way is to seal it with future or to put some superglue mixed with baking soda over it
  16. looks good to me
  17. well, so far the windex has severly brittled the glas it did cut through some of the paint/future, it is signifcantly smoother though slightly clouded i polished it with toothpaste but wasnt too confident in the structural integrity of the peice maybe ill polish it some more tomorrow
  18. that reminds me, i like where this build is going, the rims look good, and even though they arent spot on they look the part perfect
  19. i thought this was like finishing a model...we all talk about doing but we never actually do ill try the windex tonight (wont be able to take pictures since the wifey took her phone but ill keep you guys posted)
  20. you didnt buy it ? im shocked ! but then again, if you would have you'd be shocked it seems amonia is the awnser here, maybe i ought to burry it in the cats litterbox ?
  21. its a great dealership, i dumped gallons on end of used motor oil there and they never minded one bit...even let me toss the empty containers into their dumpster if only he had a mopar contract a few more to ad to my list a hudson hornet with starting issues a ford fairlane a 67 coronet i think one was a willies hotrod and a few of those hideous donks that arent worth mentioning and if i ever get into office i WILL put a law into effect that turns that kinda autocide into a 12 point violation
  22. thanks Joe my main shopping places are the local hobby lobby (make sure to check for coupons) and a place called riders, a 40 minute drive from my house thats where i get almost everything i buy kits online (ebay mainly) but all the other stuff i get at those locals so im not sure on the online aspect of it
