that is a Dual Over Head Cam 426 hemi only two of them were ever build it was dodge's response to fords 427 cammer engine when nascar outlawed the ford cammer engine the dodge hemi once again reigned supreme and the DOHC hemi project was aborted it is now clear where at least one of those two DOHC hemis went.....under the table to chevys racing department (on a side note, this engine can be found in the AMT 71 pro street superbee kit) and yes, great job on weathering it

AMT '71 Plymouth Duster - Tor Red - Vinyl Top
diymirage replied to Drake69's topic in WIP: Model Cars
looks good but if i could make a suggestion...i would remove the little strip of BMF behind the doors where the vinyl meets the metal and put down a little strip od halfround styrene and then put the BMF over that i think it would look more reaslistic that way and about cutting out the "tail light decals" i build a 74 charger that has the flat black hood insert and a black decal surrounding it you would think they cut out the section for the black insert (about a square inch) but no good thing there are nice people on this forum who supplied me with an extra decal sheet -
i noticed the front end looked a bit high but i kinda liked it made it look like it was coming of the line the lowered front end makes a better static model though

since you mentioned it, this is a great way to attach those hard to line up parts like exhaust pipes to headers for instance or mirrors

that my dear sir, is the correct awnser though walonia isnt all bad iehter my wife took french in high school and wanted me to take her to paris so she could practice her french so i warned her about the ill mannered nature of the french and how paris has the odour of a open sewer but she still wanted to go needless to say that after that trip walonia became her destination of choice to practice her french i still prefer vlaanderen though -
thats a great looking car and the paint looks very good my only concern would be if someone forked out that kinda money for paint wouldnt it be on some keystones or cragars ? (or the story could be the paint ate the budget so magnum 500s it is)

as usual i like the 5 spokes better as a wheel...not as a whole though, it seems to clash styles with the grilles you made im no fan of the 347 spoked rims (just guessing, i didnt count them) but i think in this case they fit better with the overal look of the car though they would look even better if they were 1-2 scale inches larger i was gonna ask, where did you get the mesh for the grille from? im gathering parts to replicate a car i used to own fresh out of college and that mesh would be perfect

Alclad over plasti-kote
diymirage replied to trey allen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
here is that exhaust i mentioned -
got some work done on the monaco the exhaust is made out of 1/8th tubing, sprue and aluminum tube for the resonators it was then painted with painters touch gloss black and then with allclad chrome i drilled little holes where it mates to the turbos and put little metal wires in there to hold them in place i did the same to a few spots on the chassis to ensure it doesnt sag and sits right
-
the other day i painted an exhaust with alclad it was made up from parts of all sprue, some 1/8th styrene tube and some aluminum tube for resonators i wetsanded the whole thing and didnt bother putting a primer down , just went straight over it with the painters touch gloss black i think it was my best alclad so far

not sure what DPI means but i set my printer for picture quality and high gloss photo paper hope that helps
-
for downsizing i prefer to use microsoft excell if you paste an image in there you can hit "format" and in the upper right corner there will be 2 boxes, one for width one for height this will give you the exact dimensions of the decal once printer

Dodge Ram Van Parts Van
diymirage replied to stewart's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
looks good i like the detailing on all the parts my only complaint (and i say this on here a lot) is that your tires are directional and the one on the driverside rear is backwards great undercar detail though -

hi Wolvy welkom to the forum it is best to remove paint (and chrome if your working with plated parts) so that the paint will have something to stick to i always use the side of the knife with very little presure, it makes it a lot more controllable an alternative might be to use a Q-tip dipped in thinner or rubbing alcohol to remove the paint from the parts you want to glue or, of your working with smaller parts or parts that need to be the same colour anyway, just glue it first and then paint it
