The Cars of Rock 'n' Roll and Country Music
diymirage replied to CorvairJim's topic in Community Builds
not a bad idea, the old set-up looked like you might be smuggling something underneath that bed there -
judging by the black smudges on it it might have been a tight fit but it seems to me that as long as it is taped down properly and there is no slack in the clotch it works fine (not that i wasnt skeptic myself at first)

i used to live in a city called Volkel, right outside of an combine Dutch/US airforce base every year they would have an open house during which time the local F-16 squadrons would show off thier skills and they would be practicing weeks in advance i remember one time sitting on the deck enjoying a nice quiet afternoon when all of a sudden this F-16 swoops down and pulls up over the house like he was inspecting the chimney -
hey Brandon, i like using mircosoft excel once i find the sign i like i open up an excell book and hit "insert picture" then i go to format and hit resize, it will tell you exactly how big the final product will be (its helped me so much with printing decals, no more guessing and running 17 testprints to get one right)

it seems like the base coat was not compatible with the clear coat or it was not 100% cured yet (kinda like the base coat shrunk a bit and thats what caused the clear coat to crack) i'd say give it a week to properly cureand then try to wetsand the clear coat off hopefully the base coat is salvagable

hey guys as some of you know i am very slowly building "rusty" the charger dayclona from Joe Dirt it seems the origenal car doesnt have a backseat and so i started thinking, i dont want to go through the trouble of cutting out the back seat and scratchbuilding the paneling that goes underneath i guess i could have used the revell 69 charger tub but its to late for that so i though, what would Joe do? well, here is what i came up with i first found a picture of a lynynrd skynyrd flag and cropped it to about the size i needed i then ran a test print (in draft) to make sure i liked the size and i knew where on the paper it would go once i was pleased with the way it looked i cut up an old rag and taped it over the image on the paper (with plenty of room to spare) i ran the whole thing through the printer again, only this time on high quality all thats left now is trim and put in in the back of Joes dayclona havent gotten to that part yet but here is a mock up of the flag in the backseat of Rosco's monaco

i think i read about this study it was conducted by Dr. I.P. Freely right ? -
gotta love those partsbox builds ive had the idea of making a civic into something cool by dropping in a hemi and dong the billboards and what not tokyo drift is one of the fast and furriest movies in which the main kid moves to japan and learns to drift the first time he tries he totally destroys the car so they toss in into the trash long story short, towards the end of the movie he needs to race and he has a rolling chassis mustang but no mill so they fish the import (is it an import if your in japan?) out of the dumpster and transplant the hamster into the mustang if im not mistaking revell even made a kit of that car complete with donklike wheels and the import engine

hard to believe those are all rattle can jobs i like most of em though

diymirage replied to mopar01lee's topic in WIP: Model Cars
but then what would you use for episode two ? -
i dont know Jim im usually a big fan of you work and i love mopars but somehow this one seems sub-par please dont take it the wrong way but i think ive seen you build better models then this one ive thought about it a while and this is what i think kinda breaks it for me, with the plastic looking shifter tunnel (would look great in one of them newfangled imports like a XB or so) and the red radiator shroud and rear axle it looks toyish to me you know what i mean? on the plus side, this is the second best engine ive seen from you (i really liked the sidedrafted chevy) and the detail on it looks great the paint is also very nice, and...the tires are on there properly

(just to get some model pics on this page) here is a charger i build for the death race build off a while ago i called it "project haz-mat" story has it this car was found under a tarp in a barn somewhere in georgia back then it was a faded orange with a rebel flag on it and turbine mags (none of which were true) -
well, got a little work done today basically finished up the chassis and put some wires on the engine finished up the rear end (just need to do some more work on the wheel wells to allow the wheels to turn) and also made the mounting points (read "drilled two holes") for the front wheels looks like this is where she will sit

nah...im clean other than traffic violation and one count of asaulting an offficer i've been a good boy (actually a funny story behind that asault charge) one thing that really kept me in check was growing up near an airforce base did you know MPs have jurisdiction to enforce civil law in a certain radius from where they are stationed? i got pulled over for speeding by an MP once and he scared the snot out of me i saw the lights flash in my rear view so i pulled over watched him get out of the car, reach in and grab his M16 slinging that over his shoulder he started over to me, i didnt know what to think
