  1. Very sexy. Bodywork like that just begs for a paintjod to accentuate its' angular form. Something dark and sinister (Blood Red Pearl, Anthracite/Black Pearl) with the wheel faces done up in Slate Gray sounds nice. Awesome Monza.
  2. Looks similar to the one I have going, only I turbo'd/intercooled/fuel injected the S20 it came with.
  3. A lot of the recently re-issued AMT kits have extra parts (1962 Buick comes to mind, horrible kit but has extra parts), and the 56 Ford Pick-up (blue truck on the box top). As mentioned, the Revell Tuner series Hondas and Acuras along with their Subaru WRX STi, some of the newer Revell 'special edition' kits, and if you are into that sort of thing the AMT Double Dragster re-issue. Also, don't be afraid to part out some Die-Casts as some have really cool stuff in them.
  4. As far as I am concerned, the IMEX 1/12 scale kits are some of the better Harley kits out there. Compared to Revells attempts with their 'Choppers' line (which seem bigger than 1/12th when set next to the IMEX kits), the IMEXs are much closer to looking like real Harleys. With that said; the only two engines you have in the IMEX line are the cone-Shovel and the EVO........and the EVO engine is very inaccurate (as it uses the Shovel Tappet blocks, pushrod tubes, jugs, cylinder heads with 'add-on' squared-off rocker covers/upper fins, and intake/exhaust ports/oil pump. Also, the Trans used is the Ratchet-top which was not used but for 3-4 years. However, the trans can be converted with some work.
  5. Hey Revell; time to revive these with some Pan, Knuck, or Shovel power, kick pedal, and the option to build it with a straight frame instead of a dropped frame. Add in a nice Springer, Denver Girder, or even an XA springer and I'd buy quite a few.
  6. Now THIS is what Revell SHOULD have given us instead of the weaksauce cheeze-choppers they did! Very nice job on this; looks similar to a friends Panhead (and my Pan is slightly wilder). I have a bunch of the Imex Harleys, and even though they both are supposedly 1/12th, the Revell bikes are considerably larger.
  7. For what you want this to be, use the first set (torques), as they lay the rockers versus stilting it like the second set does. Considering that Revell just re-issued this kit at the beginning of this month, I might have to pick one of these up myself.
  8. To the point of the original posters thoughts; I would suggest some of the Revell Honda/Acura 'Tuner' kits as they do offer quite a few build variations right from the box. Also, by mixing the 5 Honda/Acura tuner kits up, you open a lot more possibilities for these kits. Same goes for that lines Subaru WRX STi kit. The supplied kit wheel choices would open up your stash of wheels nicely. Also, as shown above, some of the re-issued AMT/SMP kits from the 60s have some cool extra parts that could be used to complete various different styles of build. The AMT kit of the Ford (56 I believe) that was re-issued in the late 80s-early 90s (Blue truck on box cover) has a lot of different parts in the kit. I agree with some here, buy kits that offer some extras and just start building up your spares box. Next thing you know, you will be able to build some really different looking variations from any kit.
  9. You mean like the wing we see in the first pic? I don't have any, but MAN do I hope someone does. This is just turning out awesome.......I love the look, feel, and vibe this Monza is giving off.
  10. I remember seeing some print ads using that car.........until the FOX version came along. I also remember the McLaren M81s/Enduro as well.
  11. As Mr Show has a 1987 Thunderbird TurboCoupe build going, and I am terrible about finishing anything, I am a bit reluctant to put this up. Tim Boyd took a shot of this at the Toledo NNL as well, and I have many scratchbuilt parts that did not make it to this particular photoshoot. This is my take on the 1987 Thunderbird TurboCoupe, as I would build one in 1:1. First, the front fenders ahead of the wheel openings scaled out to be roughly 3" too long. I took .100" out of their length, along with out of the hood. Now I have to pie-cut the fenders above the crease line to bring the taper back into line with the nose. The rear bumper is 2" too long, so .080" was taken out of it and it recontoured as well. The front wheels are custom-turned 21" units and the rears are 23" Pegasus Hobbies sleeves with highly modified 1/32nd scale die-cast wheel centers. The engine front cover is not being used, so I fabricated the lower front cover/pan rail for this, and am building the Volvo B234F DOHC head conversion for this engine (I have the real thing going on right now with my 1984 Mustang GT Turbo). Turbo will be a modified Shucky casting, sitting on a solder tube header. Anyway, sneek peak time............................................................ , , , , , , The Volvo head is a 3 piece unit in real life; a lower portion that contains the intake/exhaust ports and all valves/springs, an upper section which contains the cams and all oiling provisions, and the valve cover which also acts to help with the cams/distributor drive arrangement. All I have started right now is the lower head and the Esslinger Ford 2.3 adjustable cam gears. More to come this weekend as pictures are taken.
  12. , Got the wheel sleeves polished and the centers painted/glued into the sleeves. , , Got the body in Dark Cherry Metallic Laquer from the Testors Model Master line. These pics were taken before the White Lightning (also a Testors Laquer) was laid into the hood depression and the Tamiya TS-13 was applied and buffed out. Interior is halfway done.........this won't be ready for December 5th, but it is getting closer to being finished.
  13. This should give you an idea of what the 'Beemer' wheel from Pegasus would look like with a sleeve (this is a Pegasus 23" sleeve, but since these wheels are 19" they could be machined, quite a bit I will add, to fit into a 19" Pegasus sleeve so that they would have a lip).
  14. I discussed the 85-86 LX/GT with Ed; unfortunately we will not see one any time soon (if ever). Reason being is the side trim. Changing the side trim to 1985-86 style would kill it for possible backdate/update (as 85-86 was unique to those years and trim levels respectively).
  15. Brian, These were some of the FIRST things to be brought up in conversation with Ed, as I am what you would call a FOX chassis aficianado. I have a very soft spot in my heart (and 4 current 1:1 FOX Mustangs to prove it) for the FOX chassis, and believe it or not Ed currently owns a 1985 Mustang GT 5spd convertible....so he is aware of all the other kits shortcomings. We have had considerable discussions about the LX/5.0 Coupe, and it will wear 16" Ponies in its stock configuration (as they are shooting for 1991-93 target year group). This will be an all-new tool, with nothing from the old FOX kits used, in 1/25th scale. I cannot speculate as to when it will be released or take any knowledge to press as to how accurate it will be, but the engine/side moldings/headrests/engine bay/8.8" rear detail angles have been considered and discussed. I haven't heard back yet from ED or Mike Bell (Dayton Performance) as to how the meeting went/if it has went yet, so I can't elaborate as to what info they were able to get. I will keep you all posted as things develop and if I am kept in the loop. No one wants this to come to fruition more than I (well, maybe one or two more people, but you will be VERY hard pressed to find them).
  16. I am thankful for my families health (even though they and I are seperated by 1000 miles). I am thankful to have my brothers and sisters in arms serving to keep our lives protected. I am thankful for small things like eyes to see sunsets, lungs to draw a fresh breath, and my own general health. I am thankful that there are others who listen and understand; and I am most thankful that there is someone looking down on me and keeping me in HIS thoughts.
  17. Junior, I find these HO Scale builds cool and a 'blast from my past', as I used to detail both HO and N scale vehicles and buildings. I used to take the horrid N Scale Bachmann Super Bees/RoadRunners and cut the hoods open, make the chassis, detail paint them, and convert/scratchbuild Hemis and 440s for them. I did the same for a lot of the HO scale autos. Perhaps when I get the space again, I will dig out my HO stuff and get back at it. Thanks for the memories, and you are doing a killer job with these tiny motorcars!
  18. Considering that Mr. Ed Sexton and I had about a 45 minute discussion on this subject at the Toledo NNL (with him stating that his developement crew was already in the planning stages), coupled with the facts that I have about 15 Emails from him and as many to him discussing engine/chassis/wheels-tires configuration for the drag version of this 2n1 and the fact that I have hooked his team up with a local Mustang racing shop for in-car/out-of-car/various combinations photos and measurements..............I would say my little 'birdie' is fairly well informed. No release date as of yet, but when I talked to Ed about a month ago (when I got he and the Mustang shop in touch with one another) his words were "We are ready to go forward right now if the proper 1:1 car can be found." So, take that as you will.
  19. Well, to be honest, most people who look at this model won't notice nor know what I have done to it.........even though I am duplicating the Volvo DOHC swap that I have done to my 1:1 1984 Mustang GT Turbo in scale. Somehow, I think I am putting a little too much worry into the lower timing/water pump area when (if anybody does notice) the head will be the 'Holy S---!' factor to the engine bay. Not to mention the stainless header and forward-mounted turbo (think GT76 or Holset HX60 sized), the external wastegate and the ITB set-up. The thing for me is, I can walk out into my garage and see this stuff. I keep forgetting that most won't know the difference nor see it at 1/24th of its' original size.
  20. As I said before Mike, you let me know when and Paypal will fill your coffers with my cash for apropriate amounts of copies.
  21. As of right now...........Reliable Resins in 1/24th. However, I would wait. A little birdie has told me that Revell is working on a 1/25th all-new-tool 2n1 1990-93 Coupe.
  22. That has to be the most terminally cool Monzas in scale OR real! It is looking awesome and has given me some ideas for my Mclaren M81/Enduro Mustang kit.
  23. If that Pace Car Mustang is still there, YANK THE NOSE! Those lowers bring GOOD money in good shape, the hood scoop as it is one-year-only-one-model-only, and you may get lucky (as it is a turbo4) and it will have aluminum bumpers under the skins (those go for $200.00 a piece to the right buyer. Also, the inner door panels are plastic and are 1979-only pieces.
  24. Thanks Chris...I was under the impression that the 400 was debuted in 1971.
  25. I have a spare set of A-arms if you need them. I am doing one of these 'Birds up Pro-Touring style right now and made my own tubular A-arms. If you want them, shoot me a PM with your adress and I will get them moving your way. For what my opinion's worth; the 5spoke wheel you have pictured (in the upper right corner) would go well with the Semi-Custom look you have going (just trim that god-aweful 'fit ring' and put some nicer lower profile rubber on them.
