The weathering looks good and the style really does well for this particular era of truck. I like it. Are you going to add oil stains, shop rags, jumper cables, misc junk to the bed as well?

We may have disagreements here and sometimes just some all-out WTF mid-afternoon soap-opera dramafests, but we are here for the models and helping one another out. We're like the worlds largest model car club (with other modeling areas thrown in for good measure). I too learn a lot; glad that we were able to help out (and continue to help) and that you were able to positively contribute. Sharing what you have learned is one of the best things about the hobby.

Well guys, I just added about 15 more kits to this today.....got them at the IPMS Dayton (Urbana) show. Mostly 80s Funny cars/90s rails, but I got some more supplies and a 1930 Packard for the girlfriend. I will add the pic below............. Jim; don't rule that out. I am waiting to see how things go for the 'New Year'. If it is the same monkey-poo as this year, I will SERIOUSLY look for a job back in Orlando area! Nova-SS; I will build some, but most of the above kits will go up for trade/sale sometime in the near future as I need to condense my efforts (all the Fox Ford stuff stays). Plans are to build the Imex Harleys (most of them are already started). And juggs, if you pay postage to Ireland and have a pint waiting.....figure an extra 180lbs of shipped weight! Have a spatula handy to peel me up off the floor, as I will NOT stop at one pint (I will also forewarn you that a Bushmills litre will also die in the process)!

This doesn't count my aircraft, aircraft carriers, or misc projects with no home either. My major stash (14 paper towel boxes full) sits at mom and dads in Florida.

part 4............. , , , , I see the pic of my Dodge B-Bodies did not load to photobucket; I'll have to go correct that. Got it.................... The 1968 Roadrunner box (orange car) also has a 68 GTX and a 69 GTX body fit into it. Thanks for looking, and I will see about getting the Dodge B-Body pic to load up.

Custom Dakota
whale392 replied to stewart's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Those are NICE Mark! What did you use for rolling stock? I drive a 1997 Dakota Sport V8 daily, and have one of these kits in my stash for a later build. I might need to get a few more. -
Well, I am also midway through a conversion, or a 'what if' if you will. I have two SD-9s from Life-Likes Proto-Power line, and two of their GP30s. I am keeping one SD-9 stock, while the other is donating its Chassis/running gear/various components to a 'Conversion'. I am splicing the 2 GP30 PhaseI shells together, along with the various components/chassis of the sacrificed SD-9 to create a "What if' SD30 (not what they did, but what I think they could have done). That way, I have the correct early EMD running gear along with the over-cab Dynamic brake blister that makes the GP30 so identifiable in an SD format.

Stretched frame Tractors
whale392 replied to Sergey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Dennis, who does your dad haul for (under contract as an owner/operator I am sure)? Reason I ask is we ship our aircraft engines with 'Southern Pride' and I know their rigs are set up for hauling jet engines (Air Ride equipped drop or double-drop deck trailers, tarping, extra timbers..........) and most of their rigs run a 120"+ sleeper. -
Wow, overhead camming a PanHead and straight-legging a springer.........cool!

62 Buick Electra 225 for the BCAS 'same kit' build.
whale392 replied to whale392's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Sadly, there likely will not be any more updates to this build, as it died a rough death last night. All bodywork was done and smoothed; all I had to do was rescribe the lines for the chrome around the front and rear windshields. I had fixed the way-miscast front fender-to-cowl lines, fixed the front lower corners of the windshield, got the roof looking 'right'...............and as I was finishing the scribing on the rear glass chrome surround.....I removed my tape guide and as I did the drivers C-pillar came out with the tape. After messing with this body since July to get it all to flow right, my temper took hold before reason did. Anger (and my right hand) turned the body into a 7 piece unit. Round2; before you decide to dust off some more old molds and start shooting plastic through them, do us the modelers a favor. CLEAN UP AND TEST THE DARN THINGS! This thing was so far miscast that Hellen Keller wouldn't even have let it out of the factory if she were the Q.A auditor! I cannot completely blame R2, as I was the one who changed roofs, but having to do excessive clean-up/fixing of the rest of the kit coupled with the roof failures did this and my temper in. I do have a second body (still stock). I am contemplating another go at it. I will see when I calm down. -
She does OK Brian. Haven't ran her since I moved to Ohio though (she is still in Florida). I do have an Athearn SD40-2 that I have canned and added a lot of weight to (and a LOT of aftermarket detailing to) that I pull with at the moment. She was a CSX unit, but I have added the SD50/60 series blower duct, the GP50/60 series Dynamic brake blister (2 GP units cut and spliced to form the SD40s proper lengthed housing)..............all sorts of mods. She pulls 110 NMRA wieghted 60' boxes.

new kit just got today!
whale392 replied to Poncho-Power's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have that kit (almost finished too). Great kit and was/is fun for me to build. -
I remember watching these cars in the 80s-90s and destroying my fair share of these kits. Your build is making me want to hunt down a few of these kits and attemptII (this time without destroying them) some 80s Funnies (actually, I still have the Force Olds in the box........hmmmmm). Looking very nice, and thanks for the memories. I will keep an eye on this build.

Ramchargers AA/Fuel Front Engine Dragster
whale392 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Niko, I can tell you now that painting the frame before you glued it together/test fit was a BAD idea. Every kit I have had of this (and the Hippie Hemi, which shares the chassis) has been severely warped. To cure that, I glued the frame halves together, zip-tied them to a section of 2x4 wood, soaked it in hot water, then quickly dropped it into ice water to shock set the chassis straight. Also, the roll cage bars are cast offset, so they are no wheres near round and their mounting tabs will be a VERY finicky fit to the main chassis. -
Some really Sweet turbos from Shucky
whale392 replied to envious8420's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I will say this: No matter the prototype, I will definately look into these. I just got some of Mikes turbos, and knowing the centrifugals will be just as nice has me saving up to order a few of them!
