  1. Michelle, the Testors looks OK over White, but it will show its Blue hued tendancies. I shot some over a car body I had shot in Model Master German Silver Metallic followed by a layer or two of their Transparent Black Window Tint. Laying the Testors Pearl Clear over that gave it a very beautiful Blue/green Pearl tint/flip. The Silver/transparent black base really brought the Clear Pearl to life. Also, I shot it over a Honda Turquoise/Green color and it shimmered with more silver/green than normal.
  2. I can't really do a step-by-step-do-this sort of thing, but having shot Tamiya Pearl White from the can I can tell you it is VERY transparent. It will be darker if you shoot it over a Gray primer than it will if you shoot it over a Silver or White undercoat. Gold will give it a slight Amber tint, and heaven help you should you shoot it over ANY shade of Red.
  3. Loks like a good kit, and a clean build!
  4. I am wanting to thin down my collection. Next time I am in Florida I will be sorting out the 'keep' from the 'wont keep' kits and getting rid of a LOT of plastic........some going back into the early 60s.
  5. I save all of my boxes.............................. ....................................................because the models are still waiting to be built up inside! I have almost 1100 kits now, and two finished models.
  6. Any of the FOX Mustang/Capri/T-Bird kits........or any that I actually finish (which is a grand total of 0 right now!).
  7. My co-workers are all demented in one way or another. We have a VERY diverse listening pool when the Chiefs aren't harassing us Indians!
  8. Looking very nice! Of all the Chargers, 1968 is my favorite year. I don't know why it is (my guess is that niether Tamiya nor Model Master makes it...even though Model Master Laquer line has it) that everyone says an exact color for these engines doesn't exist. YES IT DOES!! Go down to your local Chrysler dealership, open the door to parts, step to the counter, and ask for a can of 'Street Hemi Orange' paint. It is the exact formula used on these engines and is meant for those restoring/sprucing up under the hood. They will even be glad to sell you the Turquoise color for non-HiPo big blocks if you ask them. Building a Race Hemi....they have that color too.
  9. 420ozbottlesofCokeand2cupsofcoffeewilldothesamething!
  10. PM me, or visit my photobucket account. (whale392 is my photobucket account name as well) I have pics of a friends unrestored 1980 Turbo Cobra there (the yellow car).
  11. So, besides this super-saian top-dog wonder foam, any other tips for making fender flares?
  12. I don't even know where to begin on that twin turbo set up (the model looks good so far though). Worst of all worlds is the best way to describe it. You draw air in through the turbos, heat it, completely leave out the cooling afterwords, and then shove it UNDER your fuel/3rd air delivery system (which works on VACUUM, not PRESSURE). Better idea (if it isn't to be intercooled) is to run a pressure box around or pressure bonnet on top of the carb, creating a blow-through system. As it is, it can't even be an effective draw-through set up (if draw-through was ever a good idea anyway). As I said, the model is looking good; it is not your fault the real system is so poorly engineered.
  13. Not quite work friendly listening, but you can toss Mojo Nixon into this mess. Rockabillies perverted side shines in his music!
  14. Yes I did Matt, and was going to ask where you got the wheels from? Are they from the Lindberg LRW kit or one of its' variants? I am thinking that the ones from the latest reissue of the Ford 64 Fairlane500 (T-Bolt) kit might work as well; they have smaller notches in the wheel face. I don't have reference handy, but I will get back to you if I find something better suited for the fronts. Until then, carry on as they look good and I won't tell anyone if you don't!
  15. Looking good Matt. Might I make a suggestion (this is the realist in me coming out)? Paint the dust caps a steel and drybrush a little rust onto them for a realistic finish. Also, same for the lug nuts on the front wheels. Rear wheels have the axle end detail engraved in them? Add a wash of steel/rust to that area as well.......they always rusted on the real cars (I actually painted my axle ends on my 65, and cleared my dustcaps to help keep this from happening. Then I went with some aftermarket wheels and hid the ugly rust anyway!).
  16. Sorry about that Mick......I just had to get that out of my head. The song is infectious and contagious. Hope you weren't up too late, or if you were, it was worth it to you! Drew; there used to be a 'Brain in a Box' CD collection as well, featured some surf guitar, rockabilly, Cash and Waylon, some really good stuff. It too sadly is now out of print.
  17. As a matter of fact, yes I had thought about it (VERY STRONGLY). I will have to order up some.
  18. 'True Blood' or 'pure of blood'. Would this give new meaning to 'Murdering' a car out?!
  19. That right there Mike is certainly a 'class' band. I was at a 'Flogging Molly' concert and spilt my Guinness on a lady ahead of us. As I went to apologize, she said "Don't bother lad, 'Tis considered a right Christening." followed shortly by "Would you like to meet the band?". meet the band......heck yeah! I spilt beer on the singers mom and got to meet them after the show. AWESOME! I love Flogging Mollys sound as well, but for some reason Psychobilly eerily haunts me.
  20. I was going to suggest the very same thing. Either that or the 67 Dodges/Plymouths by Revell. Talk about a drop-in engine. Is there any reason you are looking to go resin? Detail? Hate to say it, but even the Ross Gibson engine would be hard-pressed to outshine the Revell units with some nice carbs up top.
  21. Possibly Harry, but you must admit Brian Setzer went on to have a good career on his own with a very similar tone of music. Now take Stray Cats and blend them with Danzig..........you have the Koffin Kats.
  22. Sorry about that Matt, my 1991GT Mustang build is taking up some time, along with the 62 Buick for the model club. The reason I asked about the wheel/tire diameter is that the specialized haulers who deliver/pick up our jet engines run 48' dropdecks with 9' spreads and their trailer wheels are smaller in diameter than the tractor wheels/tires combo. Just wondering, as I would like to do a 'jet limo' one of these days. I promise that once the CBP projects are done, I will finish the W900A!
  23. Those are some deep Minilites to pull a stretch on the sidewall like that!
  24. OK, I usually don't go for things like this (there was a thread a while back on music you model to), but I really have to comment on a style of music. Anybody remember the 'Stray Cats' Rockabilly band from the 80s and how they had nice cruisers/hot rods (and even sang about them)? well, the music Genre called 'Psychobilly' has a killer band.....Koffin Kats. If their song 'Small-Block and Flathead' doesn't get you thinking about chops, rats, bobbers, and doing extremely crazy stuff with old metal, you are probably dead. HOLY CRAAAAA....(yeah you know the word) these guys ROCK! Sorry, few things really inspire me, but I listened to this song over and over and my mind just flew through all sorts of rat/bomber/bobber build ideas! Just had to get that off my chest and out of my head. But for those who like Rockabilly/Psychobilly; you REALLY need to check them out.
  25. Looking good Mike, even for its' ugly stage!
