  1. I am currently building the AMT 62 Buick, and I cut the front/rear wheelhouses out and redid them in .010" sheet styrene to get the look/drop I was after. If you strip the paint and use a Coke (substitute your favorite carbonated beverage for it) can, you could have some very nice polished aluminum tubs/underhood fenderwell detail as a bonus!
  2. Welcome home Marine! Charger is looking good.
  3. Brian, that's an old Flatside Shovel engine you got there (1966-69)! Are you planning a hardtail chop for it or keep it as an Electra-Glide? As for real project bikes, I have my 1956 Harley FL and a 1971 Suzuki T500R. Nevermind the chop question, I just re-read your initial post. If you want some detail ideas for this, let me know. I will try to help as best as I can.
  4. At least you're making some headway on your builds Dan; my Mustang project has stalled and I haven't touched the club Buick due to just not having the time I want/need. Yes, I could be building instead of typing, but I come here to relax between work and life!
  5. Hood looks good with the body lines the car has. However, the front tire/wheel combo almost looks too large for the wheelwell, unless you have plans to set the car down a little further over them (doesn't look like there is room by the pics). Pearl White or Pearl Frosted Silver with those wheels would look very classic yet modern all in one.
  6. You bringing these to next months meeting Dan? I can't promise I'll be there, but if I am I want to see them in the light.
  7. Glad to help Dan. God knows I can never finish one of my own, but I do have an eye for different textures and building techniques on others work!
  8. A BIG CHIEF engine stuffed in there, big inch Fiske wheels and fat rubber, a jungle-gym for a roll cage, and you would have yourself a modern 'vintage' T/A racer there. Or a sweet base for a real Pro-Tourer.
  9. Very much like ROUGH 'Glass! Now I didn't see this one at the meeting.
  10. Sounds like a winning plan to me. I thought it was darker; you had a mist coat on it (chase coat for sanding)? Hirohita Merc..........I remember reading about the restoration of the car if my memory serves me correct.
  11. Looking like it could have been an original 'Batmobile' Dan! Did you have this at the last meeting? If you did, I must have been busy with Mike and Ron and missed this. Looking good........color picked yet?
  12. I second that thought Matt! I also wish they would do a 1966 variant (with correct interiors and chrome trim/head/taillights of their 1967 Dodge/Plymouth offerings.
  13. Nice Bearded Dragon. He about 6-7 months old?
  14. I think I saw the 1:1 today heading into Kentucky on I-275 West at the Ohio/Indiana/Kentucky border loop.
  15. Hack the roof off, lose the hood scoop, slather it in glossy Black goodness, and slap a 427 SOHC into it and you have a car that came to one of our cruises. I don't know just how big the '427' was under those heads, but it had sewer pipes for headers and led to drainage culverts for exhaust. You could feel his exhaust note before you could hear it. That car made me all tingly in my manspots!
  16. Nice down and dirty quick turbo tutorial there Jimmy. Thanks for sharing that (I will have to keep that in mind when I go to do the turbo for the SVO I have waiting in the wings.
  17. ^^^beat me to it.
  18. Looking good Matt. If you are unhappy with the first 3 tries at the interior skeleton, I won't be if you send them to me! any idea on a paint scheme yet, or have I just missed it (sucks when all I do is look at the pretty pictures!)?
  19. I saw your post on this in the 'on the workbench' section and being the pic was so small I couldn't see the scale. As I now know it is 1/12th scale, I have to say you are almost on your own with these kits. You will have to either scratch, kit-modify, kitbash, or steal parts from other kits to get custom stuff for these bikes. I have 20 of the various IMEX 1/12th Harleys, and have had to make most of my own custom parts for them. Also a note worth mentioning here, the Revell 1/12th Harleys are bigger than the IMEX 1/12th pieces. Who is correct I do not know, but the size difference is VERY noticable.
  20. Well, never one to leave well enough alone, I broke her tonight trying to correct a little 'flaw' in my plan (why I wanted the Bubbletop roof to begin with). When I looked at the car from the rear, the back window upper arch just looked HUGE and out of place. So what do I decide? Well, I am going to slightly pie-cut the roof sheetmetal to bring the upper window frame down and more squared-off with the roofline. Yeah, great idea except the C-Pillars were too weak (well, drivers side was anyway) to take me hacking on the roof. SNAP!.....drivers C-Pillar lets go at the body line. A few choice words later, I glue it back together and add some plastic bracing inside to hold it all together. Finished sectioning the roof and got it pushed down in/glued. Waiting for the glue to fully dry so that I can get the Evercoat on the roof and smooth all of this mess out. So much for a positive update huh?! I will be hacking the roof (or at least supervising her while she does it) on the girlfriends build for the same purpose this weekend. Maybe I'll have the filler all done and the body in primer by Sunday. I have stopped with the LS2 coils, as you won't see them once the engine shield is in place. Now, once this Buick is done, I have something 'Special' planned to go with it.
  21. I can have many running at one time, but it seems none ever get finished this way!
  22. Too bad most of that character will be hidden by an engine cover (which I am still working on the design of).
  23. Very nice 'skeleton' you have built for this!
  24. Cool Eric; I know how it is. I have the 83 vert and the 91GT for this, the Hachi and the Hako for the JDM CBP, and the 62 Buick for the BSAC..........all going at the same time. Progress is slow, but it is there.
  25. 1981 or 1982 (I was 6 or 7 anyway), I got curious and dug into the boxes in the basement. Dads old models were in one of the boxes. I was overwhelmed and just HAD to try to be like my dad (seeing his semi trucks/trailers on display in the sunk/mirrored bookcase in the living room), so I tried to start building one. Yeah, I murdered a perfectly good AMT/SMP Trophy kit 1962 Chrysler Imperial Convertible. And to this day I have an almost perfect record of not finishing one!!
