chrysler "cross ram?"
whale392 replied to randx0's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Also, 1958 only, you could get 2 4bbls atop the Mopar 350 (yes, Mopars first 'B' engine was a 350cid...next year it went out to 361 cubes). -
I'm really liking this build.......that steering wheel ALMOST looks like an earlier EMPI unit, and the skull is an awesome touch. Paint is killer and the wheel/tire combo looks great with the rest of the car. Look forward to the 'Under Glass' show-off of this one!

Personal opinion alert!!........the portal window idea clashes heavily with the teardrop hood scoop idea you have. The two styles of customizing, while cool in their own way, are not playing well together on this build. With that being said, I doo look forward to seeing more of this build.

chrysler "cross ram?"
whale392 replied to randx0's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The long ram (Sonoramic Commando) was 1961-63 on the 413 wedge engines. The 426 wedge of 64 got the short ram intake for Max Wedge applications and a 4bbl for street applications. -
Nice looking Mustangs......gotta dig one of these out of my stash and build it!!

MPC 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee
whale392 replied to 1972 Satellite's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I remember the Pro-Street version, as I was working in a hobby shop in 1996. Always wanted it but thought it was a little hokey looking. Man do I kick myself in the butt now for NOT getting it! -
Mustang engine for the win!

Happy New Year and prosperous modeling to all my MCM brethren!

Thank you Gentlemen........I will be giving him a shout! Many thanks to MCMers.

Very nice Bee............I am in the starting of one myself and you just gave me something to shoot for!

Anybody know where I can get a stock (uncut) 33 Willys Model 77 at? I want to build a nice rod and HATE the proportions of the AMT kit. I had seen one in Resin somewhere before (I would prefer plastic if anybody has a lead on one) and now cannot find who did it. Thanks for the help MCMers! (Oh, and I think I killed the search function looking before I posted!)

Mr.Teresi, that helped immensely! As I am a jet mechanic by trade, I can plumb one of these things up no problem, I just had no idea what was used for the 'core' engine. Thank you VERY much for the info John....beautiful models by the way!

weasel, no I haven't. The closest I get is to Sharonville to GE Customer Training building (I work on CRJ200s and CRJ700s, which have the GE CF-34 series engines installed), and a few other local spots (Jungle Jims). I usually go to Xenia to Kil-kare, and have been meaning to get down to Tri-State and Riverside for some drag action. My models aren't good enough to enter in shows, and my work schedule conflicts with show dates (I work weekend nights).

The best use for the whole SSR right there...the wheels for another kit!! It is looking great, and even with the section of frame under the cab, it still looks good. If you have the GT500KR engine (minus blower) laying around, why not use it with a custom 'Weber-look' modern fuel injection set-up? The GT500 engines 'C' heads feed almost straight-up anyway......perfect excuse for the 'Webers'.
-
What supplies did you use to build the engine? I ask because I have already modified a Top Fuel frame to resemble a jet chassis (I did some work for the 'Miss-Ta-Fire' and Embry-Riddle jet dragsters, as the same people own and drive both cars) and would like to finish the build of the 'Miss-Ta-Fire' car to present to Chris and Elaine as a token of letting me help them out with the car.

Weasel, not only have I seen the models and been through the museum more times than I can count (I grew up in Orlando), but I can remember when the Museum was just ONE building and his shop/garage. I have sat in his 'Sidewinder' rail when I was a little kid, and have sat down to dinner with Don, Pat, and my dad at the car show held every year at Gainesville (in conjunction with the GatorNationals). I have a set of his old headers hanging on my wall, and have had many conversations with him. If anyone is ever in the area of Ocala and calls themselves a drag race fan, I would HIGHLY recommend going to the museum and checking it out. And you are correct, you never know when 'Big' himself will be floating around the museum or out on the grounds.

Cool idea! Sounds like the way we came up with our 1:1 150" dragster........car was built in 1964, lengthened to 150" in 1965, sold to a local guy who put a blown Olds and a 'T' body on it, then he stripped it and sold it to dad in 1975 as a roller. Dad drops a 426 Hemi into it and goes racing. Blows Hemi up and drops a 440+6 into it until it dies. We still have the car.

1992 Lincoln Mkiii - Full Built With Thunderbird Parts
whale392 replied to CustomFreak's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Rick, you talking about the 89-up MN12 platform Thunderbird (because the Thunderbird shared the Fox platform from 83-88) as a donor? I think this is looking killer, and any info on the kits used to build this would be greatly appreciated! Long live the FOXes, no matter what body sat on top of them (Mustang/Capri, LTD/lx, TBird, Cougar, Lincoln MKVII, Grenada/Zephyr)! -
Awesome job on the weathering....has a real 'surfrod' feel to it. Toss that puppy on some bags and blast some 'Men at Work' and you're golden!
-
Dang that is some thick resin!! Looking good so far.
-
You could either do some serious custom 2JZ induction work and some super-big turbos for it, or go the Hemi/supercharged route. Maybe even a 427SOHC Ford with a blower and giggle-gas. I do like the new roofline as well!

First Kit Of Twenty Ten

I will be starting, and in a long-standing tradition never finishing, the MPC reissue 1970 Super Bee kit. -
T.V. TOMMY IVO TRUCK,TRILER,AND 'WAGON MASTER"
whale392 replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Very nice build! I can see the site just gained another very knowledgable and talanted builder by your joining. Thank you for sharing that amazing build with us. -
No, Garlits has the real car at his Museum in Ocala displayed in the exploded position, along with the backwall painted like the stands and a case with some of the exploded parts sitting in it. I HIGHLY recommend (ok, almost forcibly hand-walk you there) that you visit the museum when you are in Florida. You WILL NOT be disappointed (i used to live in Orlando and dad and I would go to the museum when he held the 'Mopars with Big Daddy' shows.

Very nice! Exceptionally clean build lends a very realistic look to the model.......beautiful color choice as well.
