LOVE the color (and the rest of the truck too). What color is that?
-
Looks like she's ready for a resto! I really need to learn that weathering technique you have.....simply beautiful (in a rusty, grimy, falling apart sort-of way).

I remember seeing those in my rearview quite regularly (back when I was in Gods Waiting Room!). Great build of an all-to-familiar and, believe it or not, wanting to see again subject (Ohio snow, cold, and taxes are driving me back home to Florida). What color did you use for the Creme on this build? I know Florida had this color spec'd for them. I am building (term used loosely of course) a 1991 Mustang LX FHP SSP right now, and have the original color codes in my stash of info somewhere. If dupli-color or Plasti-cote has something close, I could use that instead. Thanks in advance.

Jim, I am afraid that I am not a Vietnam Vet, but I do recognize service ribbons (I spent 4 years in Uncle Sams Yaght Club fixing and flying his aircraft) and hold all vets in high regard. Those who have never served nor sacrificed for their country do not understand the immense amount of respect fostered in that community (this is not a slight to those who haven't served, just an observation on my part), and I for one am honored to be in the company of those who have served before me, and those of a higher skill level than my own. The truck looks great, and I would be proud to call it my work...be proud to call it yours.

Definately a nice build.........and I like the Vietnam Service Ribbon plate.

I just got my second today, and I am feeling a SOHC versus HEMI altered build coming. Yours looks great, and may just force me to alter my workbench order here real soon! (this is why I never get anything done........too much awesome inspiration on this site)

White Freightliner Dual Drive
whale392 replied to Janne Herajärvi's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks for the links Janne, but for roughly $150.00 USD for the Amazon I will have to pass (the real car was only going to cost me $500.00 USD!). I do however look forward to seeing yours completed! -
Thanks for the heads-up on this product guys! Oh, and mustangman; is that your GT in your avatar? If so, nice Fox!

I got mine a few days ago, and of course had to rifle through it. Some pros: good cast detail and parts count, very full box, great decal sheet. Some cons: non-chromed fuel tanks (this is a little thing I know, but I remember the originals having chromed tanks), some casting flash (to be expected for a kit of this vintage), (to me) an odd parts breakdown (how they were seperated). All in all, a good kit and a welcome re-issue. I have my order in for a second kit so that I might build an extended sleeper version. Thanks to AMT for re-issuing this kit.

I like your build so far, and I think it will turn out great. On a side note, that Amazon is a resin kit isn't it? Any info on it (as I almost purchased a real 122S (stateside Amazon) but the yard that had it wouldn't come off of it. I love the car, and would love to build a model of what mine could have been. -
Also digging the camshft splitter bar! She is a sexy truck....i like it.

Sure Cliff.............lead us on and then nothing! Pics or it didn't happen!

Check out the new Indycar Concept
whale392 replied to Ryan S.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My thoughts EAXCTLY Brian! All it is missing is the J82 jutting out the rear and the 'Dark Knight' himself. -
Well Cliff....you do better work with sub-par kits that I do with superior detailed kits! I couldn't pour water out of a boot with the directions printed on the heel, and you can lay down sexy paint without thinking about it.....remind me later to scoff at your 'lesser' works (will never happen!). Now, where are the pics?

Now where did I put that Suzuki Samurai kit? Looks like you guys are gonna have your very own Japanese 4x4 club going on here!

I have two Paasche VL guns, and like them both. One I have set-up for a clear only gun, and the other is my multi-purpose pen. Now, if I only built something once in a while I could show you how well they work (laziness and work schedules are a pain!).

Your Very First Real Car
whale392 replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
1965 Dodge Coronet500 convert. Harvest Gold with Black top/interior. 318poly/727. Somewhere I have a pic or two....I think. -
I am not usually one for overpriced limited run vehicles, but that car just says something to me!! The look, the sound, the overall design............awesome. That vid, CGI trickery included, has got any commercial for an American car beat hands-down. And again, just that angry, primal rumble of the exhaust note (sitting still or ripping through the rpm band).................sexy!

Don't see anything besides the photobucket 'block of doom' stating this file has been moved or deleted.

With regards to those who believe that this 're-issue' was a waste of time......your opinion is duly noted and respected. Now, let me shed some light from the other side of that perspective. I destroyed some of these ORIGINAL kits of my dads when I was young and dumb. Now that I am older and wiser, I am truly glad to have them re-issued so that I might properly enjoy them. At $43.00 for the tin, I thought it was along the current pricing line for individual kits.....no big deal to me expenditure-wise. As to the kit detail level; as stated it is a re-issue of 60s molds, and should be looked at as such. As to the level of build options contained in this kit and the sheer parts content value....this kit delivers!! Potvin blowers, SCOT and Enderle injection, 12 spoke wheels..........the list goes on. I for one am very glad they re-released this kit as they did, with all the extras. Money wasted; not hardly. Will they recoupe what they spent to release this; from my initial reaction and seeing others reactions, I believe they have a hit on their hands. I have purchased one so far, and look to snatch up AT LEAST 2 more before the whole deal is up. My dad had it pretty good in the 60s....these kits may lack somewhat on modern detail level, but they truly make up for that in parts and build variations.

We got about 4" of the 'predicted' 8" to 12" of snow. Still, people in the CommunistWealthless Mistake of Ohio will be freaking out, calling it the 'Storm of the Decade'....all the talking heads on the dumb-box are going crazy about it.
-
I remember seeing that build somewhere Jason. I always liked it; your build and my real Mustang TurboGT inspired me to dig this kit up and start building it. Something about an unloved turbo4.................................

Thanks for the clarification on the chassis design....I was thinking it worked that way (I try to set my daily drivers up for good cornering/rear control during launches as I drive HARD). My 91 Mustang GT has a Watts Link, Tri-Link, Steeda weight adjustable lower control arms, and some Tokico Illumina shocks going into the rear this winter (along with some Eibach springs). Front is a Maximum Motorsports Tube K-Member, AJE tube control arms, Steeda C/C plates, and 96GT spindles with Cobra brakes, along with the aforementioned Tokicos. But anyway, I will post more on this build when I get a chance to snap some more pics.

The freshness of new plastic.
whale392 replied to whale392's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are no 12 step programs I am afraid, but there are some killer support groups out there (like here for example). I just had this experiece again yesterday when I revelled in the freshness of the MPC Daisy Dukes Road Runner re-issue, the Double Dragster tin set (with its' slightly metallic tinge exciting the pallate), the Lindberg 64 Plymouth with the lazy half-dozen engine option, and the AMT re-issue of the White-Freightliner Cab-over in all of its glorious plastic heftness. I am addicted to freshness and grocking..............no cure needed or wanted! -
Yes, that is the Revell warren Johnson Pro Stock chassis. As to the springs next to the tranny; being that this is a pro Stock chassis, my guess is that they were used to tune the 'lift' and/or 'rebound' characteristics of the rear axle in windup during launch. It appears that they are on the anchor end of the lower control arms (something like a torque arm set-up). The engine is a T/F Funny Car motor with the Olds intake and front motor plate adapted to fit, the rest is from the Olds kit. , Closest I have to a full side-on shot of this car.
