I used to paint figures for AD&D....and these washes were in my paint supplies. At first I didn't like them, as I was used to the Pertha Paints line, but once I got used to their flow characteristics, they were a great addition to my routine and gave some killer effects/results.

Personal opinion, but I would leave that goofy roof treatment off the car. Engine is coming along nicely. I took the BBC out of mine and put a 289 from the Hertz mustang into it, along with the styled steel wheels. I am keeping an eye on this buils, should look very nice when done.

Much along the lines of the 'Cuda Cliff..................sexy!

Any of the windshields from the Momogram 1/24th Mustangs will work. If you need parts, I might be able to scare some up.......I have a few extra 'dead' 87-93s laying around.

Jim, you certainly made a silk purse from a sows ear! I have the newest AMT re-issue of this kit and I was HIGHLY disappointed when I got it home and opened. The only thing of value to me (in my personal opinion) in this kit was the SOHC engine. Maybe I'll have to re-visit this kit and take a third hard look at it. You did an excellent job with the build-up, and the final results look great.

Very nice. Sometimes I find my Model Railroading skills coming in handy in the 1/24th-1/25th scale car arena.

How about a well detailed and accurate kit of a Fox Bodied Mustang (1979-1993) that actually fits well? C'mon...the Revell 93 Cobra has the chassis plate from the 1979 Pace car and doesn't even mate to the Cobra body sides for Gods sake. Don't even get me started on the complete LACK of rear wheelwells, the crappy engine bay (looks almost nothing like the real car), and junk suspensions in the many re-issues of these kits. Hello Revell, 1980 called and it wants its' crappy detail back. Talk about an iconic car that is underlooked in scale; 1982 saw the re-introduction of the 302 (now called the HO 5.0) and horsepower was back on the table. It outran everything from the other domestic manufacturers that year (and for many more years to come might I add). Fast forward to 1987 (with respect and love to the 1983-86 guys) when the new body style came out, coupled with the carry-over 86 SEFI and 8.8", dual exhaust drivetrain/powertrain.........with its upgraded E7TE heads and revised intake, it was a killer on the streets and the strips. 1989 saw MAF nationwide added, and it suddenly became a very adaptable Musclecar. From those days forward, it brought muscle back to American auto manufacturers and did for the 302 what Chevy did with the 350.........made it cheap and easy to modify. Not knocking the 57 Chevy or the 32 Ford mentioned above, but if you are going to talk about Iconized cars.......the Fox Mustang can rightly take its' place among them.

Believe me Cliff, I understand (and am a victim myself!). It is a dang nice looking build though...........I would proudly claim that if it were mine.

Good to see you putting in some good effort on the save. The only thing I can see goofy is your already mentioned sewer pipes for plug wires. However, as I am not too competent of a builder, my opinions and comments should be taken with a bucket (forget a grain) of salt! It is looking good, and as stated, I love FoxChassis.........thank you again for saving this one (<that comment requires no salt, as I own 4 real Fox 'Stangs).

That is, in fact, VERY nice. One thought though; with the interior being totally White, it kind-of blends all into itself and looks washed out compared to the rest of the car.
-
I thought so. I am like you; I like to detail the ever-loving snot out of these kits and then sit back and see how much of it people can pick out. I have nowhere for a layout at the moment, so all of my stuff is in boxes. Awesome work so far...keep it up, I look forward to seeing this evolve!

99 Cobra motor on two huge turbos!! -
Hot Wheels had a car similar to this, and it is to this day one of my favorites. One of the guys who was stationed in the Helo squadron next to me had a Gremlin X that he stuffed a 390/4spd down into........that car was ridiculously fast. It was Root Beer Brown, and he went and had some bright Yellow vinyl 'Wolverine' work boot logos made and stuck them on the rear quarters. He called it his 'Work Oxford from Hell!'.

Looking at that, and reading your descriptions of the photos, somehow just brought a touch of summer feeling to a cold snowed-in Ohio winter. I can see downtown Tipp City right now; feel the sun warming my skin, the gentle breeze carrying with it scents of the festival going on down Main Street, the sounds of children laughing, cars firing to life, the buzz of summer activity. Thank you for that little moment away from the opressive cold and blanketed snow that is now.

With the exception of the Viper motivation, this car looks a lot like a friends dads car....color choice and wheels/stance almost match his car. Nice looking ride, and a great execution on this build.

I was thinking this was 1/87th scale. Is it a DPM kit with your detailing? I used to belong to NTrak and later to several HO Scale organizations and I would be the one to superdetail their structures. Looks outstanding so far........and tell the bartender I need a Guinness!

Brothers Performance in Tampa had an open dyno day.....two SMARTs showed up. One completely stock turned the rollers at 62hp. The second had a header and a chip (sounded MEAN!) and spun the rollers to 71hp. I don't know whether to laugh hysterically or be impressed with the power gain from just the chip and pipe.

With the style and stance......(personal opinion) combining the Double Dragster 8 Stromberg intake with that Hemi would deliver a knockout look to this ride!

I swear I responded to this already, but oh well. Awesome pics, and I think these would go well in the 1:1 reference section as well. -
Very nice! If I might suggest taking a paintbrush moistened with thinner and clean off the lug nut detail, it would really make the wheels pop.
-
^^Nice! Reference material bait there.

I frequent that site Chris......love the FHP SSP's. I do greatly thank you for the link, just in case I didn't know about it. Maybe we should transfer the link to the 1:1 references for others to use in their builds.

awesome weathering Cranky....I need to study your ways for my '30 Woodie build.

No need to shut up............HooRah brother. Just because the war is unpopular doesn't mean you have to spit on those serving in it. How was that put....."War is talked about by Old men and politicians and fought by the young." If politicians were forced to serve (in an enlisted role, so they can get the whole 'on the ground' experience), there would be less war, or more efficiently fought wars. Politics, while starting the war, has no place in it. A society that does not honor its warriors will soon be overtaken by one that does......I believe this to be true. Anyway, enough rambling....back to the regularly scheduled model, already in progress.
