Very nice build of a very sexy car. To me (this is merely opinion), the 66-67 Plymouths and Dodges (2dr Hardtops) are just about the most aestetically perfect cars built...........there really isn't anything you can do to them to improve their looks, as they just look SOOOOO good stock.

The further I get into this project, the more I believe the 'scratchbuilding your own' train of thought to be applicable. I am glad to have started on the project with some readily available kits, but I do believe the next flat I build will be from scratch! Thanks for all the info you guys have provided, and as soon an Photobucket, my camera, and the computer I am currently using (going back to the girlfriend real soon) all co-operate, I will post up some pics of the 'progress'......if you can call it that! -
I have the 83-86 Halo headrests in my 91GT.......made a world of difference in the way the seats look!

Now you're making me feel bad Cliff.............you will guilt me into working on the 'Bee one way or another won't you?!

I notice that most tanks today are either covered by Aero-fairings, left natural aluminum, or polished. I am trying to decide how far to update this kit, as I see about 1 Cabover to about 150 conventionals on the road these days. I am already extending the sleeper, using longer tanks (combining the 2 kits I have), adapting and updating the Kenworth Torsion-Air air-ride suspension, and dropping in a Cat 3406 (even though it in itself is an obsolete engine). -
Yes Cliff........I have been accused of being a bad,bad man before! I love the detail level you are planning on for these builds; you will far outstrip my lowly 'BeeSRT8 build for sure. Also, I have a '67 GTX that I won't tell you about then, and a '63 Plymouth Fury that is meeting up with a Viper for some late-night rondesvous!

Coming from someone who owns real Foxes; that looks great! You did a killer job on restoring this kit and should be proud of the results. Both thumbs WAAAAYYYYY up for this one!

Beautiful engine builds! But coming from the Mopar camp, it just looks like the 3-2bbl carbs are backwards.

Went digging today Cliff..........yanked her out of the dark corner she was sitting in. I am converting the 440+6 into a fuel-injected unit, and turning the carbs into Throttle Bodies. I am blending the running gear (brakes/wheels/tires/some suspension bits) from the Revell SRT8 Challenger with this car, plus adding some custom bits. Keep us updated on yours, and I'll see if I can start a thread on my junk 'Bee! Brad

And here I thought you were going to be building a bar!! Somewhere, in my stash of magazines, I have the article about a shine runner and Junior Johnson; detailing these very cars and his 'still' operations. Build is looking beautiful; and I will be keeping my eye on this (when it is not blurred by either Whiskey or 'Shine!). Oh, and according to the article on these cars, they had light cut-out switches mounted lower on the dash, to either kill just the brake function of the lighting, or kill all lights. Also, to give the appearance of an empty car, the rear springs were beefed up with extra leaves to bolster the car. Just thought you might want to know that if you were doing a full-on 'shiner ride.

Thanks for that link 'Zuk.........you just helped me out by answering his question!

Thanks Highway........that explaination would also help with why I see so many 53' boxes with the tandems slid ahead. I have been taking notes and pics when I can and while the build I do will not follow exact prototype, it will blend some of the prototype features I like together in one trailer. Looks like this thread will turn into a build thread starting this week. Thanks to everyone who contributed to it so far, and stay tuned for hacked plastic and crushed expectations! -

I'm doing a lot of changing around on this kit, and some scratchbuilding. I love it for what it is, a great kit and a wonderful base for future mods/builds. Did yours have the body colored tanks? I am considering stripping the wheels/tanks and just painting them Alclad aluminum on my next build to simulate some aged Alcoas, or maybe reshaping the holes to the Freightliner logo to mimic the newer factory wheel. -
To add some info Cliff..........the 69&1/2 six-pack intakes were cast aluminum from Edelbrock. 1970 and later were cast iron from Mopar themselves. Some early build '70 Bees got the Aluminum unit, and the MPC kit contains the early unit. Keep us posted Cliff............I might just have to drag my '70 Bee back out and kick it into gear again.

Looking great Cliff. If they turn out as your 'Cuda and GTX did, these will be awesome.

what would be best for plug wires?
whale392 replied to dale's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Take a trip to Hobby Lobby and in their jewelry section is bead chord. It comes in a variety of different sizes. 24,28, and 30 gauge seem to have the best scale size for the plug wire job, but it has to be painted. I have a butt-load of these spools in all sizes for various projects. -
Wish I had your determination! I have 20 projects going at once....makes for a lot of stalled builds!

Anybody have any real, good, clear pics of the 3406 variants of the Caterpillar engine handy and willing to share? I have hit up most of the links listed elsewhere here and all the Google imaging/searching with minimal results. I need to see how the oiling system and the injector pump are run/fitted. I have the fuel manifold (the 6 injector lines from the pump to the injectors) built, but how does the pump get its' fuel. Where do the feed lines hook up to? Turbo oiling I have, but how about the rest? Help a crazy detail a KW W900 Aerodyne if you can! This is what you get when you let a car guy build a truck model.
