62 Catalina black interior pics?
noname replied to noname's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the pics. Walt. Thanks alot Charlie, I appreciate the help. I prefer to get things factory correct if possible. I don't want to paint my interior black if it wasn't available on the 1:1 cars. Look forward to your reply. Matt -
62 Catalina black interior pics?
noname replied to noname's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Charlie, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Here is a link I'd like you to go to if you would. At the very bottom is interior colours. In the right hand column they list a "Velvet Black (textured)". Like I say, I can't find any pictures anywhere of a Catalina with black interior. What do you make of this? Does this list represent the colour of the painted metal parts of the interior do you think? http://www.oldride.com/library/1962_pontiac_catalina.html Thanks, Matt -
Hello folks. I'm building a 62 Catalina and was planning on painting it black. I was planning on having a black interior and from what I gather that was an optional colour. But after spending some time on Google, I just can't find a picture of a 62 Catalina with black interior. If anybody has a picture or two they could share I'd appreciate it. Thanks

I was just wondering if anybody here has an Alps printer and can do decals for people? I guess it would have to be an Alps printer as I need some of the decals to be for black cars. Thanks, Matt

Coolplastic, I made the headers. The header flanges came from an old Revell parts pack 283 kit that were sanded thinner. Then I just used some styrene rod. I have made the flanges before but using these were easier.

Thanks for that Gasser59. I specially like the diagram. I've made a number of straight axles myself. My 32 Ford Altered I recently posted here has one. Kit ones usually suffer from lack of detail. And kits usually come with drop axles for lowering. But I make mine out of styrene. I like the looks of yours better. I wouldn't even paint it if it were mine. Nothing replicates metal better than real metal. And I also use Zap a Gap for everything that needs a strong bond, is not plastic or has a gap. Great stuff.

Thanks for the compliment W-409. Wouldn't a W head motor look nice in one of these things.

This is looking really good. I'd like to know where you get the "printing plate". I was also wondering if you are using epoxy or super glue or what to hold the front end pieces together aside from the pins.

Thanks Gasser 59. 6bblBird, if anyone would know it would be you. You've probably done more research on this stuff than anyone else. I appreciate the help you've given in the past.

Thanks guys. It is important to me that a drag car be labelled right and have period correct parts. That is what makes it fun.

Hello there. Haven't posted anything here for a while as I had been exploring military modeling and whatnot. Lot to learn there, I'd suggest it to anyone. I did get this Altered recently completed. going for an early 60's low buck Altered. You know, spend the money on the engine and the body can wait kinda thing. Alot of scratchbuilding and that's all I'll say for now. I hope you get a kick out of it.

opel blitz in north america?
noname replied to noname's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Yes Robert it seems that there are a few scattered around in museums and whatnot but it doesn't seem any were actually used as work trucks from what I can see. More of a novelty.thanks -
Great job Walter. Super clean!

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Yes this is more than 2%. I can't remember how much but eight inches for the rear tires sound about right. The front wheel openings were also moved forward. I have a Belvedere I want to do sometime a little more extreme.

Finally got this one done. Made my own glass, added a few decals. This car could have used a name or a sponser but I didn't have anything that would fit the bill. I need to make my own decals!

I like this car alot. I was going to do one of these as an old Super Stocker but traded it. So I dig this.

Keeling & Clayton F/E and R/E Top Fuel Dragster
noname replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
They are both nice but I like the earlier style of the first one best. I specially like the way you weathered the rear tire and rim. They look real! -
Well, I did get the body painted. I'm just waiting for it to dry good so I can polish it a little. I really like Duplicolour but it needs a little help to get a shine. I'll have to take a pic of the engine. I didn't like the goofy looking nipples on top of the air filters so I bent up a tiny piece of pop can to make it look like a wing nut. I don't know how it will look in a photo but it's not bad with the naked eye. I also had to redo the filters themselves. After looking more closely at a picture, I realized the filter covers the hole velocity thingy. Just ba small detail but I figure, mise well do it right. The interior panels have to be painted yet. I'm also going to make my own glass which is always a pain. I'll get some pics up soon hopefully. Thanks for the interest. Early AWB drag cars rule. I've got a few more project lined up for the future. I've also been starting to collect some military vehicles. Great canvas for weathering. When I get a Jeep or something done I'll post it.

Very nice looking. The black rims out back really add to it.

Gene Snow`s: the "Snowman" Charger F/C
noname replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
John, your one of the only people I've seen weather a race car. Good for you. I see too many models that look like they just rolled out of the paint shop, brand new tires and all. -
Nice project and a beautiful dragster.

No I was spraying Duplicolour. I figure something in the paper reacted with the primer as it was stuck right on there and almost softened the plastic. I'll just have to take my time and try to correct it. Thanks for the interest.

Funny you should ask Whale. I just went to paint it today and ran into a problem. I thought I'd paint the inside of the roof first so I laid the body upsidedown on a piece a old newsprint. It was clean and is blank with no ink whatsoever. So I went ahead and sprayed it. After letting it dry for a short time I picked it up only to find the paper stuck to the roof. The white Tamiya primer had several days to dry I might add. When I went to scrape the paper off with my nail, it made gouges in the plastic. Weird!!!!! It was like the paper was fused to the body. So I sanded it and applied some putty. After a little bit I sanded it again and the putty seemed a bit soft. So I'll let the next bit dry over night and see if that helps. Man, talked about sucky! After all that work and I had the body looking good as if the AWB body came in the kit that way. Don't worry though, I plan on making this work. I also have a 55 Nomad I've been working on too. I'll post some pics of that when it's done.
