  1. I have to say, for a newer car that has a nice mean look to it.
  2. Real nice. Never seen this one done before.
  3. Got the interior finished. Engine is coming along.
  4. The finish is done really well. The front view specially looks realistic. The owner of this vehicle must be from down south. If it were where I lived that bare metal would have turned to rust!
  5. Well I never got anywhere to get engine paint so I used that Duplicolour again. I have to get moving on this engine. In the meantime I've been picking at the interior. Made one of those push button shifters ( don't know if there is a proper name for them ). I tried to make it look like some paint chipped off of it. I hope it worked.
  6. I really like the pic of the 1:1 and the scale version is coming along very nicely. That would look great in a diorama pulling over a Hot Rod.
  7. Excellent job inside and out on the van. Lots of duct tape too. Your very good with details and I'd also like to see any future auto models you might do. I'd also like to point out that watching Red Green ,drinking Tim Hortons and being a hockey fan does NOT make you a Canadian. If you live in Quebec then you are definately CANADIAN!!!
  8. I'll get at the engine as soon as I get some paint for it. Dave, that sounds like a cool idea. I don't think I have as big a parts box as you though.
  9. Thats right Casey, a 727. I wanted to use one of those push button shifters. Now I see there is going to be a fit problem as the tranny is wider. Hopefully a little grinding of the firewall will take care of that. The transverse leaf spring set up has been a problem all along with the engine fitting. Maybe thats why you don't often see one on a Willys. Oh well, I wanted to do something different. It's my nature.
  10. I'm adding another cool detail from the Willys in the magazine. Can anybody guess what it is? Here is your hint. Do you know what the tranny on the top is?
  11. Thanks for your input Casey. I was planning on running the water pump of course and radiator. I thought it would look neat for some reason to have two pulleys and a short belt.
  12. Well I had the engine looking pretty good and then I went a little too far with it. So I stripped the paint off of it. I will try to get some decent engine paint in the next week or two. I had fit issues with the engine hitting the frame and the alternater hitting the inside of the fender. Well lets just say I took care of it. Part of this is that the engine will have a fan and belt but no alternater, just a belt with two pulleys. I think this is believable. The vehicle would be push started but would still have a cooling system. What do you think? I added coil springs to the rear and weathered the underneath. The interior will also be weathered. Things happen to vehicles when they sit around right. Everything looks a bit red in this lighting.
  13. Texrat, looking great. I was wondering where you got those front wheels. Is there more than one supplier of these realistic spoked wheels?
  14. I've been thinking about this for a while. Hope you don't mind if any of us borrow that technique. It looks quite convincing. In the past I've done that bare metal thing with just paint . Didn't turn out too bad.
  15. My paint had dried up I usually use for engines and I don't have a spray can close enough. So...out came the artist acrylics. A little rough texture but I'll try sanding it. I'll wait till I weather it before I be too critical. A little black wash here and paint chip there may bring it around. Sometimes you have to use what you have and I don't live near a hobby shop.
  16. Congradulations Old Hermit. I guess you had the weight advantage over the rest of us.
  17. You can get these wheels from the John Mazmanian or Stone, Woods and Cook Willys kits ( Revell ). Far as I know these kits are the only p[lace you can get these tires and rims. I may have seen similar rims in resin somewhere but not sure where. Some purdy ain't thay.
  18. I'm in N.S.. The 1:1 car is in the last issue of Rod and Kulture (#19 Fall 2009 ).
  19. I don't mean to disappoint anyone but I've decided to stay even though I never had any inclination to leave. From here on out I'm going to start doing the exact same thing I've always done.
  20. Ya,...I think I'm liking this better.
  21. Dave, I actually went at the axle last night. I got it just a smidge more narrow than the modern front suspension that comes with the kit so it should be good ( I hope ). All I did was cut the spindles off, trimmed each end and glued the spindles back on. Hope it works and hope the CA glue holds. I hate to hack things up like this but I didn't have any decent spare drop axles. Thanks for your interest guys.
  22. The kit is the Revell Street Rod kit. The Cragars are from the Rat Packer. Yes use my inner door panel panel idea . They are taken from a photo of a 1:1 Willys so are pretty correct. The slots came from one of the Willys Gasser kits I believe. To dull the tires I dipped them in alcohol for a while but got better results when I got the bright idea of rubbing them with toothpaste. Toms of Maine to be exact but I'm sure it doesn't matter. I'm thinking it's the baking soda.
  23. Looks good so far. A good even stance for a post 60's Gasser.
  24. Add another Nova Scotian to the list.
