  1. Gee, I hope nobody got hurt!
  2. Looks like it's coming right along. You'll have it done in no time.
  3. Very cool. That black on white with the black rims is awesome. The car has sooo much character.
  4. This looks like a great project and it is looking good so far. I am going to put a fixed body panel on my current project. I was planning on painting the metal finish but I'm looking forward to seeing how your BMF turns out.
  5. I really like the rims on the back . They look like slots. Where did you get those? Don't worry about being young. Just think how good you'll be if you stick with it. Remember, most important thing, take yer time!!! If you don't like the way something is looking, take a deep breath and start it over.
  6. Ya, like I say even acrylic paints are not that good for you. They just don't need solvents. Being ablt to use water is their high point. I haven't looked into it yet but something someone said before gave me the impression the Testors were better that way. I may be wrong. You know, like craft paints. They are practically harmless. Although I haven't tried eating them yet. I was mostly wondering if people found them to brush paint better.
  7. Thanks for the replys. JPR, I thought I heard that the Testors weren't toxic or something like that. Not that acrylics are as bad as oil based paints but I know your not really suppose to breath much of the Tamiya acrylics.
  8. Amazing! To say you are a clean builder would be an understatement.
  9. Someone gave me this kit to see what I'd do with it. I'll admit, these are not among my favorite automobiles. However, it's really not that bad a kit. So my plan is to make this a mild Gasser circa 1960. A car whose owner does not exactly have a whole lot of cash. He drives this through the week and races it on the weekends. I started by shaving off the side trim. Then I added front springs and shackles to the rear springs. I would have added brake/fuel lines but couldn't find a pic. to show me how they went. Oh well. Then came the weathering . I also weathered the engine , adding a bit of the original colour...what was left. The rear tire tread is going to be worn quite a bit. And the body of course will have it's fair share of use as well. Thanks for looking.
  10. That is cool! Great job on the rust.
  11. TxRat, that is looking awesome right now. Isn't that a pain putting those tiny nut heads on the fuel pump?!!!
  12. Thanks Saclefinishes. Unfortunately I couldn't find an under chassis shot. I did find out elsewhere that the shocks run through the springs.
  13. I have never tried the Testors Model master acrylics before. How are they? The Tamiya isn't bad but I have to stir the gunk at the bottom once and a while. How is Testors for brushing.? Any thoughts? Thanks
  14. I was wondering if anybody here happens to have a chassis shot of a stockish 49 Merc. In particular I am looking for front shock placement as well as brake and fuel line routing. Thanks for any help. Oh ya. I also looking for interior colours. A tan perhaps?
  15. Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments.
  16. Mine is done.
  17. Very nice. Super clean and I'm glad you added the side windows.
  18. Looks like a cool project. They sure look like slicks on the back. I wonder if they were used for street racing or if it got towed to the track?

  20. I'd like to build a high revving screamer like that for our 1:1 car someday. I'd like to see old pics of the car when it was first built. As far as the model goes, you've done a great job on the chassis.
  21. Those weld lines look real nice.
  22. Looks great so far. I really like the rear wheels.
  23. Ya , I like this. Good job.
  24. I don't mean to freak anybody out but I actually like the blue tube stuff. I use it all the time. My models haven't fell apart yet! Although I do admit I only got back into the hobby a couple years ago. So far so good. I even use it on some painted parts with no problems. It will eat the paint ( nice for weathering ). I have even glued wheels on with it. The nice thing about this is that the glue always stays a tad bit flexible. So if a wheel is not quite straight, you can bend it into shape without it snapping off. I still use my Zap a Gap ca when I need extra strength or quick drying. I say go ahead and try it on little things like steering linkages or things that you may not want to dry quickly. How strong does a blower scoop on top of an injection system or a valve stem really have to be?
  25. Oldscool, yes the leafsprings were scratched. The whole front end was actually. Not that hard to do. Moparfan, I painted the bumpers aluminum because sometimes racers used aluminum to lighten the car up. Sometimes they would use fibreglass or acid dip the pumpers and then paint them silver as well.
