scale model car
Brett Barrow replied to TMiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I get this all the time with R/C customers wanting kits instead of RTR's. Just send it to me. I'll take it apart for you, then send it to you and it's a kit. Problem solved! No one has taken me up on the offer yet. -

You may not remember it, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. I grew up in Virginia, the Redskins were the local team (though most folks seemed to be Cowboys fans). It happened. I was in high school at the time, we were the Warriors and had an Indian mascot, we were afraid we'd have to change. From Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Redskins_name_controversy -

In the case of the Redskins, there's a really simple solution... -
Is the AMT 1970 1/2 Camaro any good?
Brett Barrow replied to '08SEAL's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Z/28 is still molded in orange. It was the 71 Charger I was thinking of, it's in that same series and is also orange on the box top but is molded in white. Sorry if I caused any confusion! I knew I had opened an orange car in that series and was presently surprised to find white. That orange plastic is hideous. -
Cool! A 57 Ford Custom Kustom! 4 bar Lancers look really good on 57 Fords, BTW

Serious modeler envy
Brett Barrow replied to MustangGuy23's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Traditional Rods and Kustoms in Scale. The focus on that forum is period-correct traditional rods and kustoms before the late 60's. It's like the HAMB for models. I don't know if the mods are OK with links to other forums, so I'll just say to google "Trak in scale" -
The rumors have been circulating in the distribution and retail channels for years. To say they have been met with anything more than a collective "meh" would be an understatement. Public support can only get you so far, it's the distributors and retailers that are buying direct from Revell that have to get behind it for it to happen.

Modern China might have been a better choice of words. -
Hemi Orange Engine paint and V2 Hemi Orange/Tor Red are not the same. V2 has a little flake in it, but it really only shows in bright sunlight. It's not what I would classify as a "metallic" by today's standards.

I don't know how it works exactly, but I'm sure it's somewhere between the two extremes. It's in the way that you use it. "He's a regular Einstein" is a complement and "Nice job, Einstein" is an insult. -
X/SX was a rather short-lived class called Experimental Super Stock. Think A/FX cars with unaltered bodies. Since this kit has a stock body it fits the class, at least in spirit.

Hakenkreuz. I believe I made the distinction a couple posts back. If not I meant to. A swastika turned 45 degrees so it's a diamond shape. That's the Nazi symbol. But to everyone but WWII nerds like me it's a swastika. -

Sorry, but you don't get to say "I'm not offended so no one should be offended". That's not how it works. -
The MM GM Flame Red is the mid-60's color. It's a true red. Something's screwy with my tablet right now and I can't get any of the icons to post links or photos to show, or I'd post a couple examples. Go to paintref.com and search Flame Red and you'll see 1975 Corvette Flame Red in the results sticking out like a sore thumb. They have example photos of cars painted in it, too. Hemi Orange is a metallic, but just barely noticeable in 1:1. I'm not sure the MM even has flake in it. I have a can but I don't think I've used it yet.

Lucky they didn't cut the split out of the window while they were at it. Lots were cut like that to make them look like the "new and improved" 64.

Those are looking really good. I don't recall (not a GM joke, I swear) seeing the Revell die-cast to plastic Bandit built up yet. Speaking of 75 Corvette Flame Red, it's a funny color, it's orangier than a lot of colors named "orange". Don't think I've ever seen it next to Hugger Orange (which was Carosel Red on Pontiacs), but I have seen it next to Hemi Orange (which was Tor Red on Plymouths) and it's noticeably orangier than that. In 1976 they renamed it "Orange Flame".

It's the way a child learns to speak, by mimicking its parents, or the way a great artist learns by copying the masters. Industrial China is still in its infancy. Check back in 20 years (probably more like 5 at the rate they're going) and I bet you they're cranking out some pretty cool original designs. -
Well, I think the idea was what it Dale Earnhardt moved to Japan and raced JGTC instead of NASCAR, so there were some ground rules. I like that he incorporated the Camaro wheels into the car, but it's the chrome I find really jarring. I think all-red would even work well and be something just as "out there" and over-the-top. Like I said, just spitballing. There's been several of these what-if racing Camaros on the board recently and they've got me thinking about how I would do one. Maybe I need to go start chopping some styrene instead of posting so much!

Having grown up in the South,I can tell you that the offense over the Confederate flag is not about the Civil War but rather its use by the Klan. Same for the swastika (technically "Hakenkreuz" when we're talking about the Nazi's 45 degree angled version), it really didn't become that offensive until the Neo-Nazis came on the scene. Catallo and other So-cal rodders and surfers were just slapping German crosses on stuff and that's the German cross he picked. It was replaced by the more common Maltese cross later on. I wonder if Hot Rod got any letters about it? -
They just don't look like the typical wheels they run in that race series, they're usually black with the occasional gunmetal or white, I don't think I've ever seen red or chrome. Google JGTC or Super GT to see what I mean. Come to think of it the all-white look would look great on this car, IMO. Would look like the iconic Calsonic scheme. And I'm not saying to change them, Kerry. If you like them keep them, that's all that matters. Just spitballin' over here!

Acrylic Wax In Canada

It should be located near the floor cleaner. But it's not wax! Nobody but janitors use wax anymore! -
