  1. The difference is we've been in the loop since this kit was just beginning development. Other manufacturers wait until the tooling is finished. Maybe Moebius wanted to gauge reaction before they had committed large amounts of money to the project
  2. True, but I think the idea was to ensure that the media remained just an outlet that individuals could use to broadcast that free speech, not the entity actually making the speech.
  3. The end of the FCC's Fairness Doctrine (aka "equal time") in 1987 and subsequent opposition to attempts to reinstate it certainly led to the polarization we have on TV and talk radio, and by extension, the internet.
  4. The Handyman's the 2-door lowest trim level wagon. It has the 55-style 150 trim. I want to see one because they were popular junior stockers, and it would be an easy conversion to a sedan delivery which dominated junior stock for a few years because they were allowed to run Hydramatic transmissions due to a rules loophole. That's a Handyman in the near lane and a sedan delivery in the far lane. A 4door 210 wagon would be cool, there's the well known "Jolly Green Giant" Junior stock. Really, I'd love to see any non-Nomad tri-five wagon, just to have the normal wagon roof and tail.
  5. It's not so much that I hate IE, it's just that I like Firefox and Chrome because I can customize them with plug-ins and add-ons. I have a Chrome plugin that automatically loads the next page on most forums (including this one) so I don't have to click "next page", I just keep scrolling down. And there's plenty of good ad-blocker plug-ins out there. I use "Down It All" for Firefox a lot when gathering reference pics, it will save all the photos on a page in one bulk download instead of having to do them one at a time. There's tons of good stuff out there for the other browsers.
  6. And a 57 Ford Ranch Wagon to go with it!
  7. That was one problem with Rod & Custom lately, a lot of the tech stuff was culled from HAMB threads. And a lot of the cars were featured on there, too. The Teixeira 40 Willys Gasser, for example, was built on there in 2008 and featured in R&C last year.
  8. Make sure you've added MCM to your "Compatibility View Settings" under the Tools menu, it doesn't remember what sites you had from the old version. I hate IE, but I'm on a work computer with no other option, and I can cut and paste with no problem.
  9. And sadly, the 56 is the Bel Air we really need! I think the sales thing is more because it's a 56, the 55 and 57 will always overshadow the 56 regardless of the trim level, but a Bel Air hardtop probably would have done at least a little better, certainly no worse. And what we REALLY need is a 57 150 Handyman wagon first, then a Nomad!
  10. These come with the old 1/24 Goodyear GT Radials and they look a little too tall, especially on the front, I was wondering what common replacements builders have used on these kits, specifically Fireball Modelworks' 1/24 BF Goodrich Radial T/A 235/60R-15 and 295/50R-15 (wide). It will be a Baldwin Motion with very slight fender flares, so it's fine if they stick out a little. Wondering if I should get a big and little set, or all one type. Any suggestion of other tires are fine, too. I have a set of Arii/Otaki BFG's, too, but the fronts look a little small, it'd be interesting to see how they look on a built up if anybody has used them. TIA!
  11. Tip: do not cut the decals and then spray them, the paint will seal the decal to the backing paper. Ask me how I know.... Scuff the shine off the decal sheet first, that helps with adhesion.
  12. I always thought the '56 210 Del Ray was an odd choice to come out of the Wal-Mart era. Personally, I love the post sedans.
  13. Several new Revell kits have done away with the tub and just use the back of the chassis. The 62 Vette, 57 Ford and 50 Olds are like this, and there are probably a few others I'm forgetting. Some 90's AMT/Ertl kits were designed this way, too.
  14. Carryover from the 55 kit. Chrysler switched to 12V in 56.
  15. Well, there's the problem, that's an SS hood on a "Z/28" and that's not an RS grille. No wonder it wasn't around long. Should just call it SS and bring it back out.
  16. Instead of cars as horseless carriages, they're becoming more like the carriage and the horse. Very, very smart horses...
  17. "App" is just what we called "programs" a few years ago. Digital magazines are usually cheaper than print, at least the ones I do are. I just re-upped my sub to Muscle Car Review the other day, it was $14.99, print is $19.99, plus on the Kindle the first 30 days are free when you sign up to a new magazine. Some mags charge a once-a-year price, others, like Scale Auto, do it by issue, it's $2.33 per issue which it think is about half price a print sub.
  18. These puns are sodastracting. I'll pop the next guy that makes one, you beverage believe it! I'll be keeping Tabs on this thread!
  19. I have a Kindle Fire, I can tell you how it works on that. Source Interlink uses the Kindle's Newstand Store. You download the issue into the device. The default setting is to keep 2 issues of each title in the device's physical memory at a time, and the rest in cloud storage, but you can chose to "save" an issue and it will keep as many as you have space for on the device so you can access them even when you're not connected to the internet. I can also access the magazines from my smartphone and any computer connected to the internet with a Kindle reader app. Some other magazines use a web-based service like PocketMags/Magazine Cloner. They operate just like the regular Kindle mags except you install an app on the device. But you can read those magazines from any computer on the internet without installing an app. I've been doing digital magazines for at least 5 years (been that long since I bought a paper magazine except for Model Cars and Hot Rod Deluxe, I wish they'd go digital!) across several devices and I've never lost one. Every one I bought I can still read, even if I've canceled my subscription.
  20. We touched on it in one of the "Revell New Kit" threads, but it hasn't been brought up here that this kit's engine is based on the 2nd Parts Pack Chevy #1107 which was labeled as a 327 Corvette engine and was not part of the ca. 2000 Parts Pack reissues. So, at worst, you have a parts pack engine, some cool period speed parts and a cool decal sheet even if you chuck the rest...
  21. Am I crazy? Of course the answer is yes, but that's for an entirely different reason... The current Revell Snap-tite Camaro is yellow and has the ZL2 hood and RS grille, but I swear I remember Revell releasing one that was either orange or red and had a standard grille and separately molded SS hood (the one with the fake square velocity stacks), but I can find no mention or photos of it online. I did find a listing with a discontinued number for a snap Camaro that was #85-1954, but no picture. So am I crazy, or did this kit actually exist? Anybody else remember seeing it, or maybe even own one?
  22. Man, I love a good rep-stock like this! Makes me want to get back to the bench and get cracking on mine!
  23. Lots of folks call me "Bart" or "Burt", or they pronounce my last name "borrow" - it's an English word, as in "wheelbarrow"! I can't image what they do to yours or other furrin'-soundin' names...
  24. Never even noticed that. Been reading and saying it wrong all these years... Thanks, Hairry!
