  1. Most interesting. Charlie Larkin
  2. Too bad I don't want a Subaru repair bill (listened to too many of my friends complain about them) and I don't fit well in Imprezas. That was a fun couple of minutes. I wonder if they're actually going to make a short of it? Charlie Larkin
  3. Another candidate for the Darwin Awards, I see.... Two hundred feet tall? I always thought the Wile. E. Coyote/Road Runner cartoons were an exaggeration. I guess not. Mark- interesting reading about those plants. I really do need to get down there some year. Perhaps sometime, the Desert Classic and NNL-East won't be the same weekend. Charlie Larkin
  4. I block time. When working (entirely too little lately,) that comes first. Then... Stuff at home to try and get this horror show straightened out (my goal is to have 2/3-3/4 of it done by fall, no matter how much my parents fight me along the way.) Job search (usually while taking a break from the house.) A walk when I can- not too hot/humid and light traffic. Everything else- car shows, little trips, maybe a date or two (HA!), and anything else that's enjoyable. And I still build as much as possible. I'm working out how to rig a paint-booth now so I can take advantage of the air conditioner in the house and actually get some painting done. Charlie Larkin
  5. Wow. Most impressive. Soon as I have the money, I'm getting one. I think the real trucks are plug-ugly, but this is so nicely done, the effort deserves support. I'm sure I can find a good way to use it for a creative display, too. Charlie Larkin
  6. Nice build. Try standing back a little bit with your camera- that can help focus, and possibly benefit your detail shots. I'm assuming you're using a digital camera- most of them have a macro setting. Try that for your detail shots. If you shoot 35mm/120, a macro lens (if you have an SLR) would be helpful, otherwise, do the best you can. One of the little table-top tripods will also help you to keep the camera stable, allowing you to have better photos. If you're free on the 26th, try to make the trip to Wayne for NNL-East, the largest model car show on Earth. Over 1000 entries and lots of friends, inspirations, and vendors. Charlie Larkin
  7. Reminds me a little of that "Dusk Rose" color that was a mid-year addition. Very nice work. Those Revell-Mono Tri-5s aren't a great choice for a first build, but together, you made a great build and great memories, and that's what's most important. Charlie Larkin
  8. Gotta agree- all we have now are imitations. That Imperial is pure, simple elegance. Very nice, Dan. Charlie Larkin
  9. Very nice work on that. Great colors and photography. Charlie Larkin
  10. Please tell me those cactus pictures are faked? Man, some of those things are big, almost like trees. Charlie Larkin
  11. Stunningly beautiful. Charlie Larkin
  12. Cool, Al. I'd like to see a couple of pictures of the whole rig, myself. Charlie Larkin
  13. Bedford being GM-owned explains why it looks sort of like a Chevy. Hmmm..... Interesting concept, Steve. Charlie Larkin
  14. Very nice work, Jared. I'll look forward to seeing this done- it's going to look great. Charlie Larkin
  15. I think that would be too fast to cut the lawn effectively. But, boy does it look like fun! Charlie Larkin
  16. Idiot-proofing? Maybe only idiots can use them. I can't get those things to pour right for love nor money. Perhaps a better idiot made them. As my cousin likes to say, "when you make something idiot-proofed, don't you know they go and build a better idiot." Charlie Larkin
  17. In the four years I've used 7/8, I think I've had that come up maybe once. Between a decent antivirus and letting MicroSoft do its automatic things, I have very little trouble. Charlie Larkin
  18. Look good, Tulio. What did you use for the adhesive paper? Charlie Larkin
  19. Very neat, Tom. I like your WABC logo for the look-of-the-month, too. The old radio logos were cool. Charlie Larkin
  20. And there you have my point made....TOO dry! Too wet, I feel lousy, too dry, I feel lousy. Conversely, 70-80 degrees with low humidity is almost perfect for me. As long as Phoenix has a decent hobby shop (seems to,) one or two active lodges (Masons) and some kind of live music scene, I could very happily live there 4-6 months out of the year. Charlie Larkin
  21. Very nice, Harry. A kit I'd love to see Revell-Mono find the molds for. And one I'd like to see new in 1/25. Charlie Larkin
  22. That's a very nice color for that, Rich- not too far off from the original Trophy Blue- a little brighter, but the same basic shade. I like the pinstripes, too. Charlie Larkin
  23. If April Fools...good one. If not, Congratulations, Wayne. I'm going to make it out west someday. I'd love to meet with a bunch of you guys at one of the club meetings or a show. Charlie Larkin
  24. I've started foldering most of the icons. Keeps things much neater. Charlie Larkin
  25. Yeah. What he said. Charlie Larkin
