  1. Rich, that engine and firewall are great. I'm really looking forward to seeing this next week. Charlie Larkin
  2. Very nice color pick, James. Charlie Larkin
  3. When I was living in the western part of Masschusetts in 2005-06, not far from me were two McGinnis scheme (royal blue with white and black herald) Boston & Maine cabooses for sale. I was seriously toying with buying one, putting it on a lot, and using it for my house until I could get a little more money up, then use the caboose for my trains. Great minds run..."on the same track." Charlie Larkin
  4. That's what they suggested, Pete. Apparently, the climate had been much nicer to the mechanicals on 4014. It would be nice for the Cheyenne display engine to at least get a cosmetic freshening. Charlie Larkin
  5. For those of you who haven't heard, one Big Boy will be back in operation sometime in the next few years. http://news.yahoo.com/huge-big-boy-steam-locomotive-coming-back-life-073258235.html?bcmt=1397590024456-f2db2988-5ce8-4531-9e4f-66897e543f69 The news clip at the very end is a nice reporting job. Charlie Larkin
  6. Heading home from Eastern Star tonight was a snow/sleet/rain mix. All kinds of fun driving, especially the long run I have (about 60 miles to my chapter- ended up there because I was living out that way and I have a lot of friends in that chapter,) and late at night. Rain all day tomorrow- well, today, and more Thursday, and in the 40s. Yuck. Charlie Larkin
  7. I wish one of the jobs I've applied for would hurry up and hire me; I really want to get one of these and the '49 conversion. everything is very nicely done. Charlie Larkin
  8. Very nice outcome on that. Charlie Larkin
  9. Handsome little man. Charlie Larkin
  10. Hmmm....you may have a point there. Charlie Larkin
  11. From you, I take that as a complement of the highest order. Thank you. Charlie Larkin
  12. WOW! Some great stuff. You and Tom need to come to some kind of agreement about not going the same weekend. I'd love to do both shows some year. Charlie Larkin
  13. I hope I can still get a room, otherwise, I'll be nearby, but I'll be there for dinner Friday if all goes the way I'm planning. Worst case, I'm on the road before dawn Saturday. Got some stuff to pick up from Don Holthaus. I have really come to look forward to NNL-East. It's one of my favorite things to do all year. Charlie Larkin
  14. I wish I could drive a manual transmission. When I was learning to drive, Dad had a 5-speed Aries. I tried to drive it, but could never get the hang of the clutch, and burned it a few times. After that, I was driving Mom's Cutlass. The Aries was assassinated by an inattentive driver before I got my license. Since then, everything's been automatic. And I could never talk any of my friends into teaching me how to drive stick. Charlie Larkin
  15. For a kit consistently criticized for being so off, it doesn't look that bad at all, assuming the Franklin Mint car is right. Mine's only a four-cylinder, but let's go for a tour... Completed in 2010, the first time I finished something since high school... Nowhere nice as yours, but still something that makes me smile every time I look at it on the desk. Charlie Larkin
  16. Seeing this makes me happy. Charlie Larkin
  17. All kinds of neat new stuff added. More votes. I could spend hours there... Charlie Larkin
  18. Very nice, Philip. I took a Grand Caravan out for a short test-drive and thought it was a very nice vehicle. As my great aunt used to say "use it in good health." Charlie Larkin
  19. Agree 100%, especially with something so rare. Charlie Larkin
  20. Two very nice cars. I do wish there were more of these preserved. Charlie Larkin
  21. Looks great. Charlie Larkin
  22. So the grilles on the '53 should all be that cream-white color? Good to know. Charlie Larkin
  23. They're doing a convertible, too? Oooh, this is getting good. Do the '41 next, and this could be considered the perfect set of tools, even with the couple of little flubs on the SD. Charlie Larkin
  24. I never knew this kit existed. Nice job. 1/25-ish scale, I'm assuming? Charlie Larkin
