  1. Actually, everyone used the convertible interior for their cars, AMT and MPC included. Jo-Han did cut a few more corners than others, though with stuff like the chassis, and most of the AMC V8s. Charlie Larkin
  2. From Dad: would've looked better with a DeSoto front end. Art: A differnt color might help. A dark one would hide it well.... Charlie Larkin
  3. Yeah. The Econoline with the '57 Caddy bumper is no great prize, either. Charlie Larkin
  4. LOTS of good ideas on there, automotive and not. Charlie Larkin
  5. Possibility of snow for the Berkshires and higher elevations of Vermont Tuesday. Today...I stayed in most of the day, I was very sore from yesterday and didn't feel like moving too much. But I did go outside for about twenty minutes. Humid, but nice. Still 58 degrees now. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, too. Charlie Larkin
  6. Nope, Rob's a Worcester/Leicester boy originally. He moved there in 2010 because Rhode Island's economy had failed so miserably, and he figured "well, if I can make it there, I can make it anyplace," got a job three weeks later, lost it not quite a year later, and is now marking about nine months at his new job- yep, two years of nothing or very little. Shrewsbury....wonder how that would taste? If ours, it would be kinda rich. Charlie Larkin
  7. I'm hoping to do it next year if the funds are available. GSL is a must for me. I'll probably have two dozen rolls of film with me and I probably will have completely mastered my IS-2's macro lens and functions. Charlie Larkin
  8. Very nice indeed. Charlie Larkin Will it remove the meddlesome electronic failures-in-waiting, too?? Charlie Larkin
  9. Many happy returns, Mark. Hope all is well.

  10. Very nice, Mark. Charlie Larkin
  11. Wow, what a build. It inspires me to build the one I bought when I had money. Re: chassis. I wonder if combining an AMT Road Runner/GTX chassis, and modify the torsion bars to the correct coil springs might bring it a little closer to right? Whatever the case, this is a great bit of building, and most important, it looks great on the shelf. Charlie Larkin
  12. Very nice save on that marker, John. Interesting technique, as well. I probably would've taken a piece of plastic, glued it in from behind, and then re-finished the surface with the plastic-glue goop some people use as filler, or maybe two-stage Bondo-type stuff and try it again. Like I said before, I hope you bring this to NNL, regardless of its stage of completion. Charlie Larkin
  13. Looking good. I'll look forward to seeing this in a couple of weeks. Charlie Larkin
  14. I more-or-less agree. Both ways look good for a reason. Blackwalls suggest a real budget-basement special, and that's very in keeping with a Ford Custom. Whitewalls suggest someone on a budget who still likes something that looks nice, but has to watch the outgo. Charlie Larkin
  15. Then she complains about water retention..... For the last twenty years I've known her, I've been trying to get her to make the connection.I cook with very little salt myself, don't really like and we have trouble with blood pressure, and the fact that there's already plenty of salt in most canned foods, anyway. For whatever reason, she never complains that I don't add salt, and she never does when I make something. Then again, she didn't realize she lived on a state highway. Don't get me wrong, I love her to death, and she's brilliant in her own way (BA and two MA/MFA in English,) but sometimes with her, common sense takes leave. Charlie Larkin
  16. Oh...I should've clarified. That's Shrewsbury, Ma., a suburb of Worcester- next town over, actually. That's called the Central Mass. Processing & Distribution Center. HUGE plant. Charlie Larkin
  17. White glue assembly or not, that looks really good together. Charlie Larkin
  18. That's cool. I do like the Cracker-Boxes. Wish I had a little more money, someplace to put it, and a CDL. Charlie Larkin
  19. Sits a bit low to my eye, but the build quality otherwise is outstanding, as it always is with your builds. Very nice photography, too. Charlie Larkin
  20. If this is real....seriously, hope you're feeling better soon, and your doctor sounds like he's on the ball! If this was April Fool's a few days late....boy did I get a good laugh out of the last few lines! Charlie Larkin
  21. Nice job on the weathered paint. How did you do it? Charlie Larkin
  22. Nikki, You are embarking on a long, arduous road. Having friends who have had similar problems, I understand what you're going through and hope for nothing less than success. Model building is a great way to help pass the time in place of those other pursuits. Learn one step at a time, and do your best. Nobody asks for more, nor should you be expected to deliver more than that. With each build, you will improve. See if there's a club near you. Having some other people around for hobby and moral support is critical to success in either of these endeavours. Welcome, and questions are expected. Share some pictures, too, please. Charlie Larkin
  23. Beautiful! I've been getting a whole raft of those calls, too, and a whole bunch of other ones lately. I think the do-not-call list may need to be re-registered. Charlie Larkin
  24. Newark is the city you go into on I-80 leaving NYC, isn't it? I mean, it's not THAT far, yet with today's mail..... One of my friends (who, ironic to this, lives in Brooklyn now,) has a sister that works at the mail processing plant in Shrewsbury. Oh the stories of how one mess-up after another. It really is a wonder the mail works as well as it does, before and after computers. Charlie Larkin
