  1. Customman was having some trouble getting his pictures to upload, so I volunteered to do one for him. This is his representation of an early 1970s Datsun 240Z. I must say, George, you did a REALLY nice job with this. I wish I could lay claim to this beautiful piece of work. Charlie Larkin
  2. And for us normal folk.... 10-36: Correct time 10-37: (Investigate) suspicious vehicle 10-99: Wanted/stolen indicated 10-51: Wrecker needed. Code 3: lights/siren on. 10-80: Chase in progress. On the happy side, very nice work, Nick. Charlie Larkin
  3. Very interesting, Tony. I'll enjoy watching this one come together, too. Charlie Larkin
  4. Captured the essence of the engine???? Based on the prototype pictures, you nailed it! Give yourself more credit! Wow.....I feel wholly inadequate now. Charlie Larkin
  5. Your blade shattered like that??? I'd return it to Revell along with my lawyer's phone number. That's way too close for comfort! Glad to see you're okay, though. Just do be careful and don't apply too much pressure. Charlie Larkin
  6. Regarding the title, Mike, it does beg the question.... Still get much in the way of the Uncle Jesse-type old farmers out your way like they're used to be? Charlie Larkin
  7. Second the motion. Charlie Larkin
  8. Hmmm....maybe I should've actually watched the video....oh well. I like The Byrds, too. When I was a kid, my parents didn't let me near "pop' music of the 80s/early 90s, so I grew up on a steady diet of jazz, classical, swing and Oldies 103.3 in Boston, as well as Armenian and other assorted Middle Eastern music (most of which I still don't like....shh, don't my mom.) Here's the corrected video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WH6UnvSlahc Charlie Larkin
  9. That's okay, Ed, if I can figure out how to hack up stuff and have it come out right, one other future move (and one I hope Revell has the stones enough to pull off) would be a Vista Cruiser! If they REALLY want to be bold, a standard F-85 or Cutlass wagon would be cool, too, and definitely unexpected, although converting one from a Vista wouldn't be too tough (four-inch shorter wheelbase, similar length reduction, and the flatter roof.) Charlie Larkin
  10. Go, Igor, I need more parts! Or, more specifically.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HofoK_QQxGc Charlie Larkin
  11. More speciffically, Harry.... Just sayin'.... For the record for other posts: Yeah, I'd go to $20-25 for the Brat, just for the weird/cool/neat facotor. What do you do with 20 '59 Impalas? Why drive them in rotation, of course! (Except during the winter.) Charlie Larkin
  12. I'd like to see the formal-roof car, too. I much prefer it over the fastback (not that I dislike that,) but it would be nice to have a model I want to build without having to hack up other cars to do it. Charlie Larkin
  13. Very nicely done. What do you use for the green? Charlie Larkin
  14. Now that is truly depressing and sad. Embarasseed for something that's enjoyable and harmless? Sounds like you did it as much out of enjoyment as you did to take your mind off her! Charlie Larkin
  15. Your car is a Caprice Classic Brougham, which would never have been used for police service, as that was the nice trim. I imagine, though, some municipalities might have used one as the "limo" for the mayor or other officials to use on official business. The paint code will be located on either the radiator core support (not normal on a B-body) or up on the firewall. A simple paint job will make that car look ten times better. Charlie Larkin
  16. And here in the wonderful far west suburbs of Boston....not that much different. Metro-West.... I'm in Marlborough. Charlie Larkin
  17. They can restore that??? Wow. If that's true, it's absolutely a double miracle; the first being everyone got out alive and with at most, some minor burns, scratches and bruises from what I heard. Talking with so many of my younger classmates, and my students when I was teaching, that so few of the younger generation have an appreciation for these machines or for the men that flew them. The lack of appreciation for the machine, I suspect, comes from it not being "techie" enough or some video game comes to life. The lack of respect for my grandfather and his comrades- well, that just comes with their lack of respect in general. Charlie Larkin
  18. Looking good. Charlie Larkin
  19. Tony, I'm really enjoying watching these builds come along. I look forward to each of them. Charlie Larkin
  20. More, more, more! Those look great, Tony. Charlie Larkin
  21. Nice to see something different, and nicely done, too. Charlie Larkin
  22. I've used the Color Place flat black, and it works well over primer. VHT makes a very nice semi-gloss black, which you can get at auto parts stores. I haven't used it personally, but have seen it used, and it looks really nice. Otherwise, I generally don't use the big-can paints, except for Dupli-Color/Plasti-Kote. Charlie Larkin
  23. Adam, that came out beautifully. The two-tone green with the brown interior looks really nice. The whole project comes right together. Really great work. Charlie Larkin
  24. Power steering first became available on Chevys in 1953 or '54. As to the placement of the pump....I had wondered about that, myself. Charlie Larkin
  25. Thank you for a very badly needed laugh and reality check! Charlie Larkin
