  1. this one was molded white, so it was just a prim and paint. I'v never used the future stuff. when I build a molded red kit I use a aluminum spray paint (wal-mart brand) to seal plastic then get to work like its a white kit. (the aluminum paint lays out thin and covers very good).
  2. this is the box stock I built along with my last custom. came out fair and thought you might like to look. hope you like I didn't start wireing motors till after she was done and decided not to pop her apart.
  3. thanks guys. was planing a two tone with the tamiya spray. bottom in silver leaf and mica red on top of body line including the removable top. light tan on the upholstery with the red dash. what do ya think?
  4. thanks dude. glad you like. noticed your in AZ. what town? anyway glad you like and hope I can throw a few more curve balls before its done.
  5. with the wagon now a panel, what about some lines from the front rocker (behind the front wheel) going back and up into the roof line.(no crazy colors) different shades of blue . then spray the transparent red on top. ghost stile. just a thought.
  6. man mock up has been a real deal on this kit. IT DON'T FIT RIGHT! I have pulled off the things I wanted to try, the trunk opens(thank god) even got frogy and tilted the front. and you already have heard about the motor. I'v had to walk away a few times so i didn't have wall kill, but I'm having a blast on this thing. anyway here are some pictures.
  7. welcome to the hobby. I have sprayed models without primer and the paint has a marbeling effect to it . definatly primer. the details will still be there.(several light coats is the trick) the colors are cool I'm using both colors on a build now. the mica red is a gloss matalic color might recommend a flat red for the upholstery. good luck
  8. man thats blue! stance is on the money. I'm even diggen the motor screamin out the top(not usually my thing) , but that paint needs more pop to pull all that other stuff together(looks good) just needs that GET OUT OF MY WAY! factor. can't wait to see whats up next.
  9. hay dude ,you ever think about painting in a well ventalated area, or did ya miss that part on the can. hahahahahahaha
  10. had to go to NC. for the thanksgiving thing. really wanted to build but, decided to leave the tools at home and actually hang with the family. not a total bust though, stopped at the hobby lobby(don't have em here in SC.) and picked up some testors lacquer (again not in Charleston) and the next project. 07 mustang shelby 500. but now I'm back on the bench and havin fun. (ROLL CAGES SUCK!)
  11. things are starting to come together. got the body in primer tonight also, hope to drop some color on it this weekend.
  12. hay clay, what happened to the strech? I see trucks cut all apart then one BRIGHT standard cab. did I miss somthing?
  13. thay aren't flames bro tha are like an old school scallop. ,but if you want you can have.
  14. and the two meet each other. doind wires on a motor is alot better with a drill bit
  15. Dude your too much. you know I just noticed your in SC. me to I'm over in charleston. happy holidays to ya...
  16. Dude you seem pritty steamed about this and for that I'm sorry ,but this build is showing promis.(its more my stile) but you should build what you like ,cause if not you will eventually stop building, and that my friend would be a waist of tallent! hopefully you can enjoy this build and start mixing it up with multipal styles . I think that is what progression is all about. everyone has an openion and a right to voice it ,but you have the right to ignore it. so roll on brother and be true to yourself.
  17. pretty wild idea. are you going to bring the front down a bit?
  18. sorry ,can't draw, but this is what is going through the brain on paint. what do you think? bottom in gunmetal gray stripe in mica red and top in light silver.
  19. Buy one of thost pre lit trees. up and bright in 15 min. then back to the workbench. hahahahaha
  20. thanks raul that helps alot.
  21. scrappy, I hope to be able to put out a build like you . still can't beleave the details. and how do you get that finish on the dash?
  22. where are you buying the laquar testers? all I got around me is a hobbie town and thay don't have it, Im running out of colors to choose from in tamiya. I'd like to try the testers.
  23. dude Im really diggen your signature. the ranchero has a wicked paint going on. what do you think about the colors on the ranchero layed out in the tradetional 55 pattern with the grays and the traditional molding line replaced with a sort of tribal like red stripe (looking traditional but with more sweep than straight)?
  24. hay boss know the deal with time against you. I don't mean to be impatiant ,but this built has me interested ps. happy to hear about the finger.
  25. hay mike I'v been stairing at that myself. it dosen't look so high untill you see the picture, I will definatly take out a little but I dont want to get into the back glass. (the top will be painted to match ,but will be removable) so fit is critical. thanks for the input and please give more, somtimes I just dont see the whole picture, you knoe how it is.
