  1. Wow, that is looking super cool.
  2. Derrick, you know your kits well. Yes sir, I could not believe what a perfect fit this thing is once you cut it . . . THANK YOU!
  3. Remember the best way to rust is to look at reference pictures of real subject matter and note where the rust is most prevalent. It is clear you are having a great time.
  4. Great job.
  5. Ryan, nice work. I love the chipping around posts. Great work. Of course, I think this kind of build can (and is) addictive. LONG LIVE RUST!
  6. Beautiful! It's turning out great.
  7. JIM is right! Once you build that 49 Merc you will be a STYRENE ADDICT for which there is no cure, for which there is no turning back. Look what it's done to me!
  8. Eyeball VS eyeball:
  9. Can anyone guess where the grill is from? I still have to add a couple of more wires out of those carb stacks . . . I think the mud is going to bring the whole build together!
  10. The chassis, the interior, and the body are not glue together and won't be. I like to take things apart and look at them . . . LOL. But some of these shots show the body sitting a bit forward, but trust me it sits just right . . . .
  11. All right, the body is done sans the mud . . . I added a few interesting decals just to spice it up . . . Here's a mud-level perspective shot. LOL!
  12. Good looking tires. Keep it going, Ira.
  13. Thanks, Mike. There will be more progress very soon.
  14. Well, we'll see how the mudding goes. I got the body finished less the mud, so stay tuned in, and happy THANKSGIVING to everyone!
  15. LOL, okay, maybe just a little more than a little.
  16. Folks, I started a thread over in the 1:1 Reference Picture section in hopes that everyone can post ideas and eye candy of ways we can build this kit. Enjoy the sights and contribute. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66771
  17. Jacen, it's going to have a little bit of mud, I am trying to keep it subtle. I hope. I think.
  18. I know, I keep drooling over it, it'd be great to slam one of these beauties in scale. Oh yes.
  19. Thank you, either way you build this kit, the 50 Chevy, you win. It's such a marvelous kit.
  20. Now that I've had a few hours to study this kit all I can say I am very excited about the prospects in terms of the versatility of this kit. I can already see a gasser, a couple of stock builds, one shiny, one rusty . . . and perhaps a conversion. Something unexpected with big meats in the back.
  21. Oh, Greg, that's a great idea . . . I just have to make some right diameter springs and do the eyeballs . . . THAT would look cool. Thank you.
  22. LOL, you guys just keep making my day. It's coming, we are foiling next, and then the decals, and then final assembly with a finish of well spattered muds in some of the edges of the rocker panels. Shiny with some mud. Yes, that's what the doctor called for. Stay tuned in.
  23. Thanks, Bill, now it's been confirmed that this might not be EYEGORE's eyeball but Jim S's. LOL!
  24. Here it is double-topless: Unfortunately this is what happened when I showed EYEGORE the progress so far:
  25. Here are a few more:
