  1. Here are a few more, but these pictures really get me excited about finishing this one . . . I think the roll bars are way too bright and shiny . . . I'll tone them down soon . . .
  2. The wheels and all the components on the frame are glued down with two part epoxy for that extra strength hold. This is the first time in a long time I hold off until the end to paint the body . . . One final round of mocking just to make sure everything is going to fit just fine:
  3. The beast is coming together nicely . . . WILLYS GONE WILD: Lots to do still, lots of airbrushing left . . . The engine is almost done too . . .
  4. With this kit of Rust Effects from AK-INTERACTIVE you get all the rusting you would ever want . . . The fram is coming along . . . in the usual manner . . . The paint goes on thin, great coverage, and the most important part is that it adheres very well . . . which is perfect for the rough and wet salting process.
  5. True, those are some big wheels . . . Big & Wild!
  6. All that chrome inside the wheel is going to get a healthy spattering of mud . . . In the meantime, I sprayed all the parts with primer . . . I like to use black primer for all the chassis and interior components . . . I got the body pretty smooth too . . . ready for paint . . .
  7. I knew that the most important part of this build if I wanted to capture the right look were the tires, so I turned my attention to them . . . I worked on them one whole day using AK-INTERACTIVE pigments and paints . . . The most disconcerting thing about working with pigments and paints is that you have to wait for them to dry. Before then you work mostly holding your breath . . . the colors go on darker when they are wet, and then they lighten up once dry . . . they gave the tires the right chalky and flaky look to the mud. I still have to do the final spattering once I have a rolling chassis.
  8. Yeah, man, it gives a totally different look, plus this way I don't have to mess around painting them. This way it's a clean finish. Stay tuned in I am making a whole lot of progress. I've been at it since early this morning.
  9. Try a rootbeer float with condensed milk and some vanilla ice cream, that should put you over the 6000 calorie mark, enough energy to see you through our next 3 builds. Hey, no sleeping during this build. Get to the bench, it's the Sunday before the Big Bird lands on the table.
  10. Very cool so far, please keep going.
  11. Cool build in progress. Thanks for the great tip, Mr. B.
  12. Love the name, and I think it's going to be a great build. Keep it going. Doo that voo doo hoo doo you doo so well.
  13. Thanks, my friends, I am working at trying to get the engine finished so that I can move on to the chassis. Stay tuned in for more.
  14. Getting the engine done, it's going to be finished tomorrow so that I can turn my attention to the chassis and a few other details like the radiator and the moon tank . . . Lots of watch parts and some after market parts as well . . .
  15. While I was getting the parts in primer, I worked on weathering and muddying up the wheels. I still have to tweak them but they are looking nice and road weary . . . Also got the roll cage ready . . . the interior right now is in flat black, but I think it is going to be tan with some green accents . . . .
  16. Great color, wonderful details. This builds has been pure eye candy.
  17. Looking forward to seeing more of this one.

  23. Making progress on the paint. The engine parts are painted. While they dry, I am working on the chassis, getting that painted. All the parts have been primered. This build is moving along. No pictures yet, but soon . . . thanks to everyone for the wonderful comments and for staying tuned in.
  24. Looking great. Wow. All the great details really pay off.
  25. Ira, great mind think alike (or maybe too-far-gone minds think alike!). LOL. I am ding my 41 Willys like this, green and shiny and mud-bathed. Great inspiration, chap. Cheers, DC
