  1. Tom, don't feel bad. Is there anything we can do to help get you back to the bench? Let me know and I will send over a couple of kits, etc . . . I hope you get reimbursed pronto so you can get started. But you know I had that trouble early on and then I learned quickly how to get everyone's attention. All you need is a couple of little things out of the closet, some props, and VOILA! They will notice you! See? Of course not all publicity is GOOD publicity. LOL!
  2. Folks, it gives me great pleasure to welcome Dave Parker, a wonderful model builder, photographer, and lover of all things cars from Tracy, California to the forum. Dave is one cool cat, and he sure loves building some nice models, which I know he will share with us. Here's his website where you can check out some of his work: http://www.daveparker.com/ We are looking forward to seeing a lot of new eye candy, my friend. Cheers, Doctor Cranky.
  3. Mr. Winfield is a class act from all the accounts I've heard and read about.
  4. This thread is off to a great start.
  5. I just hope most of these master craftsmen are passing down their craft to another generation, although in the next fifty years or so there might not be anything left on the planet to restore. Between the old metal disappearing and the fact that good looking cars are extinct, well . . . it might just be a dying art form like a few others I can think of.
  6. Oooh, I like those ghosted flames against the black.
  7. Looking forward to seeing this one come together, my friend. It's going to be a stand out model.
  8. You've got the rusty styrene fever. LOL. I like it. That engine bay looks really good. You got a good texture to the paint and you've pock-marked enough rust here and there showing through. Remember you can use weathering powders and or pigments and put a few rust streaks here and there for more visual interest. Thank you for sharing and Doctor Cranky is delighted you gave LONG LIVE RUST a try. Cheers, DC
  9. It's all coming together into another beautiful model. Love the color. Yellow is hard to do and you've done a great job.
  10. That's one nice looking model. I like it.
  11. The results are always nice. This stuff really works.
  12. Bruce, I think what you are describing will probably be the norm with this one. I keep thinking it's the fuselage of a plane with something else (what, who knows?) on the side. That weird grill thing joins the two disparate parts and of course the headlights look so 53 Corvette.
  13. Wow, that show is coming up again. Cool, make sure to snap some photos of the eye candy on the tables, please.
  14. Sometimes you see something you don't have to look at twice to know that you like it. Here's an example of where design doesn't necessarily please the eye right away, but you know there's something different and beautiful about this. If anybody knows what type of vehicle this is, chime in. Also, many of us (I guess we are an older crowd now) have been lamenting the death of automobile design since the early 70s. I have hopes that there will be a group of designers, getting smaller by the minute, who will always sacrifice everything for the sake of design, as I think it should be.
  15. Interesting. More, please.
  16. Are you slacking again? Come on, bring on the eye candy. Muahahahahaha!
  17. Nice work, nice work. This is one of those classic threads.
  18. Thanks for the kind words, my friend. Her surgery is now in the mid October so I will keep everyone posted. In the mean time, great work. I am copying a lot of these new builds for the next TZH Caravan video update. Stay tuned in and keep having fun.
  19. He put in 1220 hours.
  20. Roger, that looks very cool. I like it.
  21. ATTENTION PLEASE: Note that the due date for the models to be completed has been pushed up to January. This will give everyone time to finish one, two, or start a third project. I am also postponing the photo op with the mail in models because Momma Cranky (who is 76) is having surgery next month and I have to be there for her. The builds will continue though, so Gen. EYEGORE says "As you were!"
  22. NOTE: About how "naked" your naked styrene should be, and this includes using clear coats. I would say if you are sealing in decals that is fine, but normally, I think the trick behind this CPB is to leave the styrene (the body only) in the raw but POLISHED, BUFFED, scrubbed with NOVUS type products, which is fine.
  23. Sure, Mike, eye candy is eye candy. By all means. Joe, both, you can post previous finished builds, and you can also do in progress. That's fine.
  24. Nice, I am liking it.
