  1. John, when I move to your neighborhood and become your neighbor I will learn from watching you. Thanks for the kind words, amigo.
  2. Thanks, B. Yes, this one has decided to stay on this side of existence. I guess it wants to live. LOL. Thanks for chiming in with the kind words. Best, V
  3. Thanks, D. Yeah, no clear, just what the color brings. That's enamel for you.
  4. Thank you, Greg. It is and it's not difficult to work with it when it comes to getting it in and around the panel lines, etc . . .
  5. Mike, this one has fought me hard most of the way, but you figure by now I would be used to the stress of doing shiny. I actually have learned to enjoy it. It also helps to have a few other projects on the bench.
  6. I still have to wire a few more things . . . this is one of the most detailed engines I've ever built, and I like it . . . like it, YOU HEAR THAT OLD MAN? Stay tuned in . . . for more . . . from the Lab-RAT-ory!
  7. Then back to the engine . . .
  8. More progress, slow but deliberate . . . Working on detailing the interior . . .
  9. Ah sweet enamel syrup. Love it!
  10. You can see several aftermarket parts here but also plenty of my favorites parts: WATCH PARTS.
  11. Working on the engine, the final details . . . so much to do, but I no longer feel like this build is in any kind of danger. I got a blemish on the valve cover on this side, but I have found a perfect way of fixing it, you'll see it in the next round of pictures . . .
  12. All right, this one is getting close to the mountain top: Got the body sanded, buffed, and polished. I really love this color . . .
  13. Glenn, this is along the lines of what I was thinking too.
  14. Gorgeous color and the shine is superb.
  15. Both of them are looking real good.
  16. There goes more money, more money, more money . . . which is fine as long as they keep bringing out new quality products.
  17. Good to see you making such excellent progress. I'd love to see the body on those wheels, see how low it is now riding.
  18. Nice, I like these. A few words about styrene a day keeps the doctor happy!
  19. Beautiful model, congratulations. These 39 Chevys look great in bright colors. Great job.
  20. Lordy, you folks are digging up some fine engines and fine early Fords. Shiny or not, they are cool.
  21. The fact that you know where all of these things go and run to is impressive enough for me but also that when you are done it looks like a version of the real thing but in scale. I think you are a magician, John. Pure and simple.
  22. Thanks, Tyrone. More coming soon. I love the way the engine is turning out. Between the aftermarket parts and some watch parts gizmology, this one looks pretty cool.
  23. I don't know, I sort of like the engine, but perhaps not for this car.
  24. Mike, so I guess you are a minimalist at heart! LOL.
  25. Mike, I thought they were sink marks too and I sanded them down a bit, but they are not. At least not after the paint went on and leveled everything out. I will have some progress pics shortly. The color is a combination of burgundy and stop light red. That's it. I love this color too and I've spoken to Donn about it. I think I would love to turn it into a (more orange) root beer color.
