  1. what will get off metallic paints? Iv'e got a body with a bad metallic pint job on it taht desperatley needs to be saved. Thanks,Jeff.
  2. Exactly what david said, i found it over by the automotive stuff, like where the body filler and stuff is. It really works wonders.
  3. If i were you i would go talk to MR. 1/16th in the big model forum, heres a link. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showforum=5 He does really good work, and pretty much makes everything himself, plus he knows where to get 1/16th stuff. Jeff.
  4. welcome back kevin, are you going to start posting on layitlow as well?
  5. North central thank you very much It just sounds odd to say YOU ALL.lol Iv'e said yal'l since i could talk!
  6. Sweet thanks. Ill have to check on the kyle petty car(as to what the original was) and get back to you, i believe the original was a two door, theres not enough room for four doors, not unless all the doors were as big as teh back doors on a extended cab truck
  7. I saw this over on layitlow, glad to see its still gonna be built! Jeff.
  8. Thats about a 150mm spool isnt it?
  9. why does that sound familiar??
  10. I finally broke and went and bought a jug of prurple power, got home threw a body in and let it sit over night, i was amazed when all i had to do was run it under some water and the paint just fell off! I took a small video of it removing some of the body filler( i was really disapointed it didnt take the filler off) in little speckles. and ill post a picture or two for all the "noobies" ,as they like to call themselves, so they can see what we use(when i first heard about it i had no clue what ya'll were talking about ) Just thought id share my moment of amazment with yall.lol Jeff.
  11. iv'e read this entire thread(almost) and why not let the guy enter his little car? he could fillin the door lines for the rear doors? I'm doing this on a expedition im building.
  12. Thats what i was going to ask! They look so real!
  13. This sounds like fun! is it okay if i join? All i have is an elky atm though, unless your willing to allow a NO DOOR peak antifreeze kyle petty nascar thats been prostreeted in Ill have the elky probably next week if youll allow that to enter. Model year is 79', which can easily be modified ot a later year if needed. Thanks,Jeff. EDIT: i jsut rememmbered, i do have whats left of an 84 vette, and i have a zr-1 c4 also(i think its an 89')
  14. Just cut the fenders only, that looks like teh best way to do it. Imagine your taking them off a real car, thatswhat i do when building. Models work just like the big stuff, only its twenty five times smaller
  15. If you could find the peterbuilt model number(like the model of the truck) i could narrow it down for you, now go build it
  16. also with a 67' it will have a more agressive slant on the roof to bed line(where the backwindow goes) this is from that wierd transition into the 70's.
  17. Yep, its what the title said, and its what came up when we ran the vin# 65's and 67's look alike but have subtle differences, on a 65' the nose will slant down and back, where as on a 67'l it will come to a point at about even with the belt line. My uncle has a 67' that hes restoring is why i know this
  18. I believe it to be a swb.I could be wrong though, iv'e never had one of these kits before.
  19. what are those wheels from?!?! they would be perfect for a replica im doing of my elky! Thank,Jeff
  20. Pontiac actually did make a el camino, back in the late 60's and they were going to make another one a year or tow ago then they fell through. I used to have pictures, but my computer crashed not to long ago along with my hard drive. For the elky conversion it is a pretty straight forward transformation. Just cut behind the fenders(in front of the doors) on both cars, then glue the chevelle fenders on the elky. A little known fact, The chevelles and el caminos of the mid to late sixties used the smae front fenders,hood,bumper,etc.. as each other, then in the early 80's when they quit making the chevelle, it switched over to the monte carlo. you ever see the choo choo elky? amt makes a kit of it i believe(its the one with the slant nose, the 86' which is the last year for the elky) it makes a nice shelf model. I learned this because iv'e had two el caminos ive' had to do front end repair to. Me and my dads 65' when we got it, it looked the smae when we sold it, except we pulled the small block and th 350 out of it. We sold it because under the vinyl top, it was rusted through, the car would either need a transplant or to be made into a roadster. Then my 80' elky my g-ma gave to me. It had quite a bit of work done to it, a gm performance 305 crate circa 99', lowering springs, faded paint, ripped interior,etc...lol It would haul ass, and it had a strong rear end in it. i ended up sliding into a telephone pole and screwing up the front end really bad, some guy bought it from me for the engine and trans. I do miss it Heres another little car you just dont see everyday, my 83' datsun(by nissan, it was thier transition year) 280zx turbo, i was planning a v8 swap then discovered a huge rust hole in the firewall so it sold for parts, again to a guy for the engine. and heres "the family" minus my truck i had at the time, the black silvey in the first picture with the basketball hoop in the back. Happy motoring,Jeff
  21. I picked some up from lowes the other day that is in perfect scale for a three inch exhaust, iv'e also seen it at home depot, they usually have it by all the angle iron and stuff in little bins. I know for a fact that hobby lobby and micheals carrys it, they have all sorts of sizes as well, and its a little cheaper. And no problem, thats what were all here for Jeff.
  22. Im painting a 1970 Gitane Tour de France(a bicycle, its another one of my hobbies) with said paint, i started with clean bare metal, and sprayed the paint on without primer, heres what i got. it does take a little bit ot dry, and let it sit for a day or so to let the smell go away. Also make sure you shake the can really well so you get all the flakes off the bottom, or else youll just be spraying a flat paint. Good luck, Jeff
  23. Im debating on buying and building a 79' el camino from revell. Its teh one wiht the lowrider on it and it says 3n1. anybody build this kit before? I'd like to get some feedback on it, what really drew me to it is i used to have an 80' elky(all elkys looked the same from 78' to 86' when they stopped making them) and it would be cool to build a replica of it and give it to my grandma(she gave me the car) and it has a removeable camper which is pretty sweet! Thanks,Jeff.
  24. for an exhaust you could use either brass rod or aluminum rod or something like that. Looking forward to more progress
