Astrovette poll
Corvette.Jeff replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I voted restore, but if you wanted to customize it a bit you could get rid of the sport bar, to me it sits to high up with that lower windshiled and side windows. It would much more pleasing to the eye if it wer gone, the windshield and windows would flow wiht the body instead of stopping at the sport bar and letting the body "fall". I hope you arent painting it white again, you can barely see any detail! Of course, this is just my personall opinion -
Anyone know a good Online store?
Corvette.Jeff replied to Patrick2005's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I use rpp hobby alot, they ship really fast as well, if you order something monday, youll get it by at least thursday. -
That is very true. I have ruined bodys in the past when using to much bondo, its best to glue the piece on first, then let it dry for at least a day, then sand down the glue and plastic, then apply very thin coats of putty. For my type of stuff, big or small, i use bondo brand glazing putty. Its alot easier to use than the two part stuff. you can litteraly take it out of the package and use it when you get home, as to where with two part puttys you have to mix it just right, usually about an inch line of hardner to a golfball size of putty. Then you also have to worrie about the temerature of your state when using any type of putty, its best to leave it in your bathroom with the fan on, you can also use this method for letting paints on bodies to dry! It all comes down to preference though, hte old school guys will tell you the two part for everything, the mid school guys will tell you the two part stuff for big jobs, and the glazing putty for the small jobs, and some people just dont like using putty at all. Make sure your in a well ventillated room when using putty though! Jeff.

Finally a big model for me

heres the bike, -
Had to dig this one up to put in some more projects Heres the newest addition to the bench, a 26' ford SD Sorry for the lousy camera work, i really didnt feel like editing any pictures today... Theres still some more body work to be done, all iv'e done so far is a small top chop(about 3-5 scale inches) deleted the b pillar(much cleaner look imo) and smooth some stuff out. Next is a small update on the 84' corvette. Thats not the final color, iv'e succesfully attatched the hood scoop on, just a little more sanding is needed, need to soak the body and the interior card in the "purple pond" and then its almost done. Heres the newest project, a cale yarbrough nascar street version. The reason i started this one is cale's cousin gene actually lives next door to me, so after i finish it i plan to ask his cousin if he could get cale to autograph it for me to add to my collection. Heres my last two projects pictured together. The ducatti you can follow in the big boyz forum, the orange 'vette is a little rag top to hard top project i have going on.

But as luck would have it it didnt come with instuctions(used, opened and started kit) now it has all hte pices to the frame to the best of my knowledge, but how does it go together? i really dont feel like scratching a frame, but can if needed. any help is apreciated as always. Thanks,Jeff.

Corvette.Jeff replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
heres a few i'd love to have, even if i just gawked at them forever.. 1982 dodge d100 long bed pickup(my dads truck, ive always wanted to slam it to the ground ) 1970's dodge panel van(my papa's old van i spent most of my childhood in that van) jeep waganer a lhd skyline. 75' datsun 510 station wagon more old school caddilacs, lincolns, and cars like that. I'd really like to see a 1:4 scale 84' corvette though I'd really really like ot see a truck like the one in my avater, a nice cheyenne long bed, my papa used to have on of those to. -

Your Very First Real Car
Corvette.Jeff replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think most of you here know my first car 1984 chevy corvette completley stock except for a stage two shift kit and the sound system. Seriously considering switching from the cross fire injection to a carb'd setup to get about 400 h.p. out of it. -
Corvette spaceframe chassies wip.
Corvette.Jeff replied to prostockmodeler's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hey man, this sounds like a cool project, but thats a c5 chassis not a c6. Heres a few things that tell me it is, the mufflers, the early series lsx engine(possibly an ls1) the upper rear a-arms, and the skinny back disk brakes Also keep in mind that those are cutaway pictures, most of those holes will dissapear on a real frame your more brave that i though this is gonna be sweet when its done -

What do you drive?
Corvette.Jeff replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I saw some bikes on here so i thought i'd post mine. The ten speed is a 75' gicante' TdF with mostly shimano components a stronglight crank and sprocket, stronglight headset, Sr stem and handlebars, bontrager speed tires and tubes, and araya wheels. The bmx a friend gave to me after we built our twelfth bike together, i have no clue about anything on it, just that it weighs 25 pounds -
I dont know if ya'll have noticed or not but iv'e been gone for a bit been busy trying to get the 'vette in a shop, and she's finally going in oct. 4th Sorry i havent even checked in ina little while though, iv'e also been trying to get back into freestyle bmx like i used to be. I haven't even touched a model in a few weeks Oh and to anyone who's had a b-day while i was gone happy late b-day

10 More stitches
Corvette.Jeff replied to envious8420's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
dang, i hope you get all the movement back in your hand. I still cant bend my middle finger all the way like i should be able to, and sometimes either my index finger or the other one on the other side of the middle one will bend with it. -
I've been working on a little chevy s10 for a bit now, well last night i had the great idea to try to fit 69' camaro light bezels into the s10 grill, it worked fine when i used a drill bit to round out teh holes for the light bezzels, but as soon as i hit the holes with a small sandpaper stick(not the discs but he long skinny ones) the bondo got superheated(my dremel was on one!) adn the bondo started cracking, so i quit with that and tryed to sand it down a bit with 160, and the bumper broke off in my hand! and then the side skirts broke off, so it looks like i put a channleing job on it! Just be warned to not use to much filler folks! we can tend to get a little carried away with customizing these models
-
some people will agree with me on this one, if your into building older kits(ie, theyr'e old enough to be antiques) amt leaves something to be desired as far as quality goes. I've been building revell since i was a little kid and its always been top notch! the newer amt is alright though
-
That looks good! Are you on any corvette forums?

Paint color identification
Corvette.Jeff replied to loudcherokee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It looks like they used a white primer(yes they make that for cars ) then maybe a light silver as a base, then a couple of very light coats of lime, thats just my guess though -
