Actually, Harry couldn't grasp that kids like accomplishment, hence Build and play. Emphasis on building. Play secondary. To attract kids, need current stuff. 2015 Mustang awesome, as is 2015 C7 (tba). However, the R8 is imminently due to be replaced, as is another B&P. The "new" Raptor is 2010-2011 generation, which should get to us about the time the new alloy 2015 Raptor arrives. And the Crown Vic, one done to death, as a new tool snap? Really? And Dave V has said what many have, errors are errors. It isn't a rant. It is wrong. Not much reason for details that are huge to be wrong. QC in dimensional/appearance should be Job 1. ALWAYS. It's a model company, not a "looks good to me", or "Meh, they'll buy it" company. So Tom, it's more of "smelling someone else's farts instead of nice fresh styrene when you open a box". Not my problem, until I buy a kit that needs more work than if I just converted one on my own. 57 BelAir Cvt. I bought it as I wanted one, even after I canceled order based on screwed up doorsill. It was warped too. So I bought a kit with known flaws I decided to fix, and was faced with more hours I could spend elsewhere. Surprise and delight. That's what a modeler wants, a movie goer wants, etc. It's entertainment. When it ceases to be so, and turns into work, I'm out. Life's far too short.

What are your favorite Show Cars ?

Don't forget same kit with Paddy Wagon variant. Which is the 3rd Paddy Wagon kit extant. The Caspers was my favorite, and real, though it had King T chassis which was incorrect to the original. I do wonder of they'll be able to pull bits back together, as King T Wild Dream were quite comprehensibly robbed. and distributed amongst at least 6-7 other kits. I've got a mint kit, and an in-progress mint with about 7-8 pieces from other iterations of the kit, plus the MPC individually boxed kits of the 2 cars. Those 2 and the XR-6 are the best models of the Oakland GNRS winners, amazing they were done within very short times of the cars actual wins. No CAD, nothing but slide rules, tool makers, and art. IMO some of the best kits ever done of contemporary street rods ever. Historic.

I'd be really surprised if the King T Wild Dream came back. Lots of King T chassis parts exist in Fire Truck (Tognotti), others issued over years, but the T fenders seem to have had details removed over years. Chassis was under the MPC Casper Paddy Wagon (not R-M) in late 60's and fenders and rb's altered then. Used under the Night Crawler too. The Wild Dream chassis is under the Ice Cream Truck, and I can't recall the other. Dave Van may remember. The XR-6 and the quad headlight setup for the 27 tub seem to be gone too. XR-6 was one issue, but no bits ever seen again. 27 T tub has been in lineup nearly continuously since. The 32 Ford Tudor body appeared once in '73 ish in Street rod series, but other bits never seen, I think the body was stock in the Willy's/32 custom kit, but I can't compare at moment. Still, I'd pop some more XR-6 and King T Wild Dream kits.

I wonder if R2 listens ?
keyser replied to w451973's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Agree completely. For those who are impaired: A person, corporate representative, or magazine contributor or customer shouldn't have to be subject to abuse while in this forum. Spelling that out in forum rules for the ludicrously literal should be moot if one has any idea how to relate in business, or life in general. Again, I agree. Yet aforementioned hecklers are passively endorsed by some here. Big difference in spotting problem and being incredulous that it went thru (57 Fury; 61 Impala; 67 442; various Cudas, Fox notchback, 57 BA convert to cover many manufacturers) versus "giving it to Moebius et al" to fix it. As is attacking people who see the problem as "negative" or taking personal umbrage. The dreaded "maroon letter" LOL Danno. Then there's the ones that diss anything they're not interested in, i.e. snap kits, as toys. Lets keep this hobby for the elite, small lunatic fringe here. Wait, what? "Calling a corporation an "idiot" may be silly... but it doesn't break any forum rules." Also, consider if someone calls MCM a bunch of idiots, that includes great guys like Gregg, Tim, a ton of contributors here, the staff that is just working their jobs there to pay bills, and even the moderators. That can't break those commandments. Geez, I hope it's spelled out that board members can't assault one another either.... Please note I saved a draft to repost if this one "mysterously disappears" -

Nice Brett. I didn't have one, assumed usual. Sounds like minimally more effort. Agree leaving rear alone, 1:1's seem to have a mean rake too, certainly Z28. Nice, Chuck! Brett's and yours convinced me to buy one for me and son. -

The money went to his children's heart charity http://www.cscf.org/. Carroll had had a heart transplant in '90 and a kidney transplant from his son in '96 when the meds preventing rejection of his heart killed his kidney. RIP Shel, ya did a lot of good for others. -

Just round file the tops of the axle holes a little, drops it down easy peasy. Try 2/3 height between tire and wheelwell, or a little less. -

Hey Harry, you deleted this. I'll repost intil you respond. You don't delete posts over and over that annoy people, but you delete mine calling you on it immediately. Petty little man. #getoffmylawn#shadesof1950s Maybe Revell and R2 can't wade thru the BS you let clutter up threads? You delete some posts you disagree with, but leave BS that MANY others complain about. You're the mod, Harry. I don't want the job, I know you'll offer. Do your job so people can read a thread, ANY thread, without same old dreck. Last count there are 7 threads with dreck in them, probably more, and you merely tell people to not click on it. You can delete individual posts, as you have mine. I don't care if you delete mine, you're petty. But when the board, which is a NICE board in spite of you, gets regular guys fed up, and you don't do your job, QUIT. It's a lousy front for a good magazine, and if YOU reread the rules you're not enforciing, it's obvious. -

Revell 4th Quarter new kit announcements
keyser replied to Brett Barrow's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Still in 2010? At that rate, we'll get the one below in 2020 or so. First pic of new aluminum Raptor posted 4 months ago. Should be here Jan/Feb 2015. http://www.autoblog.com/2014/05/07/next-ford-raptor-spotted-wearing-aluminum-skin/ -
Is Robin's head on Batman? Wait, that's Revell issue only... nevermind.

So a snap kit has 30-40 parts, but old annuals (for example 59 Galaxie convertible) had barely 25, and new "Build and Play" have 10-20 and are only toys? But annuals and non-snapkits are/were sold in toy departments, so using narrow logic of it's only a TOY, then many kits are toys? Also, if it's a toy car, it gets yanked out of the package and is playworthy. See Hotwheels, Pixar Cars, et al. Powerwheels require assembly but are rideable. Diecast cars from CMC, the Mints have hundreds of pieces, but they're already built, so guess they'd be toys? Since the 15 Mustang and 14 Vette are the 2 newest tools, have few pieces, no dispute over origins or concept, but aren't assembled, doesn't make them a box of parts, not play ready? What possibly could convert a box of parts into a toy? Hmmmmmm. Maybe input from end user. Which is called building. Hey, they're labeled Build and Play, what a coincidence. Since it's useless as it comes, it seems the BUILDING is the operative verb. Regardless of parts count. Just like old annuals, and Lindberg snap CV's are also play worthy. Only after building, unless you're one of those slow kids that pushes parts around on the carpet. So by definitions I've seen in this thread, these things are models, not toys. Hope they sell bejeebus out of them, and do more cars before they hit market or soonafter. Preferably <2 years on market, max. Toss in real decals too, maybe a couple factory custom parts, and we'll have same parts count as an old annual.

Don't forget Hazel and Bewitched always had awesome stuff. Ferrari 250 SWB California open headlight car either Hazel or Mr. Baxter won, 63 T-Bird Sports Roadster, other goodies. I'd forgotten about the Humber. 1st one I'd seen, had to hunt down what it was. Perry Mason-I remember the cars. Ray Milland played a bad guy and drove a nice Bentley Continental fastback IIRC. Perry had a Caddy IIRC. Awesome scenes in Vonnegut's Saughterhouse 5. Haven't seen it in ages, but a must see, and a great book. http://www.imcdb.org/movie_69280-Slaughterhouse-Five.html
