    Thanks again guys, much appreciated.
  3. I love seeing promos transformed into serious models and these are particularly well done!

Thanks so much for your kind comments everyone - posting here has become one of the nicest aspects of finishing a model. Bruce B. - for me a black wash in wires like these always looks like just that - a black wash. It seems to me to accentuate the limits of the molding process involved so I prefer to leave them. Same goes for chromed headlights - I haven't found a method yet to make them look better than if I just leave them (aside from drilling them out and replacing them, of course). Mike O. - the tyres are T540, molded from a Johan tyre, though not the one from this particular kit. Steve G. - great to see those pics from one of my all-time favourite movies - I've probably seen it 5 times. I still can't tell a 77 from a 78 or 79. The interior in this kit led me to believe it was a 77, until I noticed the number plates - 1979.
  6. Amazing model, great photography too!
  7. Really like this! Great concept and very well built.
  8. Very nicely done!
  9. Very nice!
  10. Excellent!
  11. Great looking combo! Specially like the colours on the Nomad and the foil is excellent.

I forgot to mention the Modelhaus tyres.
  13. Just finished this simple Johan kit. It's really just an unassembled promo in kit form but, being Johan, it represents its subject well. I used Gravity Paints Aston Martin Almond Green, topped with Tamiya TS13 clear, fine sanded and polished as usual. There are a couple of minor glitches in the paint but, thanks to my inability to take an in-focus photo, they don't show. The vinyl roof was done with Zero semi-gloss black, which went on very fuzzy, burying my foiled scripts for good. The answer was scripts and badges from Global Toy in China - very nice decals, though the badges are actually for later cars. The interior green is an airbrushed Zero mix, the wood done with Humbrol enamel. The mirrors come from the parts box. Hosted on FotkiHosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

I saw one of these for the first time in town yesterday, in a very dark grey - not sure I liked it that much. But your model is beautifully done!!!
  15. Thanks a lot, Jeremy. I hope to finish this one in the next few days before a family member comes to stay. I messed up the sun-roof glass and will leave it off. I also won't be doing poseable steering - it would expose the kit's inadequate inner fenders - so there won't be anything more of interest to show in this WIP. Look for the model in Under Glass soon.
  16. Great looking model - foil and scripts are very finely done.
  17. Great to watch a master craftsman at work!
  18. The engine looks really tasty - this is going to be a knockout model.
  19. Very nice work, Dominik - looks great in that colour.
  20. Great looking truck!!! (Wish I could get Tamiya sprays to lay down so smooth).
  21. Thanks Dave. Not having the steady hand and good eyes I used to have, I resorted to a bunch of tricks to get the grille done. I masked the rubber strips top and bottom with BMF and brush painted them as one unit with Humbrol flat black. I then foiled the gap between the two strips to separate them. The black line between the bumper and the grille is a length of Letraline tape. The orange lights are pieces cut from a flame decal. The very thin black lines around the lights are and above them are done with watered down acrylic, flowed into the molded-in troughs. I will fix up a few small problem areas visible in the photo.
  22. Very nice, love that interior!
  23. Thanks Ron. I feel your pain - I also couldn't paint at home for a decade or so, really slows you down!
