  1. All it needs is a young rodder with a DA and a pack of Lucky Strike rolled up in his tee-shirt standing next to it... Very nicely done!
  2. Wow John! Your post proved 2 things...less is a lot more (subtle scallops expertly executed...damned gorgeous!) and some of the dopey little snapper kits out there are a beautiful model just waiting to happen. Your paint work screams (however quietly) traditional custom! I have some modelhaus steelies set aside just for this kit...they belong together! Nice work!
  3. C'mon Dale...fess up. Those can't be decals. You paint a full size car and then shrink the body somehow. Right?! Crisp, clean and overall outstanding work as always! ######!
  4. I have to wonder if the pillar thickness is a function of meeting crash test and rollover protection standards. Just thinkin' out loud... Even my goofy little Neon has A-pilars that can completely obscure an oncoming car from certain angles...and from not all that far away. Either way, having seen several of these things up close lately, all I can say is [can't use that kinda language here] that's a [can't use that kinda language here either] exciting car, and I can live with the thick A-pillars! Cindy Crawford has a mole, the Challenger has thick A-pillars. No big deal.
  5. Well done, Nick! Just don't turn your back on V8s and RWD because this came out so nice! What the heck is in the water in New Holland? Team Kern sure churns out some darn fine work!
  6. OUCH! I guess I should be happy I got mentioned in the same breath as Cruz, Kern, Willits and Geary.
  7. Geez...now that I actually look at it, I think I can cut the "tail gate" off of the chassis platform and use that to close off the body. It'll be a little flatter than I like, but I'll sort out the details.
  8. I picked up an Ice T kit at a recent club meeting (best 500 pennies I spent in recent memory) because I built one as a little kit and it was, of course, unpainted and smeared with Testors glue and now likely residing deep in a land fill somewhere in Jersey. I would really like to take a run at the kit with my moderately improved skills but have one burning question.... Has anyone here removed that stupid fixed tailgate and either closed off the back of the body or fabricated a hinged gate? The roll pan with the taillights is mounted to the chassis pan while I would much prefer to integrate it into the main body. Anybody have any ideas from their own experience on how to to this? It looks like I will have a little bit of a compound contour to contend with, and want to use as little putty as possible. Is ther a donor tail gate out there, or other body panel I could scavenge from a scrap body? I think the model would look so much cooler with the gate closed off because of that great bob-tailed look it has in profile. And, I haven't decided if it would be best to go with a "stock" build, or black primer (lose those side-mounted tanks) with chrome reversed wheels, flat head mill, pie plate slicks and white walls, or update it with a blown Hemi, F/C rolling stock and eyeball searing green or blue metal flake or pearl paint.
  9. I had that exact car, same color and everything...except it had rallyes insteat of mags...and a six...and an automatic. Come to think of it, it wasn't an SS, had a flat hood and was a good bit larger. It also went hrough fuel filters like nobody's business. You know, I suppose this means I like yours a darn sight better than mine. Great job!
  10. Thanks for making it all the way to G-ville to attend our little shindig! And thanks for posting the photos, too! I hope you felt it was worth the drive. If not, let us know what we can do to improve the event!
  11. Thank you so much for shooting so many photos! I had no idea how great so many of these entries looked! I swear...looking at those pictures...it was just like being there!
  12. VINCE!! We hadn't heard from you and were starting to wonder if you had gone deep under cover for some vigilante justice...whether you did or not, we'll be glad to see you and Karen tomorrow! And a special thanks to Karen in advance!!!! You better treat her right, high mainenance or not. She's a keeper!
  13. Well you certainly can't use MY private jet that weekend. If you fly into Pittsburgh, I imagine the rest is relatively simople by using Mapquest for directions to the hall. Have you looked into airfare from Puerto Rico yet? If I knew for sure I could make it, I'd offer to pick you up at or near the airport and run you to the show.
  14. Bob, can you send me the information on the trophy packs? I'll try to dig into the CPMCC vault when the treasurer isn't watching...
  15. ######...I'll be in the Erie area that weekend. Granted, it's 2.5 hours closer than coming from home, but I'd still have to go back to Erie to get my son. What a conundrum!
  16. This topic should have been deleted right out of the gate.
  17. Ninth installment of the Central PA Model Car Club's annual contest and vendor show. For info, contact the club at centralpmcc@hotmail.com or go to http://www.freewebs.com/cpmcc/index.htm. For vendor info, contact Len at Fantastic Plastics t fnplastics@aol.com
  18. Are there any good hobby shops in the Erie area? I have to run my son up that way and might find myself with a few minutes to myself. I googled and found some, but the information is either kind of thin, non-existent, or the shops specialize in R/C...
  19. And here I was expecting a DeLorean... I confess I am not a huge fan of today's NASCAR vehicles...but boy do I like the older stock cars...you know, like when they were at least remotely stock? This is gorgeous!
  20. If I knew fir sure breaking a few bones and getting laid up at home would give me the results you're churning out, I'd jump out of my second story window right now! This and all your recent completions are super clean and just right on the money. Impressive stuff!!
  21. I've seen lots fo scale bodywork, good scale bodywork, excellent scale bodywork, but I have to say, the models you've posted recently exhibit what I feel compelled to call perfect bodywork. It's hard enough in 1:1, but modifications in scale, and under the modern microscope of a digital camera on macro setting, are particularly difficult to get "right". It's not so much getting smooth transitions and mirror-like paint finishes (which is hard enough!), but getting radical body work to look "in scale" without being clunky or thick is the work of wizards. The Challenger is flat out amazing, and I'm thinking project Venom has got to be the sweetest, best executed custom I've seen in ages, if not ever. Is it true that the 2" tall mechanics who work on Bill Geary's cars are moonlighting in your neighborhood? Hmmmmmm?
  22. Well, I've done my part by not building a darn thing in ages!
  23. It's okay Ariel...I've learned to make adjustments for Uncle Bobby. Youse guys have held a place of honor in our links section for a while.
  24. All that's left to do is build a scale Nick, and you're done! Between you and Lyle, I'm already finding plenty of photos right here for the October club newlsetter! This little hot rod is mad cool.
